RE: Does the smoking ban in public places go against human rights?

What's in bold should have been quoted. Sorry about that.

RE: Does the smoking ban in public places go against human rights?

It IS easy.

We fought for freedom for a 1000 years

No, you did not fight for freedom 100 years. THEY fought for freedom. You are merely enjoying the result of their fight.

From smoking to bananas

OK, let's ban smoking because it's unhealthy. Let's do more and imagine some things happening:

1. cigarettes vanish the next femtosecond... no more cigarettes. No more smokers. Cleaner air in public places. No more black lungs.

2. all the cars vanish as well... no more cars/vehicles to pollute the air. Cleaner air in cities. No more smog induced by cars.

3. alcohol vanishes as well... no more alcoholic drinks. No more drunkards. No more liver cirosis. No more vomiting at street corners.

A lot of no more's, and everybody's happy ever after.

Nice picture, isn't it?

Now picture this:

1' No more cigarettes sold, no more taxes on cigarettes, a lot less income for the state/crown

2' No more fuel sold, no more taxes on cigarettes, a lot less income for the state/crown

3' No more alcohol sold, no more taxes on cigarettes, a lot less income for the state/crown

3 times "a lot less" = "quite a lot less" and this has to be generated by something to compensate the loss. To come where from?

Let's see... what sells very good and is vital to people? Water, food... What next? Clothes. Next? Bycicles, as there are no more cars.

Further... electricity needs to be produced and it's price will go sky high

Nice picture, isn't it?

RE: Does the smoking ban in public places go against human rights?

Oh, bananas too? rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Does the smoking ban in public places go against human rights?

Yes, I do. Just like the EU imposed, some time ago, an interdiction on selling cucumbers shorter than X cm or bent (luckily they abolished this interdiction a short while ago).

RE: Does the smoking ban in public places go against human rights?

You could ask those who died of lung cancer and who lived far away of any smokers.

RE: The 'other person'

From where I stand, yes, it does.

Hi you too.

RE: The 'other person'

Your question sounds like "I have 2 horses, a black one and a white one. You may choose one but you won't get the black one"

RE: HM...HM...HM....

I'd do the same.

RE: Ginger??????? Come home

Yeap. And we had a great time at the Irish Party, last year.

I'm fine, thanks. Not so much time for socializing on CS but still reading once in a while.

Nice to see you too, nice to notice I walked by.

RE: Ginger??????? Come home

I miss her too.

RE: White Hair......

It happened 3 years ago when I was at the barber's. He covered my body with a black sheet and after he started cutting my hair I had the surprise of seeing a lot of white hair. You know, you really can see white on black laugh It was then that I realized how much white hair I have.

Does it bother me? Nope.I always connected white hair to wisdom ;)

RE: Why do men living in a relationship mostly have to

Holland is also interesting. They sort the garbage in white glass, coloured glass, textile, paper, etc. At the end (almost) all sorted garbage lands in the big burner rolling on the floor laughing

RE: printer / ink cartridge problems

Saving ink in a printer can be done by adjusting the print quality. Very easy to do in the "printer settings/properties".

For every day printouts that do not need to look perfect, choosing the "draft mode" will result in printer using a bit less ink. A lot of prints in draft mode will save more ink.

Printing pictures in hi-res and pro quality is what uses lots of ink. So, reducing the number of printed pictures will save again lots of ink. Or, reducing a bit the quality of the picture is the picture is not that important.

Printing web pages is also ink consuming sometimes. Some web pages have a link "print" to a another page with less graphical elements on the page, thus meaning using less color ink. If not, cust select the text you wish to print and print only the text selection.

Printing B&W or gray scale can also save color ink.

A search on Google with "reduce printing costs" (or something alike) will show much more trick to save on costs.

RE: Miro....

He used spikes on you? confused

RE: Marry Orthodox Xmas too all.......

Anyway... happy new year!

RE: Marry Orthodox Xmas too all.......

You mean the orthodox of the "old rite", according to the Julian calendar. Not all orthodoxs celebrate Christmas and New Year according to that calendar but use, instead the "new calendar", the Gregorian calendar.

RE: The Dutch language has a lot of French, Spanish, Jidish, German and English

Nope. There's only one official language in the Netherlands, and that is Dutch (Neerlands). Frisian is only recognized as language.

There are also attempts (since years) to get Limburgs and Zeeus recognized as languages as well.
