Avalanche!

Written by Michael Sharp September 2014

Victor was a carabinero, or police officer, stationed at the remote Chilean customs compound known as Los Libertadores, high in the Andes on the border with Argentina. Since Victor had received special training in mountain rescue work, he was usually assigned to dangerous areas like this one. He enjoyed the mountains, but missed his family.

It was July 3—the heart of winter in the southern hemisphere—and a snowstorm raged outside. With winds of 100 kilometers (over 60 miles) per hour and the temperature at -15°C (5°F) before the windchill factor, Victor and the 57 other people in the camp were bunkered in for the night.

Suddenly, Victor heard a deep rumbling and instinctively looked at his watch. It was 8:38 pm. Since small tremors are common in that part of Chile, Victor didn’t think much of it at first, but the shaking grew stronger. Then the lights went out.

Seconds later, the roof collapsed and Victor found himself trapped between a wall and a large piece of furniture. The temperature around him dropped quickly, and Victor wondered how he would ever come out of this alive.

As Victor would find out later, the high winds had caused an avalanche at the top of a nearby peak and sent a mountain of snow down on the customs complex.

Victor managed to pry himself free from the rubble and dig his way out of the snow. Once outside, he realized that the other buildings around had also collapsed.

Then Victor heard a child’s cry and he dug through the wreckage until he found a baby girl. The child was wearing only a diaper and a T-shirt, but was otherwise unharmed. Victor quickly put her inside his warm police coat, where she could receive warmth from his chest.

With no heat and almost no shelter, unless help came soon, the survivors would all freeze to death. Before the avalanche, the camp’s only means of communication with the rest of the world had been a two-way radio, and now it was damaged beyond repair. Victor quickly realized that it might be days before anyone would even know of their predicament. Their only hope was for someone to walk to the nearest neighbor, a ski lodge about two kilometers away, and organize a rescue.

Victor asked for volunteers to go with him. No one came forward, so he set off alone, carrying the baby under his coat.

Eight hours later, Victor stumbled into the lodge, exhausted.

After turning the child over to others and then getting a hot shower and a quick meal, he was ready to lead one of the three rescue teams. As a result of his actions, 31 people were saved.

As I listened to Victor tell his story some months later, one important detail was missing. I asked about it, but Victor kept evading the question.

The next day Victor’s wife showed me her scrapbook of newspaper clippings about the avalanche and how Victor received a hero’s commendation from the president of Chile.

At last I persuaded Victor’s wife to reveal his secret. “He doesn’t talk about this,” she explained, “because he thinks people will say he’s crazy...”

“As Victor was walking through the blizzard, a bright light appeared off to one side, almost like a streetlight. But as Victor trudged through the deep snow, it moved with him and it lit the way, more like a spotlight than a streetlight. The light led Victor straight to the lodge. Many times along the way, Victor sank so deep into snowdrifts that he couldn't free himself, but each time he felt someone grab him from behind, pull him up, and set him on his way again.

“And there’s one more thing. The light that guided him was no ordinary light. When Victor looked directly into it, instead of radiating from some sort of bulb, the light was coming from Jesus’ face.”

Excellence is doing ordinary things extraordinarily well. John W. Gardner

Written by Peter Amsterdam Tuesday, 01 May 2012

When the topic of personal and social values comes up these days, it’s often in the context of what kinds of movies, music, reading material, computer games, and Internet usage are good or acceptable, and which aren’t. Often, this generates quite a bit of disagreement between generations and even between peers. That’s not surprising, because all of these things are highly subjective. Something that has an obvious bad effect on one person may not seem to have a bad effect on someone else.

Some people have the attitude that a lot of violence, gore, or foul language in movies doesn’t have a bad effect on them. They like that kind of movie and don’t think it’s harmful for them personally. But whether they realize it or not, or want to admit it or not, regular intake of things that promote or condone these types of attitudes and behavior does have an effect on their spirit and will eventually come out in their own attitudes and behavior. They would probably be better off if they asked themselves not only, “Is this harmful to me?” but also, “Is this good for me?”

