RE: IMF

Maybe you should take a lesson from your buddies in the IMF and try FOCUSING instead of running your mouth off accusing people of belonging to parties to which they neither belong nor support. doh

RE: why did God die on the cross for you?

One Solitary Life

He was born in an obscure village
The child of a peasant woman
He grew up in another obscure village
Where he worked in a carpenter shop
Until he was thirty

He never wrote a book
He never held an office
He never went to college
He never visited a big city
He never travelled more than two hundred miles
From the place where he was born
He did none of the things
Usually associated with greatness
He had no credentials but himself

He was only thirty three
His friends ran away
One of them denied him
He was turned over to his enemies
And went through the mockery of a trial
He was nailed to a cross between two thieves
While dying, his executioners gambled for his clothing
The only property he had on earth

When he was dead
He was laid in a borrowed grave
Through the pity of a friend

Nineteen centuries have come and gone
And today Jesus is the central figure of the human race
And the leader of mankind's progress
All the armies that have ever marched
All the navies that have ever sailed
All the parliaments that have ever sat
All the kings that ever reigned put together
Have not affected the life of mankind on earth
As powerfully as that one solitary life

Christianity is about a relationship with a risen Saviour.
Jesus has had more impact on mankind for good than any other person.

RE: Is it ok to drive and listen to headphones?

I was returning home recently from a town about 20 miles away, having been to the local Police Station to pay a Speeding ticket. According to the Cop, I was doing 65mph. in a 40mph. zone -yeah right!!. Anyway, as I left the Police Station, once I removed the Parking ticket for parking in a Police Car zone, from under the wiper, I headed home down the Motorway.

To my amazement, I saw a voluptuous Blonde with a fabulous pair of legs driving a brand new Mercedes at 80mph, with her face stuck up against the rear-view mirror whilst putting on her eyeliner. A few seconds later as I briefly looked back again, she was cutting across my path, with her face still stuck up against the rear-view mirror. This scared me so badly that I dropped the donut out of one hand which caused me to drop the cell phone right into the cup of coffee which was held tightly between my legs, nearly scalding Jim and the twins, as I tried to straighten out the car with my knees. The cell phone is ruined and I was disconnected from an IMPORTANT call!!

RE: How far do you think are we away from an ECB bail out?

Nice to see the 'hurlers on the ditch' out in full force, and not one to be seen doing anything about it except whine. The IMF have clearly stated that Ireland does NOT need their help. That the direction the government has taken is the correct direction. I suppose the IMF is part of Fianna Fail too? A 'bail-out' from the ECB is no more than a loan from our partners at a lower interest rate than that available on the Bond Market. The one thing that Ireland does not need are the 'naysayers' and 'negative thinking' people. Our Exports are up 12% on the same period (November)2009 - obviously someone is getting on with business and not whining.frustrated frustrated

RE: Aetheism...genuine or a cop out?

It takes intelligence to use one's "natural talent" in an intellectual manner. A pseudo-intellect merely puts forward 'theories' which may sound nice, but are totally unsubstantiated and based on a pseudo/false/low level of intellect, but are sufficiently convincing to only themselves. They lack sufficient intelligence to see beyond or enquire beyond their level of intellect. This impediment, in it self, creates fear of accepting what is so obvious and proven.

Not one person has challenged the scientific evidence already posted - why, because they are incapable of disproving the scientific evidence produced, which they, the pseudo-intellectuals demand. The scientific evidence dispenses with the idiocracy of their theories, so instead they continue to defend that needless fear, by indulging in verbal diarrhea - this thread is a prime example and proof of that.

RE: Aetheism...genuine or a cop out?

I just love it when these 'pseudo intellectual' atheists come out to pathetically try to disprove what has already been proven.

Dawkins in his typical hypocritical manner contradicts himself several times in the post - here he says;

"The trouble with tradition is that, no matter how long ago a story was made up, it is still exactly as true or untrue as the original story was. If you make up a story that isn’t true, handing it down over any number of centuries doesn’t make it any truer!"

His alleged letter to his 10 year old daughter is a continuation of what he despises "Tradition". Yet he is attempting to hand down his 'belief', thereby establishing 'tradition' to the next generation, without any proof whatsoever.

When science does provide proof, the skeptical atheists will immediately try to disprove it, and one can only wonder why, when they demand scientific proof.

Atheism is a sect, a sect of absolute abject nonsense. The best proof that there is a God, are atheists, since one can not oppose that, which doesn't exist.

For those who do not believe, no explanation is possible; for those who do believe, no explanation is necessary.

I'd like to see how the atheists are going to disprove this scientific FACT:

or

Lanciano - Italy.
"As a postscript to the Miracle of Lanciano, we should note that in 1978, a group of scientists from NASA performed an intensive examination on the Shroud of Turin, using all the sophisticated scientific equipment available to our Space Agency at that time. Among the many findings the scientists made in support of the authenticity of the Shroud, a very significant discovery was found regarding the blood type on the Shroud. It was AB positive, the same blood type as found in the
Eucharistic Miracle of Lanciano. More and more, science has verified what we have believed in Faith for centuries."

RE: Question for your politician

Just remember these two politicians can't promise anything - IF they do, question them on their authority to make such promises. If they then say something like "well it's FG policy when we are in government" ASK to SEE the written Policy. Don't expect them to show it, but demand it. Make them realise that 'words' mean absolutely nothing. If the FG politician starts on the party rant of blaming the Government - again ASK to see the FG Policy in writing, but again don't expect him to produce it. You could remind the young farmers that EVERY VOTE is counted Individually and that THEIR Vote is FOR SALE to the Party which comes closest to meeting their demands. I know this isn't a general election, but it sends a clear signal back to the relevant Party that the people are serious about a solution, even if the politicians aren't.

RE: Moral Dilemma......

Yes you did, by the way the question was posed.

RE: Moral Dilemma......

I never suggested or implied there was an 'obligation'. I said "There is not one scintilla of 'charity', 'love' or 'understanding' of, or for, the other person."

RE: Moral Dilemma......

Excluding the 'christian element' is the basis of your moral dilemma - hence your self-centred approach. "Working for trocaire" does not in itself establish one as a christian.

RE: Moral Dilemma......

If he was humanitarian, the question wouldn't have posed a 'moral dilemma' in the first place.

RE: Moral Dilemma......

What a pathetic selfish thought that is! It seems to me you're taking a very self-centered approach to this. So far your responses have all been about YOU - the hurt YOU might feel and the Risk YOU might be taking. There is not one scintilla of 'charity', 'love' or 'understanding' of, or for, the other person. You might want to review those things, before even considering entering a relationship with a healthy person, because, God forbid, YOU may be the unhealthy one being left alone. How do you know you'll outlive the other person, you don't - but wouldn't it be charitable, christian and loving to have made the other persons life happy, for whatever time they have left? It certainly would be the unselfish thing to do.
