But I think that there are many people in the world and luckily every of us is different from the other. We may look for those who are similar to us. Yes, it is difficult but I think more difficult is trying to get rid of our values.

smoky, yes, I agree the parents have great responsibility for instilling values to their children but also the kids groups, friends, schools, tv, and now the Internet is responsible for it.
The world is changing. Some values change also. For example, who can say nowadays that being honest or responsible is his priority in life. I wonder what values disappeared by your meaning.
Hello Smoky, I can speak Enlish, Polish , and Russian. When I started to learn German I had forgoten English partly. But then, after repeating each day English and German those both languages in my mind liked each other and I was open to learn them both. But when I reached past time in German I had to stop learning it. Maybe if I hadn't stopped learning I would have been able to speak German now? I believe that the best way is the practice every day of each language what you know.
And maybe people who use deceiving others do it because they are afraid of something, themselves for example?... or it gives them a kind of satisfaction, "yes, today I have deceived more folks than ever"...

Joining the conversation, I have never used FB. I have no time for it, this is the first. The second, I prefer contact via e-mail with people who I know. If I wanted selling something to earn money then I could start the FB account as I think FB is good media for marketing.
It is really difficult to stop smoking and to keep to it all the time but I now people who stopped smoking definitely. When somebody has very good motivation (for example an illness and a strong advice from a doctor to stop smoking) he may do it.
If you are afraid of cultural differences you can look for people close to you culturally. I think it depends from people who they want to chat, meet with. If cultural dependencies are not very important for them they may get to know more people here.
I think when we want too much and do too much the other person can disregard us and do not respect. Maybe this is not the rule, because people are very different but I can notice that those who really want to know the other person for longer period of time better do if they stay more quiet. But what to do when we are energetic person? The best way is, in my opinion, to find a person with the same energy.
I agree with lifeisadream. I think also it is really difficult to find true love on the internet. Some people have luck and find themselves but it happens rarely. Web cam could be good idea. If he does not want it or does not want any other form of contact try to forget about him and do not write to him. If he really wants better contact with you he will write first.
