A Tribute: Single Mom to Paul Walker/ Mr Mandela 2

I'm not much when it comes to Hollywood stars and all that
But you see Paul Walker... Sir; I owe you a lot
For what you stand for in life inspired my son so much
The passion, the humility, the willingness to share
Your fortune and blessings to the rest of humanity
Maybe in my case it cuts deeper even more
Knowing you died while raising funds for my people!

As I grieved for the passing of your young life that
Influenced and inspired the life of my child
Tonight I too must farewell the man who helped me
Keep things together while I was drowning.
Mr Mandela, the world's greatest Tata
Your passion, devotion, courage to keep your fight
Your patience, resolve, faith for your people to unite
You taught me sir how to forgive and love!

Thank you sirs for the examples that are your lives
Though unknown to you, like bright shining stars
You have sprinkled stardust amongst us!
Lucky we are to catch a glimpse of your light!
RIP to both of you for a job well done
Your memories will linger because as Thomas Campbell says:
'To live in the hearts we leave behind,
is not to die'-

Beneath the Whitecaps

You're the lamp that shines bright onmy path
Who gives my days deeper meaning at last
The answer to my never ceasing pray'rs
The very reason for my being here
Love so true, ne'er will I to forfeit
Though wind my crest shall break, yet
With your hands wrapped around mine
I'll cross stormy seas and oceans
I'll bravely walk through death's valley
Fear of the unknown settled by your calm
Painful labor gives birth to a new life
Looking ahead forging trust and respect
Harmony is woven in undying faith
My peace forever lays beneath
Fleeting white caps visiting, lapping
The beautiful shores you and I tread!

Laws of Nature

I was never good at Chemistry and Physics
But finally I've learnt a bit of each
My pH level can make me crack or itch
And my weight grows inversely proportional
To the amount of affection I receive!

When Tears Dare Fall

When tears dare fall
But only manage to well
In your eyes, blurring vision
and all you can handle
Is a sigh, nothing more
as heart feels stabbed
by a dagger plunged
deep into your very soul

senses break down
whole being numbed
like burning candles
weakeness overcomes
jelly-like knees succumb
the pull of the ground
so strong a force
for a weakened one

don't give in
don't give up
pause a minute
breath in and out
send a prayer
Up above
Rest your weary soul
laden with so much sore

Dare not forget
There's One not very far
He sees your heart
He reads your mind
He hears your cries
He feels your pain
For you are His
Own precious kid

Sobbing is your voice!
And tears are your words!
Never discount
Nor under estimate
The power of a language
Only He best understands!

About this poem:
I pray a lot and at times cry...not a lot...but just so I can purge the undesirable out...I prefer doing this over indulging in pointless arguments or making others feel guilty when I don't get what I want...

Cliffhanger

Weakened by the storms crossing my path
Strongest roots exposed as soil awashed
Leaning from a cliff, held only by an outcrop
Will I shudder in the cold of a cloudless night?
Or will I bake in the heat of the midday sun?

Quickly next to me you sprouted, grew!
Your branches in a flash caressing mine
You towered above my height oh so very fast
You sheltered my being with the shadow you cast
Entwined our roots now firmly on ground

Each wind that blows, that bends you; bends me
Each flood that suffocates your roots, suffocates me
Each twig plucked off you is protection robbed of me
Each branch broken is a branch that won't touch mine
Our roots entwined, take yours away and you take mine

Yankee's "40 words" challenge...

Fast that you may know
how hunger transforms you
Sleep on pavements, experience
no roof nor for your butt a soft bed
Turn off taps, shower not!
Feel what's like having
no water to drink or wash!
Maybe you'll understand!

About this poem:
I have no idea if this will cut it Yankee but I'm fuelled still by what's happening in my home country. To show respect to the victims I've not posted anything on social media except sharing posts about what's going on...and what people and places are doing, big or small, to help...or at least understands the plight of the victims. I am disheartened that a lot of my own people are rampant in posting "look at me I'm beautiful" or "look at my stuff" kind of photos. I wrote a poem to express my dismay.. from which I extracted the 40 words I have submitted for your challenge.. Thanks for the opportunity...

FLAUNT NOT

When calamity strikes...
life ain't gonna stop
and us, the unaffected
as usual, carry on,
drop a coin,
with life, move on

My only wish, to consider
for a moment, let's stop!
feel their pain, their grief
respect how they're suffering
the departed and survivors
both victims!...

On social media pages
give a bit of space
a chance for the world
to hear, feel, digest
respect for the unfortunate
deal with the aftermath
of this haunting catastrophe

wear their shoes...will you?
Fast that you may know
how it feels like
tummy grumbling
for having none to eat
Even just a day,
will help you understand
what they're going through

sleep on your floor or
better on your lawn
that you may experience
no roof over your head
or a soft bed for your butt
Even a few hours will help
you understand
what they're going through

Turn off your tap
And shower not!
That you may feel
what's like
to have no water
to drink or wash!
Even just a day will leave
your throats all dried up!

just for a wee moment
would be nice, not to flaunt!
expensive cars, branded items
made up faces, sexy dresses
awesome holidays and cruises
tone down the brightness of
your gems, stones, jewelries!

Nor do they want to see or watch
what sumptous dinner you got tonight
or your gourmet cup of coffee, tea
from the posh cafe you so love
That killer slice of
dark chocolate mudcake or white
Just keep that out of sight
just for a very short wee while!

Take your snap shots
just the same
All I'm asking...will you hold
for the right moment
before you plaster, post them!
On your colourful,
popular social media wall!

let's hold hands and give
the thousands of victims
a chance to be seen,
a moment to be heard
opportunity to be aided
right to be acknowledged!
and may be a tad relieved?

We all expect countries,
organisations to give
to help, to rebuild
But how soon we forget
Giving starts from within
right here, right now, their plight
by simply respecting!

For a moment let's not be selfish,
Can we help others have a grasp;
FLAUNT NOT yours but theirs
Victims' faces and ordeals
Words that empowers, inspires!
And your Acts of random kindness!
