There could be a number of reasons you're being ignored , one might be they think you're not their type or they could simply be chatting to someone else when you message them, don't take it personally
I think the bye-laws that are in place for certain areas like a busy beach or woodland area are reasonable but if your dog has a good temperment I don't think there's any harm leaving them off their leash when there's noone around as long as the owner cleans up after them.
Recently my sister found an old box of my stuff in her attic. I had no recollection of ever keeping the items in the box, had completely forgotten about it; old school shirts, old letters, ticket stubs, photos, postcards and lots more. It was circa 1999, memories of times past, an incredible feeling, I'd recommend everyone do it
