I have black friends and white friends. Some of my closest friends are black, that doesn't mean I want to marry one. Seems that a lot of the replies to this thread don't believe in personal preference. Guess that means that all of us old, fat, ugly, bald men should be able to get a date with anyone of their choosing, since it so wrong to reject anyone because of race, looks, or build.
Thirty five years ago, all the fear mongers had the people believing that we were headed for another ice age. I don't recall an ice age happening between then and now. Now the doomsayers are claiming global warming. The loudest activists for global warming are actually the biggest reason for green house gases.
Thank you. From what I have read, if stem-cells can be used to treat and/or cure thalassemia, the best chance is for the stem-cells to be harvested form the person suffering from the disease. Little chance of the body rejecting them that way.
From what little I have read on the subject, adult stem-cells are harvested from bone marrow and also from umbilical cords. The more that researchers learn of adult stem-cells, the more they are seeing the many uses for them. From what I have read, the main reason for harvesting embryonic stem-cells is to eventually use them for cloning purposes.
Stem-cell research is going on right now. The debate is over adult stem-cell research versus embryonic stem-cell research. As I have stated before, adult stem-cell research has already come up with cures and treatments for quite a few ailments. Embryonic stem-cell research has shown nothing in the way of a cure or the hopes of finding any through them.
Was this fact proven by that South Korean quack? I saw no mention of embryonic stem-cells curing this. I would dare say that adult stem-cells would probably have a better chance. If embryonic stem-cells held the chance of a cure, it would be plastered all over the media in order to try and cram legislation down our throats to fund the destruction of embryos.
Adult stem-cells are already being used to cure all manners of ailments. Embryonic stem-cells have cured nothing and there is no indication that they ever will. Reminds me of a comment I once heard. A scientist was once asked why he would take fossilized dinosaur dna and clone a dinosaur. The scientists answer was, "because we can". Just because we can do something doesn't necessarily mean that we should.

I go through there on occasion. Is a lot more crowded than it was.
