Immortal Love

All the time in the world is
Slipping through the hourglass
This moment
Could be the last
We have together
Nothing lasts forever
Except love
It goes above
And beyond the span
Of the lives of a woman and man
Their love carries on
Even when they are gone
They will always
Remember the days
When they walked hand-in-hand
Barefoot on the sand
No need to say
A word
To convey
What cannot be heard
Only felt in the heart
Of the one from whom you will never part

Duet

I've been through so much pain
But never again
Because with you by my side
I don't have to hide
What I've felt all along
A beautiful song
A song meant for two
A song I'll sing with you

Perserverence

With no windows or doors to be seen,
I tear down the walls between.
Though there will be obstacles, never
will they keep us from being together.

I'll break these chains
with the strength I retain,
until nothing remains
to part us again.

Call me a fool.
Call me naïve.
Just don't tell me to leave.
I need to love.
I need to see
that someone cares for me.

Free Spirits

Glowing,
Free-flowing
Spirits, bestowing upon each other
The desire to be lovers.
Too naïve
To yet believe
That someone would leave them broken
With not a word spoken.
All day
They will play;
Together they soar on the breeze,
High above the waving trees.
They sail
With the gale
And never fail, for they can see
Their spirits are free.

Silenced

Frustration tightens the noose,
So I try to let it loose,
But who can hear
With fingers in their ears?
So many times I've tried
To make my feelings known,
But their mouths open wide
And their minds clamp down.
They hold on to their views
Of how things ought to be,
And say the path they choose
Is the one that's best for me.

Immortalized

Standing at the top of a waterfall,
I swan-dive off the edge
with no fear of death.
So long as you hold my heart,
I need not fear a thing,
for I will never truly die.

Pursuit

Don't back down from what you dream
As difficult as the task may seem
Others might not be so keen
But don't give in to fear

Just listen to your wild side
Let curiosity be your guide
It's the chance of a lifetime
So take it while it's here

Despair

In her eyes I thought I saw
her heart cry out to me,
not realizing that her eyes
reflect just what they see.

My churning mind is cast aside
by my lonely heart,
keeping me from love, of which
I long to be a part.

Night Flight

Walking with you to your house
We share a desire to be close
Holding you in my arms
Our kiss is bathed in starlight

Feeling the rush of passion
We get into your car
Running away together
Into the moonlit night

Driving down the interstate
We roll the windows down
Letting the wind catch our cares
To watch them fly away

Perfect Imperfection

They tell me perfection
does not exist in this world,
and that I could look forever
and never find the "perfect girl."

But who could ever be imperfect?
Since we each see love
in our own perfect light,
I might find what I'm dreaming of:

a girl who doesn't care if her hair's a mess;
a girl whose mind can sometimes stray;
a girl who loves to joke around;
a girl who will wear her pajamas all day.

People can say what they want,
but it doesn't matter to me.
I'll define my own perfect girl
and decide who that might be.

Ruined

Every victory
Written on parchment
But the ink is blurred
From the countless tears
I've shed

Every friend
Standing by my side
But their faces are hidden
By the darkness within
My mind

Night & Day

I kept my head down
to stare at the ground.
What is there to see
in a sky as dark as can be?
With no stars to light the way,
I lose my hope for a coming day.
I walk alone in darkness,
surrounded by the heartless.
Slowly getting old.
Quickly growing cold.
Suddenly, a light shown
brighter than I've ever known.
Warmth returned to my skin
and hope began to grow within.
I never thought that I
would once more look to the sky,
but what is better to look upon
than the brilliance of the dawn?
