That said, id take her over Mariah Carey any day of the week... I just cant get on with vocal gymnasics, now, if you were to say Aimee Mann or Annie Hasslam, they would be quite another matter...
I want to put up a picture of myself, and its just not happaning for me...Im not a technophobe, but no matter how i try to import a pic, the computer says its not in the regestery..but it is, im looking at it... Can i resize using picassa / wmv or should i just try a new camera pic and resize it there......
Before i head off for the rest of the day, It occured to me that i didn't name check David Mammet, Probibly one of the most respected writers in recent times... Name check him to your tutors and watch there faces light up...
This scene nearly clinched Alec Baldwin an oscar...Easy to see why, and Mammet provided the words...Hard as nails delivery... This is top shelf product...
Theres someone for every one, (weather we want them or not )...The real trick is finding them on this side of the planet, and not "finding" a stunning 27 year old with broken english and an even brokener (not a real word surely!) bank account...( may need to see BM for supplies, if you get my drift! )... Good Luck and Ill speak to my "friends" in the covern and see if we cant work some black juju for you...
Case in point, "Monsters", Ill wiki link it for you... Gurilla film making, at its creative best...An "Alien / love story / road movie" with a payroll cast and crew of around 10 people...Unbelieveable when you see the finished product... Low budget movie making brings with it an inventiveness that keeps cinema fresh and relevant in todays "big budget" driven culture... Would you care to share your ideas for a script (its ok, i do music, and promise not to pillage you work... )... And on that note, the importance of music in film....But maybe thats for another time....
My post is in the CS "Top 10" catagory as a stand alone piece.. I would at this point start by saying that the story / script is king... You can do no end with special effects, you can do nothing without a good story...Thats nothing i read anywhere, but i makes a whole lot of sence to me... A good story is "immersive" and as you so righly said, draws you into the characters world, surely, thats the central point of writing... I would cite two films in recent times that illustrate the point... Avatar and District 9...Both sci fi films from the tail end of 2009, both brimming with visual flair (as you would expext from james Cameron), Avatars budget was in the area of 280 million dollars excluding markeing...which could have been another 100 million (conservative estimate)...District 9 was a "wrap up" for 30 millon dollars...Look at the two films side by side, Avatars "weak tea" script which slides between "Ferngully", "Pocahontas" and "Dances with Wolves", while giving a sly "wink and a nod" to american foreign policy is bankrupt in the script and story department... District 9, put together for less than one tenth of Avatars budget manages to take things we recognise, but with the aid of razor sharp story telling makes you think its the first time you have ever seen an "alien invasion" on film...And to some extent, It is... I could go on but i wont, this is dissertation 101 for me...To many great premises fall by the wayside for want of decent writing...Sad but true...
So sorry to hear it didn't play out for you...... Men can be schmuck,s sometimes...His loss without a doubt... There will be others, dont you mind... And if I know anything, You have plenty of admirers here, even if they dress it up with comic asides... Good luck in future Lara...
May i start by saying how refreshing it is to find someone who sees cinima as i do... Indeed, we all love the movies, and its the veriety of genres and stylistic approaches that make cinima such a rich artform... Can i direct you to a "top 10" posting I put up this week on CS, maybe that will give you a widow into my world of "classic film"... I would be delighted to discuss with you, here on the "boards" the things that i find important about the artform that is central to most of our lives (along with music and pictoral art)...
Of that there was no doubt...His impact on popular music can never be understated... The way of his passing was indeed sad, and i would not wish it on anybody, plainly he still had much to offer artistically... His private life was however blighted with severe errors of judgement, and while i know many will jump to his defense... The facts remain, he acted inappropriatly with minors... However a great entertainer he was, as a father of two girls this still sits uneasily with me... Sorry to all the die hard fans out there but it is what it is... For me his passing closes a chapter in music history, but his legacy sadly, is tainted by repute...
First reactions have to be that music with a religeous theme has to be dull and zealotry... I must confess that would have been my general overview some years back...Well intentioned as the musicians may have been, singing in praise of "there god" didn't fill me with enthusiasm... That changed when i heard this....
Staggering in its bredth of scope and as energetic as it is beautifull...Truely a modern masterpiece...
The composer, Neal Morse found religeon after his little girl, diagnosed with an incurable illness, unaccountably had a full and un aided recovery...the details will no doubt be able to be found in wiki or Neals own web sites...
Your thoughts and contibutions on this would interest me...
Gotta say im with Liam on this...although i would like to see a wider selection of "icons" less directed to hearts and flowers...Id add, I always use the 60 character input, and recon beefing it up to 120 characters would cross the flower / e-mail divide as an "ice breaker"...Again, jmho...
The Sea Inside... Outstanding film...Unmissable if your anyway disposed to foreign movies...
My choice for a killer scene is the Alic Baldwin speech from "Glengarry, Glenn Ross... Sorry, i dont know how to put up embedded code, so a link will have to do...