Of course, the smartest thing any of us can do when we aren’t sure whether something is more likely to influence us for better or for worse is to look to God’s Word, the Bible, and to measure the thing in question against the standard we find there. The word used in most English versions of the Bible to describe the kind of good effect I’m talking about here is “edify,” which means “to enlighten; to improve the morals or knowledge of somebody.” The Bible makes it clear that we should pursue things that are edifying and avoid things that aren’t.

It’s impossible in this hi-tech, media-driven age to block out everything that could have a bad effect on you, but if you recognize a particular influence as a danger, you will try to minimize its effect by minimizing your exposure to it. It all comes down to personal conviction—how convinced you are that something is harmful to your spirit and how serious you are about avoiding it.

DELIVER US, LORD, FROM THE SPIRIT OF "BUSYNESS"!--TOO BUSY FOR YOU & TOO BUSY FOR YOUR WORD!

To learn from the Lord, you have to stop & look & listen, or you'll get run over by all the cares of this life, instead of running over with His Truth, His Love & His Joy! If you drive yourself too hard & too fast, you may never get there! You'll get out of touch with the Lord & our Heavenly Headquarters. Like the little girl said about the kitten, "Oh Mama, the kitty's gone to sleep & left its engine running!"--You may run around but still be asleep spiritually, & you may not be getting anywhere--"as one that beateth the air"! (1Cor.9:26

"You cannot do the Master's WORK without the Master's POWER!"--And to get it, you must spend TIME with the Master! The Lord said but one thing is needful: To sit at His feet & learn of Him. Those who have chosen this good part, it shall never be taken away from them! (Lk.10:42) So if you're too busy to pray, you're too busy! If you're too busy to get alone with God & pray, you're too busy!

So "take time to be holy"!--Wholly His! He says, "Be still, & know that I am God. In quietness & in confidence shall your strength be!" (Psa.46:10; Isa.30:15)

THE UNSEEN WORLD AND HOW IT WORKS

Embedded image from another site

The Supernatural 9/07

A veil exists between the spirit world and the earthly plane in which we live. However, God on occasion opens or lifts this veil to reveal to us His truths. “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him. But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God” (1 Corinthians 2:9–10).
*
God’s visible creation is an illustration of the things in the spirit, a picture of the world to come. For everything there, there’s a counterpart, a natural example, here. “For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made” (Romans 1:20, KJV).
*
The present material world is only temporary, but the now-unseen spirit world will never pass away. “Of old You laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of Your hands. They will perish, but You will endure” (Psalm 102:25–26). “The things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal” (2 Corinthians 4:18).
*
The apostle Paul explained that our perception of the unseen world is presently somewhat obscured: “Now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known” (1 Corinthians 13:12).
*
A Roman centurion hit upon an important truth about the spirit world when he asked Jesus to heal his servant, saying, “Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it” (Matthew 8:8–9). God and Jesus don’t have to do everything or personally carry out every answer to our prayers. They’ve got plenty of help in the form of angels and other spirit beings, including believers who have died and passed over to the spiritual realm, whom the apostle Paul calls “the spirits of just men made perfect” (Hebrews 12:23).
*
The 11th chapter of Hebrews lists the exploits of many of the most outstanding men and women of God who appear in the Old Testament. Immediately following this list of heroes and heroines of faith, we are told in the first verse of the next chapter, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us” (Hebrews 12:1). The heroes of faith of Hebrews 11 are among those many witnesses. Think how wonderful it is that there are millions up there, all watching and praying for us, and lots of them coming down to help!
*
Some helpers from the spirit world are given to people to stay with them and watch over them through their entire lives. These are commonly referred to as guardian angels (Psalm 34:7; 91:11–12). Others are sent on special assignments when there is an especially great need or in answer to prayer, such as the angel who came to Daniel’s aid when he was thrown into the den of lions, or the figure who mysteriously appeared with Daniel’s friends in the fiery furnace, who King Nebuchadnezzar said looked like “the Son of God” (Daniel 6:20–22; 3:22–28).
*
Because in our life here we are confined within the parameters of the four dimensions—length, breadth, depth, and time—there are many things about Heaven and the spirit world that are impossible for us to completely understand. Yet little bits and pieces that we gather start to fall into place like pieces in a giant intriguing puzzle. The more we learn, the more apparent it becomes that there is infinitely more to discover.

