In a debate you have to use what is agreed on as a valid reference. Saying something is in the bible does not work. I read Lord of the Rings....so Mordor must be a real place
That is EXACTLY (part) of what I said and even though you know I said it you have no answer to give me. I well know of the "proof" that has been shown for a long time of the flood in the geological record, but it FAILS.
As I said........come back when you are properly versed.
The search for truth starts with an OPEN (undecided) mind.....and you don't have that. You just want to convince us and "win" somehow.
I'll give ya ONE shot to throw some GOOD science in...if ya can.
The earth is about 4 billion years old and the current geology and geogrphy is NOW as it was THEN at the time of the flood - only a handful of millennia ago.
Tell me how water rose up to a point to cover mountains and then left again since the earth was not and is not smooth and the volume of water on the earth varies little.
You can not allow for god "helping" nor break any known laws of physics or ignore the geological record.
Right there...fist lines - no need to go any further as you've made my point.
I've not denied god's power, but the fantasy that he would intentianlly throw us a curve ball of univeral proportions to allow for some ridiculous faith/s.
You hit the nail(or 3 if you need 'em)on the head. The science needed to make the flood a reality do not exist....thus the story is more likely at fault.
Let's see....geology, physics and anthropology for a start.
If you are just going to say "God can do anything - so science doesn't matter" then I'll let you have your fantasies and and no longer address you directly.
While I myself do beleive in a god and creation I also believe it follows a design - that we study - we call the study science.
If you want to step halfway to something sensable like saying "We do not yet understand how god did such things, but we will endeavour to learn w/o jumping to fantasy." then we're on
I don't hate the guy or even dislike him. I just like people to THINK and absorb info to be able to make better decisions. I will DEBATE , but I will not ARGUE - that gets nowhere.
Because science trumps ALL....when you show me a faith w/ crap science it is false....on the points in question anyway.
My beliefs fit 100% with science ...except where (maybe) god decided to alter physics (a miracle) or something happened and we just don't YET understand the science of how.
IF this crazy flood happened to wipe out evidence it FAILED.
We do indeed have evidence of pre Adamite(based on the simple counting backwards using supposed ages in Genesis) life......dinos and homonids that clearly ARE NOT the same as we(homo sapiens) are. There are even plant types that would not have survived so He woulda had to fix that problem as well as the fact that the seas salinity changes come into question.
Either god couldn't do a flood right or it's a myth.
Except it is impossible for a solid body(non-gaseous planet)to be smooth.
If you reject physics and geology then you are being ridiculous. At least try to learn enough to fit faith and fact together.....some of the greatest scientific minds accepted both and sought to fit it all together instead of presenting outlandish stories that make no sense and compromise either faith of fact.
If you'd just accept that there could be a god and these fairy tales are not needed to have faith you'd be up on the game.
I've gone over this Ark BS many times and love to see them flounder when faced with the reality of the situation......it just couldn't happen, but they persist - physics be damned.
Now some of the (few) smart and learned ones know of Larkin's Dispensational Truth which presents some good arguments on some of these myths, but nowhere near enough for realistic folks to buy it.
Funny...to be so into your faith you just broke one of the big rules by judging me as if you know my heart. NO MAN knows anothers heart and if you are a Christian you will apologize.
I'm fairly sure you've not discovered anything relevant that I've not read or heard about. To start w/....do you read Hebrew or Koine Greek? First step for you is to get rid of some translation done by MEN with an agenda. There is some proof of some events mentioned in the bible as well as most religious text, but there is still NO PROOF of many of the crazy claims like returning from the dead or walking on water plus many more.
When in San Antonio, TX I went to the Cornerstone Church and after the service we from the crowd were allowed to ask questions. I asked mine (was yrs ago and don't remember what it was) and the guy....one of the elders...looked at me and smiled.....basically said a few quick words and ran away - he was smart enough to not go there.
As I said....I amf ine w/ god and have peace. I search for the truth and am open to all and give all a say....knowledge is power, but I can tell ya....RELIGION is just bad news.
There is a BIG diff between someone that prays "God - show me the truth...whatever it is" and someone praying "God(or whatever name of their god) show me that my chosen religion is true."
Dude.....give me ONE piece of REAL evidence and I'll be at church tomorrow.
I'm 42...grew up w/ a grandfather minister....served around the world in the Marines and also was a Muslim for years. Having loved both science and religion for many many years I've studied both enough to know you can NEVER "win" this kind of debate. Matter of fact....Jesus "supposedly" said that there will be no proof. If you want to keep your faith w/ less doubt I'm not the best one to mess with
RE: What do you think about the Ark Encounter?
