Do we place too much trust in doctors without knowing their track record ?
Yes I think we do, My daughter had something called Perthes disease (bi laterally).. Its a hip disease, when the ball of the socket loses its blood supply and starts to die (Necrosis).. she has had LOADS of hip ops .. traction.. hip spicas (body casts) and has had a hip replaced.
I've been through a lot of doctors- specialists.. because some of them didn't seem to know what the hell they were talking about.
When something happens to me or mine.. I read read read and READ... and it it doesn't sound completely RIGHT to me.. I get a 2nd.. (or 3rd) opinion.
The Orthopaedic surgeon we were given, said he has only seen it twice in HIS career.. So I knew there and then he wasn't the man to do he Ops. I checked him out too.. and found an old patient that was VERY unhappy with the results.
I found a particular method of doing it.. called the *Catterall Method*.. that is now used all around the world. Eventually.. after A LOT of hassle and a lot of travelling.. I finally got her Ops (over time) done by Mr Catterall himself.
(The same when they told me they thought my son had Leukaemia.. and *I* found out he had actually been bitten by a rat which showed a lot of the same symptoms. lol) ::phew!::
So anyway... what was I saying?
Oh yeah...
No.. I never take their first diagnosis as *Rule*... I check THEM out.. and check out treatments and procedures FIRST.
I think they are like ANYBODY.. in ANY job/profession...
Some people are good at what they do.. some people are middle of the road.. and some people.. you wonder how the hell they got the job n the first place.
Just BECAUSE they are *Doctors* doesn't mean they are always right.
Oh well.. yeah.. in a relationship.. I WOULD expect a *thank you*.. the same as I would thank someone.. that's just polite.
But I meant in general.. making someone's (a strangers?) day.. by doing something nice.. then, I wouldn't expect any thanks. I just like to know I helped in some way to make their day better.
(that's WHY I work in *Care*)
and remember
haha...
*People may not remember what you said.. but they will always remember how you made them feel*
That's very true... sometimes I see someone.. and think .. grrrr but I cant remember WHY I don't like them.. but I remember at some point they said or did something that I didn't like.
