Talking to anyone is never a waste of time. If they can't hear you, politely repeat it. If that fails, politely rephrase it. If that fails, try again.
If you must abandon talking to someone, just abandon it, no need for running off and hurling cryptic insults (not saying you did).
Everyone complains that so many are rude, or one thing or another. If everyone was to live up to the standards they claim others are failing to meet there wouldn't be any of the nonsense going on.

Someone shy sent me mail regarding this thread countering some of what has passed in this thread. No idea why they mailed myself instead of you, but I will pass it along.
I'm paraphrasing but the sentiment remains intact.
If you see no men you would be willing to date in the area you currently reside, is this a proper area to raise your daughter in your eyes?
Our children are products of their encironments whether we wish them to be or not. We can of course curb it somewhat but the examples set before them are still there.
Not to slam the area you mentioned, but maybe that's a large part in itself.
Toronto offers professional employment in a lot of fields unavailable no where else in the country aside from maybe Vancouver, Ottawa, or Montreal. Perhaps the men you're attracted to are the types of men that are drawn to professions which are based in Toronto.
