She's been in a hotel in Surfers for a couple of nights celebrating her 18th with a zillion friends, just arrived back and withing 5 mins the lounge floor is littered with clothes, shoes, bags, cosmetics, phone and charger, cards, etc.
But I missed her
But I WILL enjoy the peace and quiet for as long as I can get it - before she is back with her bed, table, chairs, etc. etc.
Not in that business looking but as you can see from that Fairfax link there is a big shake up going on here in the newspaper business - but that could open opportunities for people interested in smaller communities that the big boys don't want to be bothered with.
I think local communities like their local rag (newspaper) as it relates to their area more so??
Yes it would be if you are one of them -1900 actually.
Radical changes to print media about to take place, technology taking over, closing of local/regional papers, charging for online content. You can do a google search or here is one link, haven't read it but will give you the general gist?
Read this article in the local paper today - couldn't resist
A new way to meet your Ideal Match?? Sniff your way to love?
A new way to meet singles in New York (where else?) asks guests to bring to a get together a slept in T-shirt that will be sniffed by other participants??
The voila! You can pick your partner based on scent, or so the theory goes??
A late friend of mine's husband was a diagnosed alcoholic for over 20 yrs. He had 3 files about a foot high at the local hospital of all kinds of complaints, he even beat throat cancer. I called him Houdini-Lazarus.
She always said she would donate his body to medical research as it was bewildering how anybody's body could be abused so much and still recover!!
That's if there are any useful bits of this body left whenever I drop off the perch
I must look into donating my brain - had a talk from a nurse re dementia and she said that there are not enough brains donated which of course give researchers and insight into alzeihmers, dementia and other things like that.
I am having a very reflective weekend this weekend - my baby is turning 18 yo - and not only that, she is moving out next week!
I have come around to the idea a bit, at first I tried to talk her out of it, but all we did was argue! Then I thought, "Am I mad!" I will have more money, less work (washing etc.)
But I will miss my girl
She's only moving 10 mins away - and I am sure I will hear for her when she needs $50??
I don't know, not in HC housing myself but maybe it should be made clear that this is a privilege and a benefit that is not available to everyone.
That it is 'temporary' to help them get out of a black hole or help them better/improve their situation, that there are other people who need the help just like them and when their financial situation improves they will be expected to pay a fairer/more rent and even move on so that someone else who also needs a helping hand can have that benefit just as they have - or am I dreaming??
I do know that recently HC tenants are given a 12 mth tenancy??? And have the usual property checks - as in private rental to check that they haven't knocked walls thru, painted the walls purple etc??
The Church(es) were more interested in protecting themselves, their wealth, their 'brand', their so called standing in society than protecting the innocent victims and righting the wrongs.
At least these days things are more open, people question, we don't automatically trust certain people, situations that we used to??
Some progress has been made but that is not much consolation for the people who have grown up with those awful experiences and are now maybe drug users, alcoholics, violent or abusive, not able to form relationships or have mental health issues??
Maybe if this GFC continues the State/Fed Govt could kick start the construction industry by pumping money into more Public Housing aimed at the singles?? Somebody should have had the foresight to see that all those families in 3 bed + places would one day find themselves alone and if there is nowhere suitable for them to go then they don't want to move??
In my job I have come across 2 people in the last couple of days who are in Public Housing and have received letters from the State Govt regarding their tenancy.
They are single people in a home with more than one bedroom. Without going into too much detail, my clients have certain medical problems that are chronic, long term and will only get worse so the letter doesn't apply to them - I think.
The gist of the letter was that as they were alone and occupied a home of more than one bedroom would they consider moving to a home with one bedroom? or sharing with a stranger? paying more rent? moving to the private housing market with a subsidy? do they have anyone living with them who shouldn't be there?? etc.
The funny thing is one of my ladies in her seventies, was looking after her disabled adult daughter until she became too much for her recently and my client offered to move into a smaller place so that her daughter and carer could move into the 3 bedroom house but the Housing Dept told her they had a shortage of accommodation for single people ???
So apart from the ones on the 8 yr waiting list, where are they going to put all these single people who move out to accommodate families??
Think the only people that can answer that nature123 are the priests themselves??
Married men outside of the priesthood have committed acts against children so I guess that kinda answers that?
Any adult knows that it is wrong to hurt/harm a child in any way, most people's natural reaction is to help a child who is harmed in any way, falling off a bike, in a fight etc. But peadophiles don't have that in them, they don't even acknowledge the harm they have done sometimes. They see themselves giving a child 'love' - again
Wow 50?? He must have had some plastic surgery that has gone wrong and that's why he wears, funny hats, glasses, moustaches and goatees that look like they have been stuck on with blue-tac and make him look like a Police suspect com-fit??
Half Empty Nest
OMG! If she wasn't leaving I would kick her out!!She's been in a hotel in Surfers for a couple of nights celebrating her 18th with a zillion friends, just arrived back and withing 5 mins the lounge floor is littered with clothes, shoes, bags, cosmetics, phone and charger, cards, etc.
