RE: GUN CONTROL: Just a thought looking for oppinions

Woody...that's why my dad left Illinois. Your laws are still a bit Draconian there. I prefer AZ where it's not illegal to carry in plain view (it's actually not here, either, but if you tried it there would be widespread panic, so I have my permit and carry concealed), or VT where they don't require a permit because the Second Amendment is your permit. (The only down side to this is a lack of reciprosity with other states because there's no permit to honor.) My state is good, too, though...it requires a permit, but is "shall issue", meaning if you pass the background check and they don't have a legal reason for you not to have one, they shall issue a CC permit to anyone who requests it, and we have reciprocity with many other states.

RE: should pagism be finally outlawed as an ' old fashion ' religion ?

As a Pagan, I would have to say, NO. And, my religion is hardly "old-fashioned"...with all of the eco-movement now, it's actually timely and becoming "in fashion" again, since it's the religion with the highest amount of new members now.

How can a religion that reveres balance in the world and whose practitioners hold themselves responsible for their own actions (no "devil made me do it" blame), and whose practitioners also treat everyone with respect since we respect everyone's right to their own beliefs and opinions, be "old fashioned" and in need of being outlawed?

Btw...Paganism is the oldest religion on Earth, it is an Earth-based religion, and the first step one makes on any Path within it is accepting one's whole self, for in order to accept others as they are, you must accept yourself for who you are. I started my awareness of this Path as a Wiccan, and one must spend a year getting to know oneself in-depth and accept one's "Shadow Self" or "Dark Side" before initiating. I have moved to such a deeper and more eclectic Path of study than Wicca at this point, hence being a Druid and Shaman, and moved away from spellwork...but it was a deep journey that first year.

Arlene, Pagan is a broad term that covers many beliefs, so there is much that you could read to understand it. Hopefully, my mini definition above helped somewhat...for you and others.

Thank you, GB, for your post above...I knew you understood it.

Ship...I'd smack you for that if I thought that there was any chance you were serious.

Thankfully, I know you better than that...and you live too far away for me to actually reach.

No...but usually if they seem too good to be true, I find out why eventually. I don't need to make up a fault...it appears in its own good time. After all, we all have them. It's just, is it one I can live with or not?

You've been there, too, HG...that's why I tiptoed back out quietly. It's ok...it didn't hurt, it just didn't strike my funny bone, either, maybe because it is still too close.

Animusic

Correction...DVD's are what have both the music and the animations...that's what we watched.

Animusic

Yes...really cool 'cuz the music is really good music, and the animations are awesome in depth. The shadows really move with them and everything. There are clips on the site to preview it. And I think they have a very wide appeal.

RE: LOVE on net...

applause applause That makes 8 that I've heard of from this site, thank you!

RE: LOVE on net...

Waiting for Kansan, Mindful or MM, KMD....there are 7 that I have seen share their stories about how they met on here, these are just three of the couples 'cuz I don't know the others as well.

My popcorn's almost gone, and they haven't shown up yet....moping

RE: LOVE on net...

I have seen the results on here of several success stories, so I am now a believer. For right now, I'm just having fun and am not ready to fall in love with someone, but I believe after seeing several successful happy stories on here.

popcorn Settling in to watch them tell their stories...it's better than a novel 'cuz it's real.

Animusic

If you're into good music, and like animation, these are CD's you must get! If you go to the site there are some clips. My best friend brought these over the other night and we watched them, and I thought immediately of some people from here who would love them! There is so much for the eye to see, and the music is really good too, so they're worth owning. I'll be getting them!

Anyway, just wanted to share with fellow music lovers.

Yep...unfortunately, me too. I try, and with the patch I make it down to 5 cigarettes a day...but can't seem to actually quit. I'm still below a pack a day from my last time trying it, but not by that much. sigh Someday.

Good luck, Kamelia. I hope you do it, especially since you did it before. hug

Doctors and hospitals kill more people than cancer, heart disease, automobiles and guns. Maybe we should outlaw doctors and hospitals.

RE: Why

laugh laugh laugh OK....considering what he wrote, I have to first point out the irony in relation to the original OP comments, of the "single muslims" dating site add in the middle of this page!

Now, to the serious side...if you don't like it, don't watch it. It's called Freedom of Speech, and they have every right to put it on there. Once you, as a Christian with no sense of humor, realized what it was, you had the ability to hit the pause button that's available on all videos.

Others have already stated the rest about them having a right to their beliefs and started the "who's on first" argument about religion, so I'll leave it at that for my post.heart wings

RE: GUN CONTROL: Just a thought looking for oppinions

That's why people who have been in mental institutions can't own firearms. That's not gun control...that's common sense.handshake

RE: GUN CONTROL: Just a thought looking for oppinions

hug That is why I own, and sometimes carry, a gun. Never want to be in the position of wishing I had it, and not having it. dunno I've been in positions which made it so that as soon as I was old enough to own one, I bought my first gun. It was my 21st birthday present to myself. When knives and martial arts have failed you...you learn why the gun is called "the great equalizer".

RE: GUN CONTROL: Just a thought looking for oppinions

That kind of thing does not happen "all too often" over here except for between criminals, so to take smaller concealable guns away from the law abiding citizen is still not the answer to the problem. I have a permit to carry my gun concealed, and I do when I want to or feel the need. I would not shoot anyone unless it was self-defense, nor would any law abiding citizen I know.

In places where it is known that citizens own and carry guns regularly, and most are armed, crime is barely existent. In places where guns have been banned, crime is highest. No, gun control doesn't work.

RE: Lets start by lying about our age

A currant is a deep burgundy/reddish berry used in mincemeat pie filling, similar to a raisin in taste when dried. You'll see them a lot at this time of year, along with the cranberries.

Anyway...no, I have no lies in my profile...what you see there is a good portion of who I am and what I'm looking for because I don't believe in lying.

Have I seen it online in others' profiles? Yes. Hence why I'm still single!
