BECAUSE YOU CAN.......

So...What's it like,
To be Sooooh bad...You're good,
Soooh cool...You're hot?
Always seen at the best places,
Out of town when you're not.
To have a reeeel tan...
Not from booth or spray,
To always be seen with a girl on each arm,
Like you do...It's your way...
Because you can!
I was like you once,
But hey..
Now...I'm a happy man!

Something.....For the weekend (Please add to!)

It seems, the time has come to put away childish things,
Real life, I think, has beckoned,
.....I ponder as the doorbell rings.....
A change I never would have reckoned....

Has waved its hand over thoughts inflection,
There where,forest lore,
....Meets gate of sky perfection....
Outside my door, man from nevermore.....

"Never have I seen before
Yet in his hands is an offering
A silhoette of a beauty
So endearing
His weary eyes so glowing
His lips so amusing
Carrying in his soul
Silence, beyond deciphering."

'The man from nevermore he sighed
Held out the life I'd never had,
Hot tears fell to his cheeks and dried
His silence almost drove me mad'

A silence beyond all human comprehension
It was meant to be a golden translation
A figure in white, silhouetted against a blue sky
With an offering of peace he drew nigh.

Tis a special gift , and free to all,
Who hear the knock and receive the call
then leave themselves and follow keen
an image seen in quiet pool, and languid stream
Tho' dark and distant becomes more clear
With faith and hope and love held dear...

He dropped his head
within the light
YES!
I knew him!
"Nevermore"!

Yet closer I looked, changes there were
There were tracks of tears upon it
Where once were written words of shame
Had changed to words of wisdom
How could this change have happened so
Was really to me an enigma...

He traveled far and wide, this man from Nevermore
Running away, hiding from the light
Only to find he can’t from his conscience part;
For like a shadow it followed him day and night
angel dancing...

asleep, happed upon a memory, one angelic night
recalled an age of reason, when everything was right
to search no longer, he'd found his goal!
but fast came the dawn, abrupt and rife with portend
alas for he, such a gentle soul
again without warning, joyous time was at end

OK then...elo has kindly supplied the second verse...
Windy weatherly the third....Thanks LB for the 4th...You too Paloma for the 5th...Scher for the 6th...Sophia for the 7th, Steve the 8th, and OrientalKoru for the 9th...And thankyou Hedi for the 10th
still room for a lot more yet though!...lol

HAVE A GOOD DAY..(An old fashioned poem)

Hear but not listen to all people say,
Brave the darkness of the shadows in the day,
Then, you’ll be able to sort the blurred from the stark,
Find the light that’s hiding in the dark,
The needle in the hay.

Do the best you can,
To fairly regard your fellow man,
Look for good, when others say it isn’t there,
When they walk away, if, you resolve to stay and care,
Then, when all is set, and looks to fail,
The chances are you will prevail,
And the darkest of days will turn out fair.

THE WAY BETWEEN THE WORLDS

Ask this of the one who’s eye’s burn like the stars, he knows!
He has seen the rising of our sister’s sun,
The transient ghosts as they come and go,
They say, the current even chooses to go through him as it flows.

They say, He sees the flecked indigo of the Swirl with second sight,
Senses the invisible boundaries,
Charts the ever shifting colours in the Swirl, as they change and merge,
Knows, when to press on, when to hold, as he dances on the edge of light.

He let’s the eddies in the current steer his ship, solar wind fill the sail,
With such unbelievable skill,
For the edges of the current are like two sheer mountains, rubbing,
Would crush anything touching, in an instant without fail.

I’ve tried…I’ve looked and I’ve looked, but only see plain space,
Four suns…Two moons,
And our sister on the other side…..
If you look carefully, you can just about see her face.

Aye Lad…Ask him!….Maybe he will tell you of the eddies and whirls,
Opposing dimensions, the phasing of space time,
Colours….The transient ghostly Asteroids and Stars,
For He truly knows, of the way between the worlds.....

