Yup...this is true! The cost for the cities rarely recoup themselves and stadiums are often left unused. That being said, there are short term benefits for the local economy, such as employment, tourism revenues, etc.And the citizens can reap long term rewards. They invariably focus on facilities put in place that involve transportation, communication and beautification, enhancing the quality of urban life. New or expanded bridges, roads and thoroughfares, mass transit systems and environmental improvements are all indelible long-term benefits. Not to mention the exposure of their fair city to the rest of the world. But I for one, am thrilled that Rio got it, they worked hard to earn it!!!
Congratulations Rio!!! They put forth an excellent campaign to win the bid...they worked hard for it! It would have been a huge economic boost for Chicago, but Rio definitely deserves to have it!!!
Thanks for your comments...you probably won't see me in here to much, it's like beating your head against a brick wall and frankly, it just became a waste of my time...because they relish in personal attacks instead of sticking to the issues...sorry you are going it alone....been there!! However, you can find comfort in the fact that the Dems have the power now...and they are just sore losers!!
Excellent point!! Now that we have a "real" threat in Iran..our military resources our limited because of the wasted allocation of resources in Iraq... and don't even get me started on health care reform!!
How funny...that is exactly why I quit posting to Obama threads...I was looking for enlightening conversation, but the only thing that I ever got was name calling, distorted facts and tabloid conversations...I was actually quite surprised that this thread was still going...but not surprised that it was all the same people!!! I do have to say that today...one Republican scored huge points with me, Senator Grahm from S.C. came out and said that he is so embarrassed by the looney's in his party that keep bringing up the "birth certificate" and "muslim" connections and that Obama is a good man and he wished his party would just stick to the issues dividing our country. He seems like a stand up guy! I think that if the Republican party stands a chance at saving their party that have to get rid of the lunatics!!
Oh yeah, people do it all the time!!! I wish I would have stopped and thought about how I would have felt if it was done to me! But I learned a huge and valuable lesson!! So, in the end....I guess something good did come from it!!
Testing potentials can be a very dangerous game. Believe me, I learned this the hard way. I won't go into details (at the risk of embarrassing myself) but I tested someone and he felt tricked and deceived...even though that wasn't my intention. I lost a friendship that possibly could have been something really special!! Honesty is ALWAYS the best policy...no need to test...time will tell you everything you need to know!
I'm not ready to buy into the "conspiracy theory" but there are certainly a ton of unanswered questions. Like the fact that it seemed to be a controlled collapse, there is no way in hell that wasn't a controlled demolition...JMO
It is hilarious!! But seriously dude, did you have to post it on every thread? Some people are sick of the Obama/Government hating! Shouldn't it go on the political thread?
Go to Edit Profile, then IM Settings, Click the IM Off button then save IM settings at the bottom of the page...that should do it!
Then if you are curious about who has attempted to IM you you can go to your mailbox and on the left hand side of the screen, click IM requests and it will show you who has attempted to IM you and If your interested you can IM them...hope this helps.. Cheers
