I'm with you a hundred percent cent there jac, but sadly here and now society expects penal consequences for those who threaten it's questionable stability. Fortunately a more enlightened awareness to addressing crime and punishment is slowly gathering momentum in some parts of the world, but it's a long way off from where we are now.
"Cats are natural hunters. They hunt and kill wildlife, even when they have full bellies. It’s not their fault and it’s not something that we can train them not to do, it’s who they are. However, as owners, we can find ways of reducing the amount of animals they kill and maim by choosing to keep our cats indoors or using a suitable cat containment system.
How Many Animals Die in the UK at the Paws of Cats?
A recent study titled Cats and Wildlife reveals how many birds are killed in the UK by our domestic cats alone (not including the feral cats in our country). Currently, the estimates stand at 55million birds are killed by cats each year and a total of approximately 275million animals are killed overall each year. These figures are alarming to read and it is worth remembering that this is only in the UK. Currently, the RSPCA say there’s no evidence to suggest cats are responsible for the decline of birds on our island, but that can’t be said in other places around the world.
Australia is proposing drastic action to gain some control of the current cat crisis that they’re experiencing. Earlier this year the Australian government announced they were planning a cat cull to eliminate 2 million cats in the country. More recently, the government also announced that they are to propose a 24-hour cat curfew that will apply to all cats in the country. The imposed cat curfew is already in place in some territories and the government are looking for public support to roll out the curfew country wide."
"Though there are known alternatives such as the cat bib, the only 100% efficient way of making sure your cat does not hunt birds is to keep your cat indoors. If you're not convinced, remember that outdoor cats have an average lifespan of 2 to 3 years, whereas indoor cats can live up to 20 if cared for properly."
In fairness the video does present a good argument as to why a firearm was used. However, there's no reference to the excessive number of rounds deployed even though the video is quite long.
I understand that, but I think the issue is the amount of shots fired. Given that clearly each shot was bound to hit its target, don’t you think the cops motivation was to kill rather than to stop the guy in his tracks?
So you believe the cop thought, this guy is reaching into the car and he's black so I'd better kill him? That's amounts to a racially motivated attempted murder.
I've seen the video numerous times and in fairness to the cops it does seem that Blake reaches for something in the car. This could have been a firearm, knife or any other weapon. However, there can be no justification for the cops responding in such a brutal way.
Seven shots????
What was the cop thinking while he fired the last four or five shots?...I'm going to make sure this person dies? The fact that he didn't die on the spot is something of a miracle, this was indeed attempted murder and should be treated as such imo.
I've just noticed according to the posts tally at the side of my name, suddenly ive only posted just over forty times. Just wondering where the other few thousand went and has anyone else had their posts cropped. (Conrad, yours looks pretty low all of a sudden.)
I don't think so. It was one of a gendre of classic black and white British films, Saturday Night and Sunday Morning starring Albert Finney being another. Usually a portrayal of life as it was, warts and all.
Anyway, I've found a short clip from a Taste of Honey with Geoffrey and Jo containg the quote you posted. Geoffrey is definitely talking with a Northern accent. This scene was shot in Stockport town centre about a mile from where I live.
You might be right. The quote comes from Geoffrey, Jo's gay friend and soul mate. The part was played by Murray Melvin who was born in central London. I think he was playing the part of a Northener in the film but I can't be sure, it's a long time since I've seen it. Great quote from an old classic film though.
RE: Are you a cat person or a dog person? Think carefully.
Great to see you kb....
