Americans this morning woke to news of 10 aid workers murdered in Afghanistan. They were six Americans, one German, one Briton, and two Afghan interpreters working for the International Aid Mission. The Taliban claimed the traveling medical team was “spying for the Americans” and “preaching Christianity.” The International Aid Mission is a Christian NGO that has operated in Afghanistan since 1966. They do not proselytize or discriminate on the basis of religion in delivering medical assistance."

Make senses to me....I blogged on in the Obama thread. Both why they did not have a military security detail and why the Taliban would kill them.
Taliban see this as a religous war....Moslen vs Christian. We don't.
But they do. It is a question of perspective.

Well if you go around a country known for being the home of some of the most fanatical muslims around, unarmed with no military training, and waving your bible around, I guess you're pretty much asking for it.

How strange. The Taliban did not exist until the Afghan Civil War which was well after the Russians had left.

If nobody has won a war then how on earth did the Taliban take power? And, would not defeating anybody constitute a victory considering that the Taliban themselves, while many are Afghans, many are not.

Taliban came from Pakistan, it wasn't an Afghan sect but was home grown in Pakistan and set its self up after the Russian were defeated.
Trying to win the hearts and minds of the people using Christian doctors in my mind is the same as sending gun slingers in, its as much a part the current stupid attempt to install external power over the region as dropping bombs.
You cannot change the Karmas of people born in that region like that. But then that sort of thinking is clearly to complicated for sheep to understand.

Victory was achieved the moment the Taliban high tailed it out of Tora Bora. The rest is preventative maintenance so we don't have to go back again and, just doing a favor to the Aghan people.
Oh, and Bin Laden was never an official reason for the war rather the Taliban were to stop aiding and abetting terrorists, turn over their leadership and close the camps down. They didn't and, are no longer in power. The Afghan people voted for their representative leadership under threat of death so am sure they accept him.
