I know someone in that field...and they showed me this video years and years ago. They explained it all to me and what was going on and the things they really understand about it and what they just can't work out about it (they've probably worked it out since..maybe...)
It fascinated me and still does...what an incredible amazing world we live in eh? so full of intrigue and mystery and beauty.
I've heard there are a few here in Ireland alright Butterfly....There was one crowd down in Achill and loads of Irish mammies were flocking to it ....if it weren't so serious it'd be hilarious
working for your money is a mugs game..the trick is to find something you really enjoy and are good at then do that for a living.....you'll never work a day in your life then....just wish someone had told me that when I was a kid in school....
yeh space is far from empty...very far indeed...Space's nothingness is packed full..of particles, light ,the CMB and energy, it's a very busy space is is space lol...
. I used to work somewhere that needed as pure a vacuum as we could get. It's extremely difficult to "empty" a space to the point that it's actually empty, in fact a pure vacuum is (purists would argue) an impossibility.
I've never heard of this one before, but that's just another version of Schrodinger's cat isn't it? It's been over 20 years since I read anything about this so I'm very rusty on it...and have probably forgotten some reason why it's not..
Years ago I'd probably have agreed with Bohr regardless of what Einstein thought...Alex Friedman (if I've remembered his name correctly) was probably the one who would have come up with the answer if he'd lived even just a few more years longer...
At that level, things work in a very different way ...and how we understand the world to work is not necessarily reflected at that level.....
It's probably easier to understand if equated to the "if a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, does it actually make a sound). Most would instantly think "of course"..but that's not the case...sound doesnt exist until the vibrations hit our ear drum..and our brains convert those vibrations into a sound..we don't hear in our ears, we hear in our brains..ditto our eyes and vision..so taking that concept then sure..who's to say something exists at the subatomic level unless it's actually been observed...
but, there are also problems with that..as at that level, the mere act of observation has an effect and could potentially alter it and it's position, location or even cause it to change state...
Einstein was defniitely a genius but he really played the hokey pokey with his cosmological constant...in out in out shake it all about...I think that's where he hit the limit of his ability to be honest...I used to wonder if Friedman lived would he have made sense of it all..so that's probably why I would be less inclined to go with Einstein..
I'd stopped reading this stuff about 20 years ago...since then they've discovered things like the Higgs Field , Higgs Boson, dark matter and dark energy..and they stil haven't solved the expansion rate of the universe that I was particularly interested in....but all by the by now..and in the past...still it's a fascinating world down there in quarkdom isn't it?
This lot can't translate common sense into their language One2note...All they understand is ...welll..it's hard to tell actually.. but observation seems to indicated that.grunts and brandshing a club is about as sophisticated as it gets with them I'm afraid...
Same thing?? Do you mean drink to obilvion, take a who pick n mix bag of assorted drugs whilst hitching your way to an illegal rave up in the Leitrim bogs where you woke up with your face in a ditch and your legs in the remains of the tent that was set alight by your other friends who had a really bad trip and had to bev tied down with the tent strings and some girl's tights inside a sleeping bag....and you've no idea where your clothes are but you see your jeans wrapped around some mountain sheep....ontop of the hill....and you're boss is ringing you to find out why you're not at work so you get your friend to prentend they're your mother and say you're not well so wont be in today....which technically..is true, becuase you can't stand up, you're legs are in another county...
Sometimes I just wish they'd turn the internet off for a year....and smartphones..and just leave us with the most basic mobile phone again....let the kids of today get a real first hand experience of what it was like when people had to actually meet in person or you'd never see or hear from them... and a real effort was made..
I've walked away from friends (ignored permanently might be a better phrase there lol) because of their non stop use of whatsapp and texts. It really annoys me when they send a text asking how I am..then another one a day,two days, three days later then two weeks later another one saying they're worried because they haven't heard from me...like WTH? pick up the damn phone and ring me if you're worried..or better still get in your car , drive to my house and just walk in the front door...becaue that's excatly what I would do if I was worried about you..not drown you in texts saying "how are u. you ok hon"?? grrrrrrrrrrr lol.
I used to be such a tech nerd, now the less I see of it the better...it acutally annoys me now... because it's being used for all the wrong reason....grrrr
God,,,.I think I've turned into that cranky cantankerous old fart of a farmer who lives down the road..
yeh, shaking it up and keeping things fresh and/or doing new things and never letting yourself get into a rut is always a good way to keep yourself in good form...and young at heart too I guess...I never really gave the last bit too much thought though, so
RE: Congrats - you just won a Nobel Prize!
then on a whole different scale...we have this
