gentle falling rain
a gift sent straight from heaven
soaks earth with blessing

I've spent some time with my new man
So I've been away for a while
What do I see when I come back
A pile of poetry that's oh so bad
The stink reaches right to heaven

Saint Peter there at Pearly Gates
Is forced to wear a gas mask
The smell so bad what can he do
His eyes are dripping water
'I'll go and see God' says he

Now God was not unaware
The smell had reached the throne room
'Lock the gates, don't let them in
We'll send them down to Satan
He can have the bloody lot, good riddance to them

Now Satan being a crafty lad
Didn't want the place so smelly
Sent Beelzebub amongst the lot
To pose as another poet
And set them all a new challenge

'This time we'll write' said he with a smirk
'A poem so good and holy
About angels and things all heavenly
And a prize for the best one written'

One by one they wrote their poems
And the smell slowly dissipated
Safe was hell from that awful smell
And the Devil went celebrating

Big blue eyes that stare at me
from a face framed with golden hair
alabaster cheeks and ruby red lips
so delicately you sit upon your chair

I know it's wrong to want you so
for to another you belong
but I cannot help what I feel
to want you I am weak, not strong

So one quick look all around
no matter what I must possess you
pick you up and off I run
Mermaid Barbie, to you i will be true

So there I stand on the edge
Eternity before me
Soon this step I will take
And finally meet my maker

Time
through my fingers slips
like trickling water
gathering momentum
suddenly it flows
so quick
where has it gone
Time

Been a while since I've been here
and missed all these readings
now some I see are really nice
and some just plain pornographic
saddens me that a woman would write
such utter filth and degradation
but then I realise that poets know
some are born plain nasty
I think that most on here
are kind and decent people
to the ones that write this crap
I just won't be reading it

What a terrible feeling to come home and to hear noises,
noises that come from the room that we share, share our love
and there you are with another, doing what I thought never,
never would I see you do, to break my heart, tear it out
and then you lie, justify, she means nothing to me,
just a fling, said so casually as if I should understand,
not only forgive you but condone it, as if my fault
trying to blame me, make me feel guilty, but the truth is out
truth is she was one of many only this time I found out
though you broke my heart I don't need or want you anymore
I close the door as you leave shutting you out of my life

time slips by
as you sleep
and when you awake
love has gone
the sparkle in eyes
slowly faded away
and hair turned grey
where have the years gone
where is our youth
our dreams
our desires
turned to dust
blown away in the wind
Tick, tock, tick, tock

There was a time you meant so much
but now not sure when it was.
There was a time I loved you eternal
it seems eternity has slipped away.
There was a time my heart beat faster
but you stopped that fast beat.
There was a time when you and I were one
but you chose her and left me.
There was a time I believed in love
now love is ashes in my mouth.
