A young man shopping in a supermarket noticed a little old lady following him around.
If he stopped, she stopped. Furthermore, she kept staring at him.
She finally overtook him at the checkout, and she turned to him and said, "I hope I haven't made you feel ill at ease; it's just that you look so much like my late son."
He answered, "That's okay."
"I know it's silly, but if you'd call out 'Good bye, Mom' as I leave the store, it would make me feel so happy."
She then went through the checkout, and as she was on her way out of the store the man called out, "Goodbye, Mom."
The little old lady waved, and smiled back at him.
Pleased that he had brought a little sunshine into someone's day, he went to pay for his groceries. "That comes to $121.85," said the clerk.
"How come so much? I only bought 5 items."
The clerk replied, "Yeah, but your mother said you'd be paying for her things too."
I know of several instances where my mother, my son and a niece have seen my father........after he passed away due to a stroke.
My brother saw a woman sitting on his couch one time as he was going outside to smoke a cigar. Says he could see the couch thru her.
My nieces, his daughters have had experiences with ghosts. One spoke to the oldest telling her she had to do something. At first she thought it was her sister before realizing it was too early for her to be home from work. It scared her into going upstairs to sleep on the couch (She had a basement bedroom). As she was laying on the couch, she could see a light coming up the stairs. Before getting to the top, it disappeared.
The youngest had a picture taken with one of those Polaroid cameras by a friend while on the bus going to school. In the picture there was a young boy standing just behind her and he wasn't on the bus. They could see him in the picture but not behind her. Another time, she was babysitting when the little girl walked into the livingroom and pointed next to my niece. On the couch, next to her was that little boy.
My son was home from school in his bedroom when he heard the door to the apartment open and close. He thought I was home from work early and went to look, my father was standing there. This was several years after his death.
I've been up to the family camp a couple of times by myself since my father died and can almost swear I have seen him just out of the cornor of my eye. This was one place he loved being at as it had been a dream of his.
My brother, mentioned above, went to the camp to get something with the intent of staying the night before returning home in the morning. From the moment he walked into the door, he had the strongest feeling that he shouldn't be there. The longer he was there, the stronger the feeling got. My brother has been an MP in the Army, Correctional Officer and in security. Not much bothers him but this time, he went with his gut and left after being there for less than an hour. If he had stayed, he would've had a hard time getting out as the road into camp washed out due to heavy rains we recieved. This was a year ago last Oct. He lives near the Vermont/Canada border which is almost 3 hours from the camp.
Dated a 24 year old when I was 40. Didn't work out as she expected me to dish out the cash I didn't have.
Dated a woman who was close to 15 years older than me. We went our separate ways when her father passed away (She disappeared for two months saying she couldn't deal with anything or anyone) We still talk on occasion
The one my heart has settled on will be 46 this coming Sun. Wish I could be there to help her celebrate it.
It was built with 24 tons of scrap steel from the World Trade Center.
It is the fifth in a new class of warship - designed for missions that include special operations against terrorists. It will carry a crew of 360 sailors and 700 combat-ready Marines to be delivered ashore by helicopters and assault craft.
Steel from the World Trade Center was melted down in a foundry in Amite, LA to cast the ship's bow section. When it was poured into the molds on Sept. 9, 2003, "those big rough steelworkers treated it with total reverence," recalled Navy Capt. Kevin Wensing, who was there. "It was a spiritual moment for everybody there."
Junior Chavers, foundry operations manager, said that when the trade center steel first arrived, he touched it with his hand and the "hair on my neck stood up." "It had a big meaning to it for all of us," he said. "They knocked us down. They can't keep us down. We're going to be back."
I was in the Coast Guard at the time with this one. We had just returned to the air station after a rescue and I stepped out to watch the rotor blades during shutdown which was standard procedure.
Well, normally during rescues we wear a belt attached to a strap from the ceiling in the helicopter when moving around the cabin and working in the cabin door.
When I stepped out of the helicopter, I was still wearing that belt. For someone at around 5'5" and up, it probably wouldn't have been an issue. For me, I stopped with my feet several inches off the ground.
It was at least a month before I heard the end of it
