A drunk Aussie risked his life while swimming with friends by sneaking up behind a shark and wrestling it onto a nearby jetty.
Fuelled by several large vodkas, Phillip Kerkhof thought he'd surprise the 4ft-long bronze whaler shark when he saw it swimming in the shallows off Louth Bay.
The 41-year old admitted he'd downed a "fair few vodkas" beforehand.
Mr Kerkof explained: "The next minute, I'm in the water with him and he's just going berserk trying to get away from me."
"The only reason I sort of did it is because I had a few too many vodkas."
But Mr Kerkhof didn't quite escape his drunken antics unscathed. His wife Christine explained: "As he was pulling his jeans back on, the shark got a bit aggressive on him and turned around and grabbed him on the jeans. He just about lost his 'good ones'."
Apparently the wife was talking about the jeans, not his jewels ...
