Dunno, if it's just the one company that's doing it but guess they'll all follow suit soon enough anyway 
I remember decades ago in the 1960s propping a shovel in the fireplace, throwing sugar on the fire then covering it up with newspaper to try and get it going. It worked as well! Not sure if this was an Hull thing or if everyone did this in the olden days Also, the room had to be decorated every six months 'cos the wallpaper and paint used to turn brown so quickly As you say, the room was really warm except for all the other rooms. I used to light all rings on top of the oven to try and warm kitchen up
but I managed to cycle 3 miles last night in the headwind without getting off to get my breath back. So, I must be getting fitter or a glutton for punishment