For a Friend

Do you think I haven’t been in that dark place,
Not looked in the mirror, seen my own tear streaked face?
Ahhhh…..Loneliness my friend,
You think you wear it well,
You think that those around you,
Just don’t know, just can’t tell,
That carefully pasted on smile,
May fool others for a little while,
But, I’m too wise,
I can see it clearly in your eyes,
Spare me a little time, come for a walk,
If you want, only if you want,
We can talk,
There’s no need for you to be on your own,
No need to cry alone,
Just come around, tap on my door,
It’s no trouble,
It’s what friends are really for.

A LITTLE MAGICK!......LOL

AAALLLLLAA……….kaZZZZam……..Poooooof!

Well, there you go princess,
One ugly frog, now princely man,
Just hope with this transmogrification,
Comes much wanted love action,
And, that on your wedding night,
All his bits work, to your satisfaction……..

OOOOOOH!...YOU ARE A ONE!

Oooooooh, You are a one,
When yer on ‘oliday, it’s all sand sea and fun,
With yer frizzle frazzle,
An razzle dazzle,
Ra ra skirt,
An yer bikini with tassles,
An ya stop an sniff the flowers,
Poking yer tongue out at old folks glowers,
An telling me to wake up an smell the coffee….
Well I sure did,
When I saw on yer chests,
Kiss me Kwik, and on t’other…Do ya luv me?

THE PRIZE

Can we ever see past the choices we don’t understand?
Past action,
Past reaction,
Past cause,
Past effect?
Don’t be afraid, come, take my hand.
Stand with me on the precipice,
On the edge of forever,
The edge of darkness,
Edge of life,
Tiny as it seems, see the light.
Have the confidence,
Take the step into the void,
Know all will be,
Exactly as it should be,
As all in the universe turns out right.
Have the courage,
To walk in darkness, in the footsteps,
Of those that have gone before,
Through the labyrinth of life,
Knocking on door after door,
Until the right one opens,
‘til all is done,
To your satisfaction,
Knowing you have truly done your best,
And, could not have done more.
Then, will come the time,
You will realize,
The final truth,
Enshrined in ghostly golden folds of shimmering light,
Not of gold itself….More precious,
The ultimate prize,
The meaning….Of your Life!

In The Playground

Adrenalin overload....He shook,
He gave and he took,
Trading blow for blow,
No time for a second look,
Ducking,
Diving,
Weaving,
Fleeting thought of leaving,
Bloody nose,
How many? .....God knows,
Too many taken blows,
Swollen ears,
River of tears,
Hidden fears,
The kicks, the bites,
Seeing stars like lights,
But still he fights,
Or he’ll get a hiding when he gets home.

IF

If....In the land of yesterday we dwell,
There will always be "Fare thee well",
Though if we live in the world of tomorrow,
We will meet again there, no doubt, I know

About this poem:
I read a very good poem yesterday about people leaving our Poets Corner. I have been writing here for nearly 4 years I think and have seen a lot of friends come and go, some return, after a rest, but, one thing I have learned is that while there are people here, new friends or old, aspiring, or accomplished poets, there will always be beautiful poetry, and I truly believe that it will always be so. Please forgive the title...lol.....

On.....The Pursuit Of Happiness

“Life’s a b*tch....and, then you die”,
Originally penned by someone, now unknown,
We know not for what or why,
Maybe, his life’s chance had flown,
He couldn’t catch it, or maybe didn’t even try,
Whatever, in this he will not be alone,
And never mind, cos we’ve got other fish to fry.
For some people all it takes to be happy,
Is a brand new addition to the tribe,
Kicking and gurgling when you change its nappy,
For others perhaps, just the feeling of being alive,
Or watching someone on a stage sing, or be funny,
While more just love their chosen study and strive,
Some like sitting, counting their money,
Or folk that write in rhyme, or complicated plots contrive,
While talking about stormy weather turning sunny.
Whatever floats your boat, or rings your bell,
I hope you live a happy long life,
Free as much as possible from sadness and strife,
And, by your own standards.....Live it well!

The Poetry Of Poetry

The poetry of poetry, is,
It has the essence,
To be apart,
Yet, have the presence,
The heart.