Our World

The Natural April 2012

A human being is part of the whole, called by us “Universe,” a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest—a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty.—Albert Einstein

We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.—Native American Proverb

There is a sufficiency in the world for man’s need but not for man’s greed.—Mahatma Gandhi

When we heal the earth, we heal ourselves.—David Orr

We abuse land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong we may begin to use it with love and respect.—Aldo Leopold

Waste is a tax on the whole people.—Albert W. Atwood

The ultimate test of man’s conscience may be his willingness to sacrifice something today for future generations whose words of thanks will not be heard.—Gaylord Nelson

When we are at peace with God we are better able to devote ourselves to building up that peace with all creation which is inseparable from peace among all peoples.—Pope John Paul II

There is hope if people will begin to awaken that spiritual part of themselves, that heartfelt knowledge that we are caretakers of this planet.—Brooke Medicine Eagle

The activist is not the man who says the river is dirty. The activist is the man who cleans up the river.—Ross Perot

Environmental sustainability is not an option—it is a necessity. For economies to flourish, for global poverty to be banished, for the well-being of the world’s people to be enhanced—not just in this generation but in succeeding generations—we have a compelling and ever more urgent duty of stewardship to take care of the natural environment and resources on which our economic activity and social fabric depends.—Gordon Brown

By accepting responsibility, we take effective steps toward our goal: an inclusive human society on a habitable planet, a society that works for all humans and for all nonhumans. By accepting responsibility, we move closer to creating a world that works for all.—Sharif M. Abdullah

"ENTER INTO HIS GATES WITH THANKSGIVING AND INTO HIS COURTS WITH PRAISE" (PSA.100:4).

A prayer should be first of all thanksgiving. Start your prayer with thanksgiving, thanking Jesus for all your blessings!

The Lord honors your coming into His presence with praise and thanksgiving. So don't start by telling Him all your wants and needs first without even thanking Him! If you don't thank Him for the blessings He's already given you, He's not going to feel much like answering your prayers to give you something else you want. Thank Him first! Sing and praise the Lord and thank Him for how good He is!

You can do it this way: Praise, precepts (reading the Word inspires your faith), prayer, the products (testimonies of the results of praise, the Word and prayer)--and what should come at the end?--Praise again! Then comes more production!--Putting it into action!

Lord, You talk so much about giving thanks and praising Thee and being thankful and grateful. Help us, Lord, not to forget to be thankful! Help us to thank You continually, all day long! You're thankful for our praises, Lord! Thy Spirit dwells in the praises of Thy people! (Psa.22:3). So help us to constantly be thankful and grateful! In Jesus' name!--Amen!

Deliverance for God's People

"Do not call to mind the former things, Or ponder things of the past. "Behold, I will do something new, Now it will spring forth; Will you not be aware of it? I will even make a roadway in the wilderness, Rivers in the desert.…
Isaiah 43:18, 19

I understand the trying of men’s hearts, the depths of despair, of discouragement, and of desperation. I understand the depth of forsaking, for first I had to forsake My Father to go to earth, and then I had to forsake those that I loved so dearly on earth to return to My Father.

I understand the depth of pain and affliction, for I screamed out in pain as the nails pierced My hands and My feet. I understand the feeling of being forsaken by those that loved Me, even My own Father, and thus I cried out, “My God! My God! Why have You forsaken Me?”2

I understand the depth of fear—fear of facing that which is ahead for the pain and the sorrow that it shall bring. And so I said, “Father, let this cup pass from Me.”3

I understand the depth of the feeling of loss, for those who loved Me most forsook Me as I was carried away into captivity. I know the depth of hurt to see one that you love betray you, even as Judas betrayed Me with a kiss.

Am I not a high priest that is touched with the feeling of your infirmity?4 My heart breaks to see you in your pain and in your struggle, and in the fire of testing, of trying, of purging—when you feel so hopeless, so lost, so forsaken, when you try to hold on with all your might and yet you feel as if there is nothing to hold on to anymore.

