I recall you posted before that you have a disability, if everything has been fine up until now, I'm not sure why this should change things, possibly she anticipates the aftercare will be too much to handle.
Some run when the going gets tough. Personally I wouldn't wait for her to cut contact post surgery, I'd take the initiative now.
