A Hero

Medals are for heroes
commendations for the brave
courage and devotion
bravery, sacrifice,
flow in their veins

We celebrate and honour
those who carry
such a life
giving and unequalled
price often the life

One man saw a need
stepped into the fray
his life was exchanged
so we could slip away
he stood alone for us

Blood was spilt
life was taken
we could escape
where is his medal ribbon
never had one

He died for people
to save them so....
Jesus was his name
a substitute who came

Invitation

Faith is the hand
that leads you,
to a place
where truth is

Truth has beauty
truth has answers
no deception
are found in her

Love embraces
find those traces
lead us to God
by faith our
eyes will see.

Can You Feel?

Can you feel the wind
blowing on your face
as the world turns
it can forget where you are

Standing in no man's land
it's a silent lonely place

Can you feel the groans
of a spirit within
coming upon a world
that leaves you on the rim

Standing in no man's land
it's a silent lonely place

Walking on you'll get by
though sometimes wonder why
problems are doorways
we all have to open soon

So carry on
come rain or wind
come gail or storm
we carry on
and soon we find
that peace of mind
it's waiting up ahead..

Remembering Rain

Cool mornings knock my door
open up to a day once more
trees stand firm and true
wind caresses the leaves in you

High above the sky with cloud
dark the thunder voice is loud
rain is falling like before
on the windows on the door

I remember a long time past
in a tent by the river slow
fishing lines cast out there
as the rain fell everywhere

Remember it well my friend the rain
now I see you once again
wind is blowing I can see
a boy fishing with family....

Call of the River

---- IMAGE REMOVED because photobucket.com no longer allows embedded images ----

Down through the forest
of evergreen trees
I hear the river
she's calling to me

Come to the bank
so covered in green
see the great river
a joy to be seen

Down looks the eagle
as feet rush to see
follow the heart
that is beckoning me

Nature its wonder
from mountain to sea
follow the river
that calls out to me

The Flowered Feet

Beyond the window she did see
a field of green lie silently
the blades of grass cool view
within a purple yellow sea.

Through the field barefoot she trod
as tall grass brushed her ankles there
that purple yellow quilted scene
that was the glimpse of meadow green.

The dawn had only just begun
and not long too the rising sun
as one by one the flowers yawned
and opened to another dawn.

Her feet covered by fragrance there
the purple and yellow coat
flowers so colored fair
still and bright were everywhere.

The fragrant flowers open her heart
the petals are her moving start
inviting love to blossom there
the woman with the long dark hair.

Serene and still a fragrant air
she lay upon that yellow bed
and purple haze amidst the green
and beauty thus revealed a queen.

Shift

One more night shift
and it's home
daylight come
can't wait to get home
friday night
weekend's here

No more night owl
hooting away
back to daytime
and clouds of grey
welcome sight to see
a world of daylight too

Foolish game

It seems we judge
so easily
passing thoughts
on others

Hardly stopping
hardly thinking
who gave
us that right

Self-appointed
moral setters
why do we
act that way

Judge not
simply understand
no sentence pass
from our lips

Dare to be
different in life
we are people
in a world of strife

Show a little mercy
touched in sympathy
as that person
could easily be me

Never Alone

There is hope
for the weary,
joy for the sad,
love for the loveless.

There is life
for the burdened,
peace for the soul
a road to wholeness

Jesus our hope
for the traveller
for all on life's
turbulent sea.

A cross is there
a soul to meet,
salvation awaits
all who believe.

"Come unto me"
and he did say
I will not ever
cast you away.

Keep on Trucking

Keep on trucking
so many faces
i got to see
hitching a ride
people and places

keep on trucking
city to city
chasing my self
down again
in the pouring rain

keep on trucking
right into dreamsville
where love
is surely waiting
wanderin man and home again

Words

Words become a sword
when we cut someone
if they should be cruel

Such become a weapon
when they run you through
piercing the very heart of you.

Sometimes deliberate,
often in haste,
many times unintentional

Still, they cut
for we are
hasty of tongue

Bitter and sweet
both do meet
when people speak

Curtains of Time

Open these curtains
made of our years
holding all that
we once were

And to lay hold
of curtains like these
select a year
as you part them

Backwards or forwards
where would you go
and if you could change things
what would that be?

So if it could be
what would you do
remain in the present
or reach for the past?
