RE: Where's all da men hiding?

In your mind can you not recall how many Vietnamese died during our involvement in the Vietnam War, 1962 through to 1974? Can you recall how many people were adversely impacted on by the use of Agent Orange and how many non-human sentient beings also suffered during that long dawn out conflict?
Can you recall the hundreds of thousands killed, staved and denied medicine and proper treatment during our involvement in the Iraq conflict, as well as Afghanistan?

What an excellent opportunity offering of food and shelter for those trying to find peace and happiness away from the constant cycle of suffering experienced in other parts of the glob, an excellent opportunity.

RE: Buying a car ?

No that's ok i was reading today the emergency channels are 15 and 35, what i was trying to ask about related to the changes (80 channels now) what that means, best sort system that works.
I looked at hand-held and box radio, seems there is UHF also UHF,VHF and CD systems with or without duplex for extended range.
For trucking along country or bush roads, local or highway is the UHF,VHF and CD better over just UHF?
questions like that as i know very very little about the subject Lookin

RE: Buying a car ?

what sort??
Enjoy fathers day without a "G'day Dad" from anybody, been reading up on UHF radios cause know nothing about them, lot people use them driving through the bush in case hole logging truck went by...you know anything about them

Gold price today Swiss Franc buys 1 oz 1484.82
Gold price today Swiss Franc buys 1 kg 47738.20
Gold price today Swiss Franc buys 1 gram 47.74

so I'm a bit out, however 1484.82 is long way from todays US$1883.10

RE: Even Goldman Sachs Now Expects A Tremendous Financial Collapse

In 1945, Switzerland joined the Bretton Woods system and pegged the franc to the U.S. dollar at a rate of $1 = 4.30521 francs (equivalent to 1 franc = 0.206418 grams of gold). This was changed to $1 = 4.375 francs (1 franc = 0.203125 grams of gold) in 1949.

Between mid-2003 and mid-2006, the franc's exchange rate with the euro was stable at a value of about 1.55 CHF per euro, so that the Swiss franc rose and fell in tandem with the euro against the U.S. dollar and other currencies. In March 2008 the Swiss franc traded above one U.S. dollar for the first time. In March 2011 it climbed past the US$1.10 mark (CHF 0.91 per U.S. dollar). In June 2011 the franc climbed past US$1.20 (CHF 0.833 per U.S. dollar) as investors sought safety amidst the continuation of the Greek sovereign-debt crisis. Continuation of the same crisis in Europe and the debt crisis in the US propelled the Swiss Franc past US$1.30 (CHF 0.769 per U.S. dollar) as of August 2011.
The Swiss franc has historically been considered a safe-haven currency with virtually zero inflation and a legal requirement that a minimum of 40% be backed by gold reserves. However, this link to gold, which dates from the 1920s, was terminated on 1 May 2000 following a referendum. By March 2005, following a gold selling program, the Swiss National Bank held 1,290 tonnes of gold in reserves which equated to 20% of its assets.

RE: Even Goldman Sachs Now Expects A Tremendous Financial Collapse

Seems to me the quoted US$ value of an oz of gold is quite misleading, as the US$ has in fairly recent times considerably devalued against the Swiss Frank.
While in India in the early eighties the US$ devalued by 32% and i think its done that again against the Swiss Frank. If i recall correctly, the exchange used to be around SF$1.85 to the US$1.00, that means the current quoted US$ value per oz of gold is grossly misleading, in reality it means gold is in real terms still only worth about $1200.00 per oz...today the Aussie $ buys SF0.85 in other words the SF$ buys AU$1.20.

Mee thinks Goldman Sachs advice should be approached with considerable amount of caution...

RE: Buying a car ?

I've really enjoyed looking about with the camper trailer, only weights 1200kg loaded, and for past three years have been mostly driving 20km to shops at 85 to 90 km and hour relaxed cruise etc.
When i checked online for problem reports on the Mazda 2.5 Turbo diesel whippy they all doing it. I paid $30 the block who had traded it back in for smaller wagon had paid $42,500, now be lucky to get fifteen...

Myself being a hypercritical self, would like to try out the new VW Amarok Trendline, but my lotto games i've given up on...
