on carpet of wight smoke
innocence broke
and shadows of war drew tight the cloak
painting faces with death and flame
for the evil of nations gain

wise men to a manger follow stars light
three magi with a blessing to recite
bearing gift of gold,incense and myrrh
to a birth no mortal king can deter
and come beneath where stars light had been hung
Mary with babe and rejoicing angels sung
as each to bended knee in that humble place
paying homage and thank the lord for grace
the first to know this gift given to embrace
