This is interesting because I used to have three oval pictures about the same size but where in frames. Photos of my grandmother, grandfather (on my mom's side), and one of my mom. All the same frames, all the same pose. A pose as of a child on a horse. Unfortunately these photos where lost during a move and never recovered.
Anyway, I started putting alot of family photos on disk in chronological order etc, actually alot of work. My initial plan was to just throw the originals away afterwards. But during the process and reviewing some of the results on disk, I realized that it just wasn't the same. Viewing old photos that had passed through the hands of parents, grandparents, great grandparents etc. And also if I would hold on to anything of sentimental value, photos would be high on the list, they are easy to store, box whatever.
Possibly the next generation may not feel this way. So I plan to continue putting the photos on disk and finishing that part. Passing them on to the children and grandchildren, if they decide to throw them away, well! lol, guess that's just pushing the burden on to them, but the digital photos will still always be there.
But if you don't want them, and neither do your children, or anyone else in our family. For sure get them scanned. I feel the same way but couldn't throw them out. Soooo just got rid of something else instead lol.
Making a mural with them with old and new pics was a neat idea, considering that myself now.
God! that is so sad. I know exactly what you mean Curly. I hang on to that kind of stuff though......because you play both roles, and it is very special when they make stuff like that. I've got a whole box of that kind of stuff.
