RE: Hard to Believe People Can Be This Cold and Callous in a Hospital.......

quote=Hugz_n_Kissez]I agree nurses and doctors are people too...but this was in a waiting room of hospital and I find it inexcusable that a person....any person could lay there for an hour and have 5 people not even check on them and then die....Just because psychiatric patients are expected to act a certain way....doesn't mean that they don't deserve the same level of care as anyone else....perhaps it's those expectations that led to the death of this poor person...being seen as a simple psychiatric patient...rather than just a patient and a person!!!!!!!!!!

It was a waiting room in the psychiatric ward.

We don't know whether or not the staff knew the patient. Some patients live by themselves and do great, but still come in every so often to get check-up's et cetera. Some just come in because they feel safe and have nowhere else to go. Some even have sleepovers in the waiting room because the psychiatric ward is one of the few places they can really relax.

I agree that something like that should NOT have happened. It's a disgrace and a lesson to us all.

But I don't think it's proper to ONLY blame the staff or call them cold.

We don't know these very important facts:

- Did the lady have a medical record?
- Was the staff familiar with this?
- Was she a 'regular' within the hospital?

- How many patients came into the psych. hospitals that night?
- How much staff was on duty? Did they have enough personnel?
- How demanding in care were the patients that came in?

- The doctors and social workers who passed by without reacting - where they called to a specific scene? If they were reacting to an emergency call it might explain why they didn't feel like they had the time to react
- The nurse who had to get another nurse to check the woman: How experienced was she? Inexperienced staff will usually call for back up in case they don't feel sure about what to do - and they are usually asked to do this, because there is not enough resources for them to call in emergencies when there is none so better double check with more experienced staff members.

Etc. etc.

But again: It should not have happened. It's very tragic.

RE: What happened?

They feel intimidated by our coolness!cool

RE: Are women really looking for a nice guy?

Maybe you just date the wrong women... Ever thought of that? tongue

RE: What happened?

I dunno I'm out of suggestions. Perhaps an online lemonade booth or something? wine

RE: When a Man says he wants to take it slow...

I agree.

If a person has been hurt before, perhaps he or she doesn't want to rush into things right away. The sane thing to do is to take it slow and get to know each other. If you don't want to be seeing anyone else just ask him if you could be exclusive.

Stress connected with families

Do you ever stress out because of your families?
When was the last time your family made you wanna scream?

Most of us love our families but they can be a real pain in the… sometimes.

I have a dad and 2 brothers and they are all stubborn as hell (probably where I got my own stubbornness from!).

My dad had a stroke last summer and that almost cost me my scholarship because I wasn’t sure whether I wanted to go or not when he was ill. He recovered though and I still got to go.
Since then he had to visit the local hospital from time to time to get some tests done, to monitor his health. I’m listed as next of kin because my brothers are soldiers and stationed far off, and just a while ago I received a call from the nurse that my dad had missed his tests AGAIN. This is the second time in a month. I was still kind of sleeping when I got the call so I didn’t catch all of it (it’s around 11 AM in Denmark right now) but she sure did sound pissed off.

With my school, job and everything I don’t need this at all. I’m not able to go home and throw a tantrum at my dad until he goes and I can’t do anything when I’m over seas. My oldest brother will be home on leave soon, but he was planning on visiting me here. Now I may have to ask him to go home instead and tell our dad that he’s an idiot that will get himself killed or worse: Make me come home and kick his butt.

There’s only the three of us in our family, so he’s like 1/3 of our entire family and at that he’s our dad so he’s just a jerk for messing with his health like this. Normally I pay great respect to my dad, but not when he’s acting like he’s Superman.

ARGH!

RE: best accent

I like the British and Danish accents and of course the ever-cute Southern drawl.

Of course, I master all of them. grin

(Nooooo that is definatly not why I mentioned them!)angel

RE: marriage for the wrong reasons??

Call me cynical but I believe ONLY marrying out of love is the wrong reason.

There should be many different reasons for me to marry before I would, one of them out of love of course but the rest practical.

RE: how does one do that to someone

There should be handed out licenses to date and commit in relationships and drunk or irresponsible driving should have the same consequences as driving a car!!

If people actually had something to lose if they weren’t nice or respectful then I think a lot of heart breaks and/or disrespectful break-up’s could be avoided.

It’s okay to change your mind but at least have the decency so say so face to face – or at least not by text!

RE: the craziest thing u've done in ur life

I regret have done this very badly, but it is still a great story! blushing

My best friend was engaged a few years back when she discovered that her soon-to-be husband was cheating on her with her cousin.

So one day we snuck into his apartment (my friend had a key), took down his curtain hanger (which was a long, hollow tube) and filled it with frozen shrimps.

It was the hottest summer in years, so you can imagine the stench that soon filled up his apartment.

After having searched for the origin of the smell for a long time, her ex finally gave up and moved; taking the curtain hanger with him...

I wonder if there is a law against what we did?

doh

RE: the craziest thing u've done in ur life

Denmark is a very liberal county - which is why I didn't go to jail for a drunk drive-by mooning of 2 police officers (the driver of the car was not drunk, just embarrassed).

Instead I got a ticket (Bad Val! Bad! professor ) and a phone number. blushing

I seriously doubt it would be a good idea here in Texas. And NO, i'm not gonna try just to see what happens. wow

RE: the craziest thing u've done in ur life

A year ago I said goodbye to everyone at home, sold my apartment and all the furniture in it, got on a plane, travelled halfway around the world and signed up for class in a foreign country where I didn't know anyone and could barely understand what people were saying to me.
I didn't have a job, I had only little money and a room at the local bed and breakfast bought for 1 month only (meaning I had 1 month to find a place to live!).

THAT was crazy. But it all worked out in the end. cool

RE: hey ya'll

Having been in Texas for almost a year now I must say I find it quite hard to find more friendly people than here.

We just need to get them to write that's all! cool