Though My Father did not let this cup pass from Me, and though I saw My loved ones flee from My side in time of trouble and this one that I loved betray Me, and though the nails pierced My hands and pierced My feet, and though I was beaten with many stripes, and though I felt as if My Father had forsaken Me, and though I had to pass through death—yet it all brought about such great victory, renewal, and salvation!

For though it looked like a defeat for Me to be whipped and to be scourged, to be crowned with thorns, to be nailed to the cross, and even as I cried out, “My God! My God! Why hast Thou forsaken Me?” My Father kept Me and brought Me forth in a great resurrection that changed the course of history and that changed all eternity.

Though all looks dark and you cannot see, know that I have My arms around you. I ask you to trust Me in the depths, trust Me in the despair, trust Me in your heartache, trust Me in your forsaking. For I do all things well, and I work in your life in love. If you are willing to drink of this cup, if you are willing to say, “Not my will, but Thine be done,” you will also experience My presence in ways that will far surpass anything you have known!

Before the foundation of the world]

You are My beloved child. I chose you before the foundation of the world, to walk with Me along paths designed uniquely for you. Concentrate on staying in step with Me instead of trying to anticipate My plans for you. If you trust that My plans are to prosper you and not to harm you, you can relax and enjoy the present moment.

Your hope and your future are rooted in heaven, where eternal ecstasy awaits you. Nothing can rob you of your inheritance of unimaginable riches and well-being. Sometimes I grant you glimpses of your glorious future, to encourage you and spur you on. But your main focus should be staying close to Me. I set the pace in keeping with your needs and My purposes.6

Hidden Treasures Pt. 1

Words from Jesus MARCH 20, 2014

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.

We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered ... We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope. 2 Corinthians 1:3–5, 8–10 1

Behold the hidden treasures of darkness buried deep down in My mine. As the miner goes into the depths of the earth and sacrifices his desire for sunshine and light and warmth, and chooses instead to labor in the darkness of the mine and tolerate the dust and dirt and grime, the cramped spaces and tight quarters, the aching back and sore muscles, in order to labor and dig for the precious jewels hidden beneath the earth in the mines—so are you. You are now in a hard place, seeking the sunshine, longing for a breath of fresh air, feeling cramped, stifled, and choking from the stale air, longing for a helping hand.

Do not be dismayed or discouraged, for out of this seeming dark place you will find the treasures that are more priceless and valuable than any other! These days will not be for long. They will not be forever. They are only for a time. So do not be weary in well doing. Do not be weary of the place that you are now in, for in this place you are learning to lean on Me. You are learning to stay within My arms, close to Me, where you will find the strength you need to carry on.

Do not be discouraged or dismayed, and do not feel that you are a failure. Do not think that I do not love you. I love you and I care deeply for you. My eye is on you every moment of the day. I hear your every call and prayer, and I see your every tear. I am always here to strengthen and help you.

So do not worry. You are not outside the circle of My love, but you are right in the center of My love. I will never leave you, nor fail you, nor forsake you. I will bring you to My desired end.

Forget the past

My precious one, let go of the strain and the weights from the past. Forgive yourself for your past mistakes and receive the forgiveness of others. Don’t worry about how things might have been different or could have been better had you done this or had you done that. Such confusion, such indecision, such guilt and remorse about the past are unnecessary weights and burdens that you carry.

Forget the past and find peace and faith, knowing that I have had My perfect plan in your life. I am the great Shepherd and you have nothing to fear. I have used all the experiences of your life to make you into the person that you now are.

You have experienced sorrow and joy, darkness and light, pain and happiness, loss and gain, defeat and victory, and these have taught you sympathy, compassion, and understanding, that you might understand others, that you might be able to put yourself in their place and be able to say, “I understand what you’re feeling. I know what it’s like. I’ve been there myself. I know how hard it can be.”

You can teach others to find faith and hope and courage because you have experienced Me helping you through the dark times. You know that there is light at the end of the tunnel because you have seen it and you have passed through that tunnel. You know that it’s worth it to keep fighting and not give up, because you have done it.