As an English living in Ireland, I have lived through the british political system for over 40 years, while not perfect, it does work pretty well... Germany, from what I have seen remains the "engine room" of political efficiency... Ireland ruled by Germany would in my limited opinion be a better bet from at least an economic standpoint...Though culturally England, in spite of the historic upheaval would be a closer partner...(as i duck and dodge the bullits )...
Sorry to appear like im bumping this thread... But ive been "groped" again... America, this has to stop.... There is only one answer, its time to take the gloves off...
Profile will be ammended to read...
SCAMMER NOTICE...time and money permitting, I will hunt you down and cut of your head with a blunt and rusty axe, and once done, ill put your head on a spike and send your twitching corpse back to your family and charge them the Fed Ex billing...have a nice day......
Am I being unreasonable in asking for the postage expense?...
Bridesmaids is being hailed as the best comedy of the year so far...Sounds like a safe bet... Last film i went and saw was "source code", very good indeed... Nothing taking my fancey just now...
Courtesy of the Tubes (californian rock group), a few suggestions......
a heated kidney shaped pool, a microwave oven--don't watch the food cook, a Dyna-Gym--I'll personally demonstrate it in the privacy of your own home, a kingsize Titanic unsinkable Molly Brown waterbed with polybendum, a foolproof plan and an airtight alibi, real simulated Indian jewelry, a Gucci shoetree, a year's supply of antibiotics, a personally autographed picture of Randy Mantooth and Bob Dylan's new unlisted phone number, a beautifully restored 3rd Reich swizzle stick, Rosemary's baby, a dream date in kneepads with Paul Williams, a new Matador, a new mastadon, a Maverick, a Mustang, a Montego, a Merc Montclair, a Mark IV, a meteor, a Mercedes, an MG, or a Malibu, a Mort Moriarty, a Maserati, a Mac truck, a Mazda, a new Monza, or a moped, a Winnebago--Hell, a herd of Winnebago's we're giving 'em away, or how about a McCulloch chainsaw, a Las Vegas wedding, a Mexican divorce, a solid gold Kama Sutra coffee pot, or a baby's arm holding an apple?
Changed the face of popular music forever, intoduced the world to the concept album, revolutionised (with George Martin) how music was heard, have been covered by more than any other artist...There isnt a moment in time where an original Beatles song isnt being played by a radio station somewhere on earth... Record sales...During the week of 4 April 1964, The Beatles held twelve positions on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, including the top five positions. Neither feat has been matched by any other artist to date. There are a world of stats that can be quoted, but creativly and culturally the Beatles are without equal in the long history of popular music...
My album of choice has to be the underrated and quite excellent "Animals", picking a standout piece for me would be difficult, so ill go with "dogs"... And just to be different, my second choice album would be "Atom Heart Mother", Indeed, I have put AHM up on the video section of CS and you could nearly hear the "tumbleweed" rolling across the tundra...Far cry from "another brick in the wall" that most cite as merit worthy Floyd...
What a cracking good idea, Since the likelihood of Ireland being drought bound is a long shot, this system (given a big enough tank) would work like a charm...But, and theres always a but in these conversations, If the government is collecting from people with wells, (privately funded and ultimatly naturally sourced) would not the same rules of "blanket charging" still exist... It does appear to me that they have there heels dug in on this one and where ever we get our water from becomes a moot point (from there perspective).. Anyhows, I guess we'll know in the fullness of time...
Im in the luxurious position of not looking for anyone, Im just here for the writing and reading... So, my "turn on", or "beauty" if you like would be a sharp mind and a compassionate and caring nature... It really is as simple as that...
Country music is the devils plaything, full of whining meloncholia and doom laiden self pity... Just the sound of a steel strung accoustic and a bottle neck slide make me want to open up my wrists with a rusty butter knife... How do they make so much misery fit onto three minutes, that in itself is a work of art... I will say here as i say any time the country and western music "do you like" question arises...I would rather my organs be "harvested" and have my body half filled with sand, then be sold as a rather odd shaped egg timer than spend a day listening to this soul destroying "wave of musical depression".....
But, I do like johnny Cash (particularly the american series recordings) and the Charlie Daniels band, so its not all bad!...
Humour me please, What are grey water tanks?.... And second to your post, I do buy bottled water in bulk, and source it from my place of work... For the longest time my "scheme derived" water has been only passable at best, drinking from the tap is pretty much last resort... Certainly good enough for cooking and cleaning purposes but hardly "spring quality", so, my point were i to make it even at a tangent to the thread is....Would my "water charge" be used to improve my water quality, or would it go the way of "road fund" and do nothing but bolster government coffers...
RE: do you like Beyonce
Pretentious diva...Just read her dressing room demands...
After that consider, global rock superstars Rush just like to have a bowl of soup handy before they go up and entertain thousands...A world apart...
