RE: serenes randoms

To the best of my knowledge and belief (i listened to the DVA's advice) they told the Vietnam veterans to stop smoking, soon after a number of veterans died from hardened arteries, so the department withdrew that advice and offered free patches.
A number of people i personalty know, including mother and father (they didn't die at the time) but including mother farther, other veterans i know, and including the statement Billy made referring to the problems he had in relation to giving yes faithe it can be dangerous after many years smoking to just stop smoking

RE: serenes randoms

I accept that is your opinion and your welcome, but i disagree as daggy firstly posted thread about the meaning of life and then a thread taking a cheap shot at smokers and i choose to respond, he's talking crap and i disagree that i'm ignorant which he proposed and am sick of people pushing a load of rubbish expecting others to take it
i just disagree that i should just say nothing, i am with tony, even though i think he is running high risk of hardened arteries. Department veterans affairs advised vietnam vets to stop smoking and a number died within five six months but others on here prefer to stick with emotional thoughts in that matter, thats ok, i just ignored tony comment to me, if thats what he has choosing thats he's right, but daggy engaged in utter rubbish in same subject matter in more than two threads

This is another the smoking comments you made daggy

Like anything, people can come up with excuses for their own actions, ie: it's just a game - pokie machine, people smoke 'til they're 100yo - smoking, it doesn't kill your brain cells - alcohol, etc, etc...
Could these scientists ever come up with a plausible big bang?
I don't think so, but it works for them like smokes, alcohol and pokies do for addicts, ignorance is bliss.

RE: Are smokers faces different from their non smoking friends?

The thread: Are smokers faces different from their non smoking friends?
seys Interested in what people think.
I believe smokers do look different.

then has said:
Wiki - The general appearance is of accelerated aging of the face, with a characteristic pattern of facial wrinkling and sallow coloration.

"Smoker's face" occurs because toxins involved in the smoking process create a ... present in the buttock skin of smokers when compared to that of non-smokers.

So those who took up smoking 'cos they thought it was glamorous may have smoked their glamorous looks out their mouths and nostrils.

it was observed that heavy smoking could cause visible changes in a person's complexion. This included premature wrinkling and a loss of elasticity in the skin, giving the smoker a rough, haggard appearance, and a slightly reddened or orange complexion.

The symptoms of "Smoker's face" include a number of distinct characteristics. Prominent lines and wrinkles are usually noticeable emanating from the corners of the eyes ("crow's feet"), even extending on to the cheek. The cheeks themselves may appear sunken. Other wrinkle lines become etched perpendicular to the lips, with shallow lines forming on the cheeks and lower jaw. Some male smokers may also develop a distinctive feature referred to as "cobblestone wrinkles", which are wrinkles that run down the back of the neck. The underlying bone structure of the face becomes more visible under drawn, taunt skin that has lost its elasticity. The skin may take on a dry, tough and leathery appearance. A mottled, slightly reddened, orange and purple complexion may occur because of inadequate oxygenation of the blood, similar to what occurs during cyanosis. On other occasions, the smoker's complexion may develop a grey, unnatural pallor because it is more atrophied than a non-smoker's skin.

just trying to protect our smoking friends from themselves

don't the wrinkly ones work better

hey're not stress wrinkles theyare kris kringles

yeah i hope Tony is all right to

RE: Are smokers faces different from their non smoking friends?

i thought i'd been quite direct and explicit in expressing what i meant, he certainly deserves to be abused when judging other peoples karmas, and so do you pal

RE: Are smokers faces different from their non smoking friends?

yeah thai style

I have to admit i'm having a problem coming to terms with how mad the people in this world really are.
For example Cambodia

The UN has forced war crimes courts in Cambodia; the Cambodians did not want that occur, Cambodia is a Buddhist country it is not muslin or christian who are constantly using there self righteous crap in judging the karmas of others, Pal Pot events in Cambodia occurred in Interdependence to events flowing in from Vietnam.
Cambodia was bombed by American inspired SETO forces propping up an attempt to force Catholic teachings on Buddhist Vietnam the SETO forces ran-away and left the Chinese to run amok. To blame those having the karmas in all of that is stupidity, not Buddhism

RE: Are smokers faces different from their non smoking friends?

day before yesterday daggy posted the following in the meaning of life thread:

Hello Mr Lookin

When I was in Tassie I used to phone my mother in NZ every couple of weeks and one day she said that she wasn’t going to put up with another winter. Took her three and half months to die. She knew what she was doing and I certainly didn’t have any problem with that, few years before we both knew we would never see each other again and had said our good byes.

Yes I was trying to help faithe, clearly wasn’t what she wanted or appreciated so there you go…

RE: ON MY COMPUTER

where did you buy a computer that's that good

RE: At 44

Thinking alone is probably not enough actually transforming her thoughts into activities assisting others stops the constant thinking thinking process, i dunno how your mother physical abilities but engaging in an activity that helps someone else be better than thinking

RE: At 44

It’s a responsibility all of us have to train our minds that our negative emotions can be dispelled and eliminated. Since negative emotions are states of mind, the method or technique for overcoming them must be developed from within; they cannot be removed by some external technique, like a surgical operation.

The causes of our sufferings are delusion, ignorance, and the self-cherishing thought, and in relation to those, anger and attachment arise.

To think otherwise is stupidity, a complete waist of this precious human experience

RE: At 44

Of course there is, however i trying to share with you another angle on actually helping your mother to over come the constant suffering in her mind, not put you down or reinforce her suffering, rather offer another way of approaching assisting your mother to enjoy her life rather than more and more of the same misery

RE: At 44

Yes i understand but the unhappiness is in her mind, in your mothers mind, only your mother can change that. Much as you try in supporting her as i am sure you are, the way to bring more happiness to our lives is to stop dwelling on self by redirecting our thoughts towards benefiting others.

The nature of life for all of us is suffering to one degree or another life experience is suffering.
Having expectations others will live longer lives than they have merit to live, often husbands, wives, boyfriends girlfriends brothers and sisters or others will act in a way other than we had hoped they would; comes from our own expectations. Expectations from our own side, which are often unrealistic. Time and time again we feel let down by others simply because in our own minds we create of unrealistic expectations.
As everyone one actually in general trying to obtain happiness for themselves from outside themselves

RE: At 44

Probably, very likely, I think comes from thinking of ones self, if your mother redirected her mind towards benefiting others, develop motivation towards helping others she wouldn't be dwelling in her own unhappiness...

RE: What's the meaning of life?

take your pick whatever thought you like is your meaning of life. Just three monkeys in a room of a burning house