You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands. Isaiah 55:12 NIV

I can save you so much time when you receive My guidance daily. I can whisper instruction in your ear as you move along, so that you do a good and proper job. I can lead you so you don’t botch things up and have to go back and do it over or undo a mess. I can lead you of My Spirit so you do your work with excellence and not haphazardly. *

God has filled life full of puzzles, problems, mysteries, and suspense to challenge our intellect, our faith, and our trust in Him as we set out to try to find the answers.

In trying to show us His will, God sometimes sets a mystifying puzzle before us. He sometimes speaks in riddles and mysteries that are hard to understand in order to get us to think and pray, but He almost always gives us a starting clue. Then He leads us on step by step. We never know what’s going to happen until we take the next step.

He likes us to seek His answers, because this causes us to exercise our faith in Him and His Word and His divine guidance and magnanimity, His parental love. It shows we trust in Him when we obey Him, even if we don’t know what’s at the end of the road. We may not see the answer, we may not know the solution or the place He’s leading to or what we’re going to find, but we’re trusting God to fulfill His promises, like Abraham did when he obeyed God and went out, not even knowing where he was going.4—David Brandt Berg

*

In many ways life is like a long road trip, and to successfully navigate through our years we each need trustworthy guidance. Let me put it this way: life is full of decisions that make our days feel like one “fork in the road” after another, and we need help in knowing which way we should go. For example: when we’re younger, we want to know where to go to college and what to major in when we get there. We want to know what career is in line with the good work God has prepared in advance for us to do. Later we want guidance as to who to marry as well as direction when it comes to raising children. We want wisdom to help us know how to deal with life’s trials and tribulations. The fact is, we all need guidance in life—all the time. Plus, in this fallen world where morals are blurred, we need help in order to determine what is right and what is wrong. I mean, with so many broad paths, it’s hard to find the straight and narrow one.

It has been said that the decisions we make, make us, and to a large extent that is true. A life well-lived is a life full of good decisions. A tragic life is often littered with ill-considered judgments…

All this goes to show that we need a “GPS” in life that we can count on to be absolutely reliable—and the wonderful news is that God is more than qualified to fill this role. As Isaiah proclaimed, “The Lord of hosts … is wonderful in counsel and excellent in guidance.”5

In fact, the Bible says that even though He keeps track of the moon and the stars, not a single bird falls to the ground without God knowing exactly what is going on. His knowledge even covers the trivial, such as the latest count of the hairs on your head. Hebrews 4:13 puts it this way, “All things are naked and open to the eyes of God.” This means that God’s knowledge includes everything there is to know about you and the trials and decisions you are facing in life. Isn’t that comforting?—Mark Adams

God’s GPS Pt. 1

Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. Jeremiah 33:3 KJV

A compilation Mar 17, 2015

Without a doubt the latest technological developments help us understand a bit more about God and how He manages His affairs from the heavenly spheres. An illustration of prayer is the cell phone, used to immediately communicate with someone on the other side of the world. The computer is capable of storing every bit of information needed by a company, right down to its smallest details. This helps us understand how God knows us so well that the Bible says that even our very hairs are numbered.1

One of the miracles in the Bible that has always caught my attention is the one in Matthew 17:27, where Jesus tells Peter to catch a fish and take out of its mouth a coin needed to pay a Roman tax. How did Jesus know exactly which would be the right fish to have the coin?

Another similar miracle occurs when He tells His disciples to go to a neighboring town to find the donkey that He would ride on the triumphal entry into Jerusalem.2 I wonder, did Jesus have a super-sophisticated and precise GPS to know where and when they would find the donkey?

I have often seen God’s GPS at work in my life. How many times has He guided me to find something that I lost, or to meet a certain person, or to find a needed place? And many times it is not only the right place, but also the precise moment.

Recently I received a real surprise. My wife and I had prayed to find a specialized mechanic who could do some repairs on the motor of our camper that we use on our missionary trips. Not having found anyone yet, we began our trip confident that everything would work out all right.

After a few days of traveling through the little coastal towns, I unexpectedly felt an impulse to drive down a certain street without really understanding why. There was no sign that had caught our attention, so we followed the street to the end, when suddenly a man came out to meet us and said, “You came here because of the GPS, right? The GPS brought you here.” Totally taken aback, we asked him what he meant.

