And it will only cost you your soul... Such silliness, getting late here and it's showing. This Vampire needs to go to bed. I've had a lot of fun, Miss. Thanks and see ya.
Not cooking, observing... Two weeks ago, I bought a green pepper and left in on top of the refrigerator to slice later.
I forgot about it, and just now found it. The green pepper has turned red... Is it sick ? Does it have a fever ? Will it explode ? Has it turned transtomatoual ?
Thank you serene. Was a busy week and just now making it here.
The debut album from Prince was not successful, and without a hit song from it... His second album did have a hit single, but didn't get very much airtime, or airplay on the radio. 'I wanna be your lover', was the first hit single by Prince in 1979. In that year, I was 15 and I didn't like it at all. In fact, I didn't like Prince because of his name alone. Prince ? That's such a cocky name for a guy who hasn't had any success in popular music. And I believed then, that Prince would be a flash in the pan, and by the next year, he wouldn't be heard from again.
'I wanna be your lover' scored two weeks at No.1 on the Rhythm & Blues singles chart, and peaking at No.11 on the Billboard Hot 100.
The following is not a full list of the competition that Prince had in 1979. The Majors were all over the charts that year: Earth, Wind & Fire, Rod Stewart, Paul McCartney & Wings, Styx, Donna Summers, Billy Joel, Foreigner, Diana Ross, ELO, Van Halen, ABBA, Michael Jackson, Eagles, KISS, The Doobie Brothers, Journey.
Looking back, it's a miracle that he was able to get a foot in the door amongst so many established artists.
In 1983, Prince released the album titled: 1999. It was a genius work and the song: Little Red Corvette, captured me. Prince, had earned his name. And was such a wonderful blessing in my world of music listening. And just when I thought that he couldn't possibly achieve any better, then came Purple Rain.
Charming as always to have you with us, MrRick. I trust that you're not sending your question from jail. And Connecting Singles are in fact, one of the few places left that provide free legal advise. Have you tried calling Handle On The Law ?
I was just north of Huntsville, Alabama. Traveling to my Uncle's funeral Thursday afternoon, when I heard the news of the passing of The Artist, The Symbol, and will always be remembered as, Prince. And the Top 40 Stations in that area abandoned their regularly scheduled popular mix that day, and played music by Prince, back-to-back till evening.
If the day wasn't sorrowful enough, this news really punctured my inter child on that gloomy rainy day to Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
I was twenty when 'Purple Rain' opened in theaters. And in that same year of 1984, Van Halen released the titled album: 1984, Duran Duran was also incredibly HOT, and Madonna was singing: Like A Virgin, which pretty much summed-up our state of being at the age of twenty. Along with finalizing my first divorce from an awkward teenage marriage.
Was back in Louisville, Kentucky in 1984. Partied every night and morning and worked during the day. And back to partying. Was able to work and party three days in a row, before passing-out. Recover, and do it all over again. Those days are defiantly gone now, but it was a blast. Started feeling the strain by 23, and had to stop or die.
Upon arrival to a party, Prince was playing, or at some point during the night or early morning: songs by Prince were always part of our events. I've danced to Prince, held dates close to me while listening to Prince. Have cried with friends while hearing Prince in the background. Have had girlfriends breakup with me while hearing Prince. And have formed new romantic flings with the sound of Prince near.
After parties, we would go to the 24/7 Cafe-Diner to load-up on coffee to help recover from alcohol and smoke before work. And sometimes, we would walk in and hear the songs by Prince playing on the jukebox. Party with Prince, crash with Prince, and recover with Prince.
In 1984, this song was on the Top-40 stations every thirty minutes. And I heard it every morning on the way to work. It got old fast. And I can still live the rest of my life without hearing it again.
