THE LAST UNICORN

When Mother nature slams the door,
The draught will roar,
The clouds will race,
At a breath taking pace,
The solid ground will shake,
Rock, will grind with rock, to make,
The hardest stone turn to sand,
With nowhere exempt, from land to land,
As lightning split’s the sky,
Creatures of the night, in daytime will fly,
The worldly wealth of gold will turn to lead,
The great oak will tremble and humbly bow it’s head
As the bluebells ring,
And…..The last Unicorn ……..Starts to sing!

THE COMING STORM

As you close your eyes,
Let your mind become as deep and clear as a mountain pool,
Ignore for now, the latent rolling thunder in your consciousness,
Feel the gentle breeze upon your skin, reviving, cool,
Imagine a peaceful woodland glade,
In all it’s perfection, by nature made,
The chuckling of a gentle stream,
Wending it’s way down through pastures green,
Listen…Can you hear her?
Can you feel her begin to stir?
Gaia….Mother Earth herself…She breaths!
Call forth the thunder….Unleash the storm!
Feel now, the oceans and seas, how they heave,
The tempest seethes,
The heavens open and the rain pours,
Orchestrate the lightning, bring the wind that roars,
And now that you have the fate of mankind in your hand,
DEMAND…..
Of man that he should pause…..
For he stands at the threshold of the door,
That once opened will bring upon mankind,
All the Gods’ imagined wrath and more,
Make him believe,
The time has come to see some sense,
And offer our Mother some recompense!

When..........

Underground lair,
Noisy, acrid, smoke laden air,
Drunken barflies hovering,
Waitresses bothering,
Then she walks on,
Positions a stool to sit upon,
Puts a half burned cigarette, up the neck end through the strings,
While some much worse for wear, stare from the wings,
Then, a blanket of silence over the whole place she lays,
As the first chord she plays.
Legs crossed...My feet on the table, hat tilted over my eyes just so,
Telling folk I don't want company....They know,
Sipping the perfect iced gin,
It's always like this, when Cassy plays the mandolin.

TEMPTED?.....lol

Hey Y’all, queuing for the cheap seats and the stalls,
Let me show you my world, where the darkness speaks volumes,
As do the walls.
Any of you recognise yourselves in any of these tortured souls?
These?….Or those, toasting over the red hot coals?
Don’t be shy now…..You can tell me,
For to me your lives are of a delightful perspicacity!
Remember when someone once said they could see right through you?
You’ll love this….It’s a hoot….I really can do!
Perhaps ….You…..would like,
A privileged and prosperous life?
And …You…And you….A devilishly handsome husband,
Or a beautiful mini skirted wife?
None of it’s as impossible as you think,
I can fix anything for you, as quick as a wink,
You only have to say….
Well….that’s what friends are for, hey?
One …Small…Formality….Just sign here on the dotted line,
Stating that for favours granted…..
You would like your soul to be….MINE!

Flowers in the wind

Though the wild flowers blow in the wind,
they are not lost,
for God is the one,
who knows the number and counts the cost..
For, when the earth opens,
and, the tempest overcomes,
there is nought for his children to do,
for this is their time to sleep, as their spirit succumbs.

STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND.(Part 4)

The atmosphere settled to a calm,
Suddenly, no more wind, now warm with a feeling of balm,
The mist deepened, then, a disembodied voice,
“Ah….My turn at last, now you have seen both sides of a choice,
If only you would open your eyes,
Cut yourself loose from your earthly ties,
Dear Heart and Brain, both thinking of your interests the same,
Yet, they are poles apart, and as so, will always remain.
Come with me……
See what a wonderful being you are really”.
Instant euphoria…..I was free,
Floating high above the earth, everything beneath me,
I know now that I am my own spirit,
Feeling so beautiful, so light, I can hardly believe it,
“You see”….Once more the disembodied voice,
“More than you knew, now, how much more of a choice?
I cannot control you, I am only your mind,
Between Brain and Heart, only a mediator of a kind,
We three are only a part of your wonderful being,
You are also of Soul and Spirit, as you are now feeling,
We, are only here to guide you upon this world,
Feel yourself now, in all five parts, a miracle unfurled”.
Then, as these final words were spoke,
I was back on this earth, in bed, just awoke,
Gone now was the keen wind that blew,
Replaced by a warm feeling, I was home…I knew,
Knowing things could never be any other way,
Knowing with all my being, I was going to stay,
So clear to me now, the once blurred line in the shifting sand,
A knowing, of no longer being…..A stranger in a strange land.

STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND.(Part 3)

Diffused by the mist, in the sky, a wonderous light display,
As electric shimmied back and forth, raw energy at play,
“Some say there is something of the night about me,
Just because I am a mystery",
The mist cleared, I felt the wind drop,
He appeared sitting there on a rock,
Just tapping a stick…Tick….Tick…Tick,
“Ah my boy…..Life….Just like Arithmetic”,
Lightning strike…..
Diffused blinding light,
“My fidelity is unquestionable,
My depth unfathomable,
Hah, seems the way I talk, it’s all me, me, me,
But surely you can see,
I’m the one that gets you out of problems dear Heart puts you in,
I’m the one that always helps you to win.
I’m not being malicious,
But, is your reason for staying merely salacious?
You can tell me, I have no empathy, no sympathy,
Just jelly and channelled electricity,
Look, if you go, you will always have me, we will never be apart,
And though he might disagree, the same goes for dear Heart,
To stay….Now that as a decision, total logic defies,
If you go, the future’s yours with clear blue skies,
You get to keep everything for yourself,
Not share it all, have nothing for yourself.
You may think this is selfish, not at all,
It’s just that, you will only have you to think of, that is all.
Ah….Feel the magic, the tick, tick, tick of arithmetic,
As simple as converting imperial to metric,
So from wanting some kind of emotional response from me, please refrain,
Logic is my stock in trade, I simply am your brain“.
Another lightning strike,
Another blinding flash of multicoloured light,
He was just suddenly…..Not there,
Though I looked , I could see him no-where,
But, not so much now does the keen wind blow,
No longer the chill right to the bone,
Not so blurred now, the line in the sand,
Not so much now, a stranger in a strange land.

STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND.(Part 2)

The cruel, keen wind ceased,
The cold, iron grip on me seemed released,
“Take my arm, would that you should walk with me awhile,
And if the fancy takes me, then perhaps I may talk awhile“.
He wasn’t there before,
I had felt a draft, like the opening and closing of a door,
I couldn’t see his face,
Was it the shadows of the mist or this strange place?
We could have walked for a long time,
Though truly, it could equally have been a short time,
And he did speak after some while,
I knew somehow his truth, no deceit or guile,
Only a sentence or two, or, it could have been a book,
Persuaded me to see myself, take a long, hard look,
“Many”, he said, “Say I am illogical,
Not at all my friend, I am optimistic, metaphorical.
If you stay, you’ll have a feeling of belonging,
No more wanting or longing,
You will build a home,
Never again be alone,
On the other hand if you leave,
Only yourself will you deceive,
I have shown you all you will miss,
A whole life summed up by a long, loving, lingering kiss”.
I can’t seem to remember, when he came or when he left,
His leaving though, left me feeling somehow bereft,
His final words to me, as he faded and we drifted apart,
“I hope you have heard me, for I truly am your heart“.
Then, once again, the keen wind, chill to the bone,
Feeling of being even more alone,
Again, walking the blurred line drawn in the shifting sand,
Again……A stranger in a strange land.

STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND (Part 1)

The cold chills me to the bone,
In this place, I feel so alone,
There is no sun here, the keen wind blows,
The cloud around me isn’t telling, though I think it knows.
One say’s, “I am your heart, listen to me”,
The other says, “No, I am your brain, listen to me”.
Somewhere in the gulf between,
My mind, always present, never seen,
Can’t decide what to do,
Can’t choose between the two,
One says “Leave”, the other says “Love”
One taking the part of hawk, the other of dove,
And great pain does this on my being inflict,
Knowing whatever, I could be the future casualty of this conflict,
Walking the blurred line drawn in the shifting sand,
I am indeed……..A stranger in a strange land!

Trouble Is.....

Trouble is as trouble does,
and will do so again,
Trouble is as trouble does,
will drive me insane,
Trouble is as trouble does,
I don't want to play this game,
Because,
Trouble is as trouble does,
and I will get the blame.

THE HOW and WHY of ELEPHANTS.....lol

Elephants are such brilliant creatures,
They come fully loaded with excellent features,
Why has an elephant got green feet?
So it can hide upside down on a snooker table and not be seen,
That’s really neat!
Ever seen an elephant hiding upside down on a snooker table?
No?…
Darned good camouflage hey?
And…
There’s more to say,
Before I finish this fable,
What does an elephant do when it gets stuck in a tree?
Why….It sits on a leaf and waits ‘til autumn,
Don’t you see?
And to stretch things a little further possibly,
How about getting four elephants into a mini?
Two in the back and two in the front…Silly,
And …
There’s still some room in the trunk…Heh Heh!