He went on to explain that he has a mechanic who specializes in motor homes. Recently a man who is traveling the world had some work done there and had been so satisfied that he dedicated an entire page of his blog to them. On his website he put the GPS point so that anyone traveling in a motor home would be able to find them.

The funny thing is that our camper does not have GPS. We had been led to the exact location with God’s GPS, and at the perfect moment, as our motor really could not have gone further without the needed repairs.

A few days later, with our newly repaired motor, we were off again, but not without praying first—asking the Lord for His blessing and divine guidance. “Your ears will hear a word behind you, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right or to the left.”3—Carlos Campos

TAKE HIM AT HIS WORD!

We're supposed to believe the Word, simply because God said so! The Lord wants us to have faith in the Word and not always have to have a sign. The Word is all the sign we need, He said: "No sign shall be given them" (Mk.8:12).

Why does God insist we have to believe in something we cannot see and cannot feel, purely by faith in His Word, trusting Him just like a little child has to trust a parent? It's because the Lord loves faith! He loves us because we believe Him, just because He said so! It's a way of showing our love and our confidence in Him. Faith really shows that we have love.

Trust Him! Take Him at His Word!

Bucketfuls of Roses

Embedded image from another site

Written by Paloma Sridhar February 2014

Things are going from bad to worse, Lord, and I think I know why, I thought as I pulled my sunglasses over my eyes and stuffed my hands as far as possible into my pockets.

I must have done something really wrong, because I don’t think You love me anymore!

Yes, I do, a voice sounded in my heart.

No, I don’t think so.

But I do.

Prove it!

All right. What would you like?

The road I was driving on was dry, noisy, and dusty. What was I unlikely to find?

If You show me a red rose, then I will know that You still love me.

Just one? I thought I heard Him laugh. For you, I would give a bucketful of roses!

As I thought about it later, I realized how foolish my request had been. God doesn’t have to prove His love; it’s there whether we realize it or not.

That afternoon, I met a friend at her office. While we chatted over coffee, my mind was elsewhere. I had told God that He need not hold me to my word, because I knew that He loved me and would always care for me; but deep down, I still really wanted to see that “proof.” When our conversation came to an end, I got up to leave, and then I saw it: a small clay vase on the corner of the desk held an odd little arrangement of a handful of ferns … and one red rose!

My heart rejoiced. Thank You, Jesus!

Don’t thank Me just yet! I seemed to hear Him say. I had something to show you at the corner of the road as you entered your friend’s office—only, you were too busy to see it. Take a look around.

I stepped out of the building and the first thing that caught my eye was not one, but four buckets full of red roses smiling at me! And besides that, there were shelves of single red roses behind. It was a florist’s shop.

On any other day, this sequence of events might have just been a coincidence; but on this occasion, the unexpected appearance of all those roses—coming on the heels of my earlier conversation with God—helped reassure me that He cares about me personally and His love will never fail. He made me and you, and He is also going to make something wonderful out of our lives.

GOD WILL GIVE YOU THE SPIRITUAL SOLUTIONS WHILE YOU'RE ALONE WITH HIM, THAT WILL JUST MAKE THE MOUNTAINS OF YOUR PROBLEMS MELT AWAY!

You will get a lot more done for the Lord if you will simply spend more time in prayer, alone with God. Unless you get quiet & try to seek the Lord, how are you ever going to get anything FROM the Lord? You will get more from the Lord alone & quiet than any other way.--Because He can talk to you alone, & you can give Him your full attention & the reverence due Him! Even JESUS had to get up at the break of day before His disciples, & walk out across the hills or up in the mountain to get alone with God & hear from His Father.

You're going to have to get quiet by yourself--somewhere, somehow, sometime--if you're going to hear from the Lord! You've got to know YOU can't solve your problems in your own strength, & be desperate for God's solutions, & stop everything else, & LISTEN!--So help us, Jesus, to remember that we can't go on without the Heavenly vision that You give. We all need more quiet time alone with Thee, to rest & nestle in Thy arms & be refreshed & restrengthened by Thy Spirit, to just have Thee alone to think about & pray about, & to get close to Thee without any other distractions. Thank You Jesus!

