RE: our Asylum seekers... when is it enough

so what is it to be 'Australian'?

Well if the points I've raised are anything to go by .... an 'Aussie'

. can have their own swimming area - thats been okay'd for 200 years

. can have their own club thats race or gender exclusive - thats been okay'd for 200 years

. can practice whatever religion you want - thats our law

Unless you are someone we dont like... then apparently if YOU want to have any of those things your UN-Australian... go figure.

You're allowed to be a part of our Multicultural society, but only if you deny all your cultural and religious beliefs and adopt ours.[/quote]

They shouldnt be denied thier culture or religous beliefs but in turn they should respect ours. I think it ridiculous when you here things like the school that did not allow thier students celebrate xmas or easter at school as it could offend others beliefs. If they want us to respect thier beliefs they have to respect ours also. JMO

RE: serenes randoms

I've just mowed a backyard where thier is a pair of sitting Spur Winged Pluvers, they are so quiet they have never ever swooped me. Thier babies hatched today, it was so cute all you could see was mum standing up with 4 extra legs. I have to go within a foot of the nest with my big ride on mower and all she did was sit thier on her babies while the father was about a 5 metres away watching me and feeding. Its lovely to be able to interact with wild birds like that and to have them showing no fear of you.

RE: our Asylum seekers... when is it enough

RE: our Asylum seekers... when is it enough

Thats all good and well but we know nothing of thier past, they should incarcerated until they have had a thorough background check. You could be letting criminals run free to do as they please. If an Australian citizen breaks the law they are incarcerated and if the crime is bad enough they are not allowed out to work so why should it be different for asylum seekers? We need to know thier past first dont you think?

RE: our Asylum seekers... when is it enough

But what are we to do Merri, they need to be contained until they can be checked out. Yes thier are honest asylum seekers but then thier could be terrorists amongst them. They have to have a thorough back ground check before they cannot be incarcerated. In todays society you just cant risk it.
