If the sky was clear and cloudless and the stars were as bright as I remember, then it takes me back to the times I worked on diving boats in either the Mergui Archipelego or the Southern Red Sea.
There was no light pollution, the air was warm and slightly humid.
The only sounds you could hear were the simple regular lapping sound of the sea gently touching the sides of the boat.
The clarity of the sky was amazing and there is nothing quite like seeing the black sky with little pricks of light as the last thing you see when you go to sleep, and the first thing you see at 5am when you have to get up to make breakfast.
I also did a safari in the Sinai mountains on a horse (would have been a camel, except cant stand them) and living as a bedouin traveller learning about the desert and its foibles and its wonders. Then camping at night when the temperature drops dramatically, and the sky is an amazing fantasm of different shades from dark blue to pitch black. To see it punctuated with shooting stars and the lights from the aircraft was just so surreal.
X-ray cameras that would "undress" passers-by in a bid to thwart terrorists concealing weapons, could be coming to a street near you, according to reports. Aside from the obvious privacy issues, would such a plan work? Leaked documents said to have been drawn up by the Home Office and seen by the Sun newspaper say cameras which can see through clothes could be built into lamp posts to "trap terror suspects".
Not only is the UK the most filmed country, we are the most, heavily taxed (most number of different taxes), most expensive country in the world as well!