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with his hand. Psalm 37:23-24 KJV

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.—Proverbs 22:6

Whenever you hear of someone doing a great thing, you may be sure that behind it somewhere is a great background. It may be a mother’s training, a father’s example, a teacher’s influence, or an intense experience of his own, but it has to be there or else the great achievement does not come, no matter how favorable the opportunity.—Catherine Miles

Fathering helps self-esteem

A study by the British parenting research project Tomorrow’s Men found that fathers who spend a few minutes each day one on one with their sons greatly increase their sons’ chances of growing into confident adults.

Of the boys who said that their fathers spent time with them and took an active interest in their progress, more than 90 percent fell in the “can do” category, whereas 72 percent of the boys who said that their fathers rarely or never spent time with them fell into the group with the lowest levels of self-esteem and were also more likely to have emotional and behavioral problems.

More surprisingly, the study found little difference between the positive effects of good father/son relationships in two-parent homes and homes where the father was absent (as in divorce situations) but nevertheless took time with his son. Similar studies have found that in a father’s absence, another father figure such as a stepfather, uncle, grandfather, teacher, or mentor, by assuming an active role, can have an equally positive effect.

Put high expectations in front of [young people]. Give them love. Give them support. They will succeed.—Said Sewell

The greatest sermon

A farmer had an unusually fine crop of grain, but just a few days before it was ready to harvest, there was a terrible hail and wind storm. The entire crop was demolished. After the storm was over, the farmer and his young son stepped outside. The little boy looked at what was formerly a beautiful field of wheat and, with tears in his eyes, looked up at his dad, expecting to hear words of despair. Instead he heard his father softly sing, “Rock of Ages, cleft for me, let me hide myself in Thee.” Years later the son, now a grown man, said, “That was the greatest sermon I ever heard.”

Mentoring is a brain to pick, an ear to listen, and a push in the right direction.—John Crosby

EVEN WHILE THE WORLD GOES TO PIECES, GOD'S WORD STANDS FIRM!

"How firm a foundation ye saints of the Lord
Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word!
What more can He say than to you He hath said,
To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled!
To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled!

Fear not, I am with thee, Oh be not dismayed,
For I am thy God, I will still give thee aid!
I'll strengthen thee, help thee and cause thee to stand,
Upheld by My gracious omnipotent hand!
Upheld by My gracious omnipotent hand."

That's an old hymn, and a wonderful one for these last days when you're going to need the firm foundation of His Word.

"Behold," He says, "I am with you always, even unto the ends of the Earth!" (Mat.28:20). He's with you in His Word, and His Word is with you, and you can stand firmly on this as a firm foundation that cannot fail, for He's promised to keep you!

Someday the only Word of God you'll have may be what you've implanted in your heart, so hide away His Word faithfully that you may be kept by the power of God and comforted in difficult times, now and in the future!

HEARING FROM JESUS STEP BY STEP

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. John 10:27-28 KJV

Written by Peter Amsterdam Tuesday, 01 February 2011

One of the things Jesus wants to teach us—and it’s one of the most valuable things we can ever learn—is to consult Him in our decision-making. He wants us to hear from Him directly and personally, and then to act on what He shows us. That goes for big matters and everyday matters alike. He wants us to bring specific questions to Him so He can give us specific answers.

Hearing from Jesus and involving Him in our daily lives is something that can radically change things for the better. If we can learn to stop whatever we’re doing, bring our questions to the Lord, and listen to His instructions, that will solve many problems because we will find the answers we need.
**
You need to keep checking back with Him, because sometimes He may want to adjust the course. It’s like you’re the helmsman of a ship, and Jesus is the captain. You head out to sea, and you know the general direction you’re supposed to go. If your destination is due west, you start going west. But then after a while the ship may have been carried off course by currents or a storm, so the captain, Jesus, who knows exactly where you are at all times, may tell you that you need to adjust your course to head a little northwest or a little southwest. But if you don’t check your present course with the captain, if you don’t open the channel for Jesus to speak to you and tell you the course modifications, you either won’t end up where He wants you to go or you will take a roundabout way to get there.

