Our political leaders have said that we do not need an ECB bail out, these are the same politicians who said the good times will never end, that it was just a small correction in the housing market, and that there were no problems whatsoever with the banks.
So just how far, or close, do you think we are, from having to be bailed out by the European Central Bank?

We are being urged to take it and take it now! It's either now at 3% or next week at 5%. The euro is under threat and they are terrified that this is going to spread to Spain!

I`m confused , I thought IMF was sorting you out not ECB
100 years ago people were giving there lives for Ireland. The leaders of today only care about themselves and not the country. I hope there is no general election until the ECB or the IMF come as it should occur on Fianna Failure's watch.
If the ECB does come in there would be no point in an election. Who ever gets in will have to do what the ECB says anyway, If FG and Labour have any sense they will not call for an election, but let FF be seen as the ones doing the groveling before the people of Ireland, the EU and the whole world.
Not that I have any faith that the rest of the free loaders in Leinster House would have done any better if they had been in power.

I usually find that a good indicator of things to come is listen to what the government says and then imagine the complete opposite. This government clearly have no clue what they are doing and i'd say most people have absolutely no faith in them whatsoever.
trueword: Agreed, except that it will take longer than 10 years, on the bright side, Ireland will be a better place to live in, I found the Celtic tiger era to be nauseating, idiots strutting around telling you how great they were and not a brain in their head, and that's only the government.....
Truly a sad era and very little to show for it, in fact nothing when the books are balanced. I thought we were better than that, but unfortunately we have well and truly shown that we are not.
I do 100% believe that a better period lies ahead in many ways....
I have to hand it to Brian Cowen and FF! Not content enough with bringing down the country, they've set their sights on the Euro zone!
Nice to see the 'hurlers on the ditch' out in full force, and not one to be seen doing anything about it except whine. The IMF have clearly stated that Ireland does NOT need their help. That the direction the government has taken is the correct direction. I suppose the IMF is part of Fianna Fail too? A 'bail-out' from the ECB is no more than a loan from our partners at a lower interest rate than that available on the Bond Market. The one thing that Ireland does not need are the 'naysayers' and 'negative thinking' people. Our Exports are up 12% on the same period (November)2009 - obviously someone is getting on with business and not whining.

Vote FF much? Sounds just like the party political line complete with naysers and negative thinking people, just to refresh peoples memories this line was trotted out by no less than bertie ahern who suggested publicly that "Naysayers and whiners should commit suicide"
What a despicable thing for the now disgraced leader of a country with one of the highest suicide rates in the EU, you are an offensive embarrassment!
There are none so blind as those who will not see!

It is far from an ECB jobbie!
Questions should be what did they do with the million pounds a day they took from the EU?
What did the Paddys with a little land and no pot to piss in one day and the next holding armfulls of cash?
More...............what are all these Tinkers doing in UK living in caravans on illegal land, robbing householders in bodged tarmac and paving jobs?
The government left the door open too long and all the crap moved in from everywhere and thats why it is a cesspit!

Common knowledge within the business community for months. Those of us who deal with financial institutions and financial products on a daily basis see where this is all going, it's so sickening to see a Government blatantly lying and spoofing to it's citizens in a vein attempt to cling to power. The Germans will sort this all out eventually, but we will suffer....... just watch the emigration of our graduates and young people from now on, so sad to see this and to witness the governance of our country effectively handed over to another state because of the greed of our politicians and political elite. Sad indeed.

Serious brain drain, sad and then we are left with idiots who go on to be TD's
