Now, what I'm hearing from what you've typed is don't expect anything, but distance yourself if it isn't what you like. Sounds like semantics to me.
And don't look for someone who will "behave by your standards", but maybe you should seek out someone with a similar set of standards or a set you find acceptable.
In a matter of speaking, sure. But what we choose is based on who we are, which in my opinion is based on what we have experienced. I'm not saying everyone is shaped the same way by the same events, just saying we can't help but be a product of our environments.
Every single thing that ever happens to and around us, relationship related and otherwise shapes who we are. It all has a direct effect on how we interpret and deal with everything, relationships included.
