RE: STAR WARS - Watching Order

In those days there used to be a moral of the story in shows in general. Something good i think for youngsters to grow up with.

Mork and Mindy (its a another classic but with a comedy slant in the field of Sci Fi)

The thing with Star Trek - was watching a big screen, in a armchair, with lots of buttons to push and flashing lights...and ordering people around (like Captian Kirk)

It might be a case of "Art imitating life" or did it influence us men much more than we know?? help laugh laugh

RE: STAR WARS - Watching Order

It was ahead of its time with civil rights with the first black women in a well known family show - and it was equal rights for an alien too! laugh

I liked the TV episodes and the film that struck out for me was "Search for Spok" it was edge of the seat stuff! laugh

RE: Freedom of the press

My US friends do say this too...however I tell them that the world is watching and they are all "glued" to what the US says. A good thing in my opinion...its better than everyone tuned in to our enemies and foes.

Trump in the speech he did in Poland said...something like...

"We question everything so we can better understand ourselves"

Its like what they say "dont trust anything you see" (the BBC included - however of course they are self critical to a point and very unlike North Korea TV news/propaganda)

RE: STAR WARS - Watching Order

Star Trek - with the captain kirk its all gut feelings...with Mr Spok its all logic...a winning combination. I read they hated each other off screen. laugh

RE: LIVING TOGETHER

When you get married you do it for all the right reasons (very well intentioned at the time right?) - "what is mine is yours...what is yours in mine"

...and this really does come in to play if and when you decide break the contract (divorce).

The flip side to love is hate...love turning inwards on it self

With living together (with or with out a spoken vow given) or living in two different places or just being boyfriend girlfriend - the dating element is still alive (and with out it being an overkill, or the killing of the golden goose), they are there because they want to be, it means more, and its not due to a piece of paper or a contract.

I think just as many people "divorced" in their minds and hearts before this epidemic we see in divorce figures (when it seemed everyone stayed married). In the same way, its hidden in countries over run with religion.

Marriage was was only invented some hundred odd years ago. At that time people used to die early, say in their 30s...these days longevity is much more so this may be why we end up with more than ex or more than one ex.

Also, just before the industrial revolution, the extended family was at its hay day...then for mobility...the nuclear family came along...and now it seems its singles who have taken top spot with single parent families.

I think governments do want everyone to work and spend...it increases revenues for them...and if there are more singles, the more they will have to do and spend. Life is hard enough with out more pressures added.

I keep telling myself...its all for the good somehow...but it just does sit well with me

Its usually all blamed on society - when its not easy to handcuff society

RE: Do you think you're better of alone...?

It was good to see my close friend did everything possible for hos wife who was diagnosed with Cancer and died a couple of years ago. They have two young children. Them types are around and they come in to their own when circumstances call for it.

Another close friend went back to his ex (purely in a platonic way) to care for her...and I have never seen anything like it...

I suspect its got to do with their upbringing where they are just passing on what they know...the values coming from a good family, which themselves are carrying forward, and instead of me, me, me knows about "the circle of life" being part and parcel of that.

You need to kiss more frogs to find your prince! laugh

RE: Weight Loss Program Search

Drink a large glass or water before having something to eat.

Also, it takes 10 mins for the stomach to send a signal to the brain that it is full. So eat a bit ...and then wait...

RE: STAR WARS - Watching Order

Sure thing (when I get a bit of time) wave

RE: STAR WARS - Watching Order

The special effects overtake the film/the story line these days. With star wars they did not intend it to be a film at all. It was going to be sliced up in to parts for a childrens Saturday TV show.

During my school years there was a lot of teachers strikes...so we watched movies instead on those days. Thats how I got to see the film "Gregory's Girl" in school. At other times, one of us would buy a ticket at the local cinema and once in, let everyone else in, through the fire escape door. We used to do the same at the local swimming pool also.

grin

RE: STAR WARS - Watching Order

I haven't seen the hobbit however in junior school we read it in class, taking turns to do so.

I usually try to get through the back log of old good movies (its a treasure trove) which I never had a chance to see first time round.

The darkest hour is very different in the way they did it...its set over just one month, of the pending crisis.

It does not need to be movies there are great documentaries

RE: STAR WARS - Watching Order

I find the story gets complicated unless you really concentrate laugh and when all you just want is some escapism in to another world. The film "Lord of the Rings" was the same. Although the the original was well enough to get in to it.

I do watch movies in parts, if i dont get the time to watch a film fully in one go.

I would go by what the star wards fan forums advise.

The last film I saw was "The Darkest Hour" (Gary Oldman pulled it off playing as Churchill - he is finally getting his limelight after the many great movies he has done - he was in the very memorable film called "Leon") wave

RE: Weight Loss Program Search

If we look at mammals generally...they are usually grazing...eating small amounts through out the day. And they eat hardly no Carbs.wave

RE: STAR WARS - Watching Order

I have thought this too because of the way they did it, it can be tricky...I would go start at the real beginning of the story

Personally, I would stream them in the right order using apps (those apps which are not on the app store for obvious reasons however they do not host them so its not really a big deal - yet) roll eyes

RE: Share What You Are Listening To -- Part XX

RE: Do you think you're better of alone...?

Dont you want some special to bring you grapes when your unwell in hospital ? a drink of water when you cant get out of bed because of feeling poorly ? How about someone cooking for you if your too tired to cook ? and even push your wheelchair and share their soup with you when your old and grey and at deaths door ? (god-forbid) teddybear

RE: Is there such a thing as healthy jealousy in a loving relationship or does it just cause conflict?

Its not a nice feeling so I dont really go there or think on it too much or dwell on it in the slightest. It changes nothing anyway. In the end for those concerned its the fear of getting used (or its perceived as such) but as with many things there are no guarantees in life and no one said there will be....unless you get it in writing...which is another can of worms

If things are intolerable you have the option to show them the door and them, you. Problem solved. Good riddance to bad rubbish. Then its CS bound - a warm welcome surely awaits cswelcome laugh laugh

RE: Share What You Are Listening To -- Part XX

RE: How do you choose to meet people? Other than this way?

For me, purposely going somewhere to "meet" someone would be a non starter as to me its starting off on the wrong foot. You just meet people along the way, and if they are going in the same direction you, then you may wish to continue together. There are people everywhere....sometimes its the same characters you have met before.

Some people will live with each other for life and/or some people will love each other for life...and some people wont.

RE: What's up with Jeremy Corbyn

Jac, this allegation was on Sky News today.

I am sure the press will be all over Corbyn like a bad suit ! (not that I think one way or another on it as I simply dont know).

I think in his favoure is that he is a tough cookie (he must be from the two labour party leadership bids he had to fight and fend off and which got very vicious, and him winning them both)

I do think he threw everything and the kitchen sink at the election (in a outlandish way). I still think Mrs May edged it over him and deserved to "win" (just about). PM May has an excruciatingly tough job to do (with Brexit and all) and I dont think anyone else is able do her job at all and in this age of media (maybe Mr Mogg could - he is all over social media - and very much liked)

PMs Question Time will be interesting to see.
