I lived with a woman that was 17 years younger than me, and we were together for 5 years.
She always assumed that I would want someone more interesting and as such was very insecure about herself as she was in awe of my travelling experiences and knowledge of the places I had visited.
Nothing I could do would convince her she was as valuable to me as I was to her. She could not see that people wanted to know her and as she was, physically, very attractive person, people wanted to employ her for all of the wrong reasons, but they still wanted to do it.
She finally realised her dream to be cabin crew, and that is a very superficial employment realm.
We had very little in common, but it lasted.
Age is immaterial when talking about people's worth. In fact to be totally honest, in certain environments, the value of human beings is zero.
We look at ourselves and we have the pomposity to assume we are more valuable than a 85 year old woman who has fished for 70 years to feed her family, has outlived her three sons, her husband and still gets into a row boat and rows out into the middle of the sea. Plays out 3 miles of fishing line and then reels the lot in. Just so that she can feed her grandchildren. I know this woman, she lives in Corfu and when I went back there, after 15 years, this year, the "Iron Woman" is still fishing!
Your value to society is immeasurable. Do not discount your contribution to your own society because it is percieved less than your neighbour who is a brain surgeon!
Our value is in our intelligence and our ability to see beyond our conditioning. But only when you can do that, can you really see others for their short-sightedness and ignorance.
The Adriatic is becoming the in-place to dive for Europeans. Its closer to mainland Europe, so we can drive there, as opposed to fly to Egypt, Malta, Cyprus.
The countryside is phenomenal!! The people are very freindly. The weather can be great in the summer and its cheap!!
Hell, if that is the case, Im in trouble!! This ole' bod of mine hasnt been able to keep up with all the shenanigans that the mind has been up to so far ...
Book me a seat by the window, in 10 years I will be nodding by it and licking it!!!
I believe it is possible to love someone without meeting them.
We are all connected and it is when we recognise the connection for what it is that we can determine how to approach it.
When you spend a lot of time with someone, you instinctively adapt your posture, your language and your mannerisms to mirror that person. "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery"
But if you are not in that person's presence, but are in constant verbal contact with them, you develop a different rapport.
When you finally meet that person, the rapport you have developed is not based on the mirroring of body language it is based on the only medium you had - their intelligence over the voice-based world you were in. (If you weren't using a web cam, that is)
I have met people on this site after talking to them for a long time and, yes, I have very strong feelings for them. They are still in their sphere, I am still in mine and the contact we have is still a word/voice based world. But that does not diminish the reciprocated feelings.
It takes two very open-minded people to look at the connection for what it is, and not for what they want it to be.
I will call you tomorrow ... I am in the bath and just about to go to bed .. I have done 100 hour week. Made waaaayyyy too much money, but am exhausted.

So ... where to go next ... ?
Well, I will be doing a 9 month tour of the US/Canada from April 2008. Buying a large motorcycle and starting in the South West of the States, riding all the way up the East Coast, across the central part of Canada, and down the West Coast. Ending up in California for Christmas.
During this time, I will be making video diaries and hopefully someone will want to give me large sums of money to visit people on CS as I tour around!!!
Oh people!! Have you so little imagination that you can only think of your own countries??
I have seen the wonders of the Middle East, the Far East, Australia, Europe, and of all of the places I would happily settle in, there is only one place I would be truly happy.
That's on a sailing boat. Freedom is such an underestimated thing
