You are right, and that is the point the German government is making to their own population to defend the money they are putting into Europe at the moment.
I can understand the Irish arguments but also the German side on this.
[quote=sofarsogood74 Its time for Europe to stand up to them....Again!
But when Germany was in crises after the war they were given debt forgivness! Yes, that's the point the German politicians are making to their own population who actually don't want all the GERMAN money going into other EU countries.
As for standing up again
And the comment with the Ireland 4 mio, Germany 83 mio, the Germans have no interest to take over another country, let alone this lovely little island.
Yes, the German economy is going well and be glad of that because a lot of the money is going to Ireland and other European Countries! And as I said before, Unemployment rate 2005: Ireland 4%, Germany 14% 2012: Ireland 14%, Germany 7%, Germany had tough times, too when Ireland was booming and I can't recall Germany giving out...
Merkel has great opposition, she is pro Europe over the last years and will most likely loose the next general elections because of that. Only way to keep some of her face is to try to get some guarantees for Germany. And Germany has a big discussion about the whole bailout thing, the politicians there say they owe Europe because of the German past which doesn't go down too well with their own population at this stage. Did you ever go to Germany? No mansions of €300.000 - €5000.000 like a lot of people have here. Social welfare payment there is under €400 per MONTH. Vote whatever you want but don't put all the blame for the overspending and totally going crazy of Irish people to the Germans!
