Can you ever answer a question or come up with a counter argument without resorting to silly quotes from the fairy tale book?
What has the above quote to do with justifying the murders and atrocities committed by christians of various denominations throughout the ages? Oh yeah, I'm asking a christian to actually think, my bad
Well if you go around a country known for being the home of some of the most fanatical muslims around, unarmed with no military training, and waving your bible around, I guess you're pretty much asking for it.
The Marine Drill Sergeant in the movie is one of my favourite heroes. He's done a documentary series for Discovery Channel called Mailcall, I suggest you check it out
Well amongst the horse nomad peoples of the great steppe, I think the ones that fascinate me most are the Sarmatians.
They're the people who according to current historical records are most probably the ones who gave rise to the 'myth' of the Amazons, as apparently Sarmatian women weren't seen as social inferiors, but as equal partners.
In fact they were allowed to hunt and ride into battle as horse archers with their men until their society merged with the Scythians, which then led them to a more 'traditional' male oriented hierarchy.
Many Sarmatian tombs have been found of female skeletons buried with (apart from more usual female items) arrowheads and axes.
There's actually a Christmas special episode from Black Adder where they find this time machine invented by Leonardo da Vinci.
(Mis-)using it, they cause the dinosaurs' extinction due to Boldrick's smelly underpants, land on top of Wellington's head just before the Battle of Waterloo causing the French to win and conquer England, and getting Shakespeare remembered as the inventor of the 'biro' instead of his plays
You bible thumpers NEVER ever give up do you? I'm really starting to believe Emperor Decius was quite right to try to remove christianity from the Roman Empire back in the day....
Who founded the jewish sect that later developed into christianity and ultimately led to the catholic & protestant churches?
You know, it would be highly amusing, were it not so hypocritical of you religious fanatics how you always squirm out like an eel whenever you are put into a corner when debating.
Instead of answering questions to which you know you have no redeeming answers, you come up with some irrelevant tangent or some silly quote from the fairytale book also known as the bible.
Anyway, I think this thread has lived long enough and I don't think I'll be posting again on it. As usual, it's been a useless exercise trying to reason with people who've cast reason aside in favour of 'faith'
If the slob mother gives birth to a kid who'll grow up to be someone worthy of respect, then I'll respect that kid, not the slob mother. Simple isn't it?
By the way, I never said I'm perfect either, was just debating the silliness of your original point. Then again, unlike you I never considered brown nosing a positive thing...
Expressing respect and admiration to a particular individual (whatever the gender) is great so long as said individual is WORTHY of that respect.
Applying a statement of 'beauty, respect etc' to EVERYONE irrespective whether they deserve it or not is ludicrous, and in the end, is DISRESPECTIVE to those who are truly worthy of such respect.
Take a hard working mother who works hard to raise her kids well and provide them with a good home, love and education; and compare her with some slob of a mother who pops out babies so she can just claim more social benefits, and doesn't care if her kids even learn to read and write. Are they both worthy of respect and admiration, just because both happen to be women?
I'm sure you'll get the point Laura, you're one of the intelligent ones in here who does have my respect after all
Isn't the reason that drives them to want to be the alpha male caused by testosterone; with the end objective of being the ones with the mating rights with the group's females?
According to your logic, said baboons are fighting BECAUSE of their females.
Even one of the eldest poems recounts the tale of a war caused by a woman, ever heard of the Iliad?
By the way, this is not meant as an attack on women, I for one am glad they exist; I just don't go with the tripe of thinking everying is 'beautiful' (whatever the gender).
