I am not sure what you are saying but let's forget "woke" for a minute..... now, regarding student loans: if i take out a loan, a student loan, any type of loan, it is obligatory for me to pay it off.
Our president brings up the first and one-time-only student loan forgiveness whenever he wants 26 million votes. That is not equitable for anyone else, adds to our 31 trillion dollar debt and forces those who paid their student loan(s) or never wanted or needed a student loan to pay for someone else's education indebtedness by taxation.
Today We in the pay for other's educations through taxes and interest charged by banks to fund student loans and pell grants. More recently is the unequivocal unequal and inequitable idea to forgive student loans that then can only be paid back by increased taxes on everyone to pay for them.
Regarding your last question about opportunity. I think the usa will see both improved equity and opportunity for all if the government stops bean counting where someone is from and who does what for all things gain-full like educations and employment.
Typically, I consider most advanced educations are those that are beyond undergrad work. a few examples of exceptions of course are in the medical, dental, environmental, engineering, communications, legal fields etc etc.
I think you may know the answer to your own question already, Jac. It is my belief that equity by government means is like saying that I and my posterity should pay for some slackers advanced education(s) that is especially troubling when I think more than likely the people holding advanced degrees will never need or use it/them to provide for themselves.