To receive Jesus’ instructions, you have to be open—you have to truly want to hear and be willing to follow what He tells you. The most important requirements for hearing from Jesus are (1) sincerely wanting to find and do what He knows will be best for everyone concerned, (2) asking Jesus to help you distinguish between His voice and your own thoughts, (3) believing the divine instruction that has already been given you, as recorded in the Bible, and following it to the best of your knowledge and ability, (4) believing that the message you receive directly from Him is from Him, and (5) having the faith to act on it.

This isn’t something you can learn overnight, especially if you aren’t already in the habit of taking your problems and questions to Jesus in prayer. It takes practice and discipline, but don’t let that discourage you. Start with a few small steps—baby steps if you will. Then as you learn to hear from Him step by step, you will save time, things will go more quickly and smoothly, you will make fewer mistakes, and more will get done.

Learning from God

We can go through life and miss many of the things that God is trying to teach us. Some things are obvious, but others aren’t, and we can miss the point if we don’t ask Him or don’t open our eyes to what He’s trying to show us through our experiences.

The more we pray about things beforehand, the more He is able to help us and the better things will turn out. But it’s just as important to pray about the outcome, especially when things don’t go the way we expect or want them to. If we take time to think and pray about it, He can help us learn from every experience. The lesson is there if we will ask for it, but by the same token, if we don’t ask, a lot of times we don’t receive.1—Maria Fontaine

Has Russia Changed the Future of Warfare and Rendered High-Tech US Weapons Systems Inoperable?

MARCH 13, 2015 POSTED BY JOSEPH CANDEL

Via allnewspipeline

Via a tip from an ANP trusted source, we see a few pieces of a puzzle that when added to the big picture offers us insight to what could be one of the biggest game changers in history, putting the Russian military in a position of total dominance over the US military in any upcoming war, which as was explained in an earlier article, is rapidly approaching.

Back in early November 2014, the Internet was abuzz with talk of a story titled “What frightened the USS Donald Cook so much in the Black Sea?,” where it was claimed that an incident in April 2014 “demoralized” the crew of the USS Donald Cook, when a Russian Sukhoi-24 (SU-24) fighter jet buzzed the USS Donald Cook, not carrying bombs or missiles, but rendering them completely inoperable with the use of an “electronic warfare device.”

As the Russian jet approached the US vessel, the electronic device disabled all radars, control circuits, systems, information transmission, etc. on board the US destroyer. In other words, the all-powerful Aegis system, now hooked up – or about to be – with the defense systems installed on NATO’s most modern ships was shut down, as turning off the TV set with the remote control.

The Russian Su-24 then simulated a missile attack against the USS Donald Cook, which was left literally deaf and blind. As if carrying out a training exercise, the Russian aircraft – unarmed – repeated the same maneuver 12 times before flying away.

Without any reports at all from any MSM source or confirmation from Russia, people waved this away as rumor, speculation or an outright hoax, but in March 2015, Russian News agency Sputnik, which is owned and operated by the Russian government, announced that Russia had unveiled a new “revolutionary electronic warfare system.”

Russia’s new Richag-AV radar and sonar jamming system can be mounted on helicopters, ships and other military equipment to jam potential adversaries’ weapons systems from distances of several hundred kilometers away; it has been hailed by developers as having no analogue anywhere in the world.

Sounds a lot like the type of advanced technology that was described in the November report about Russia’s ability to completely render one of America’s most advanced missile destroyers completely inoperable, doesn’t it?

Russia is also reportedly advancing their naval capabilities, including the addition of 50 new vessels in 2015 alone:

The Navy is continually developing their ocean strategy, aimed at protecting government interests and its economic activity in deferent regions of the world.

“The Navy is able to meet the requirements, with surface ships and nuclear-powered submarines, to accomplish a range of tasks for the purpose from different remote basing points,” said Chirkov.

In March 2015, Sputnik also specifically highlighted a “catastrophic event” when a US military satellite, after suffering a “sudden spike in temperature,” exploded, sending dozens of chunks of debris hurtling into Earth’s orbit.

Was this a shot across the bow from Russia, showing exactly what they could do, not only to our warships, planes and submarines, but to our satellite systems as well?

Our source tells us this is “actually the biggest story in the world,” because if Russia is capable of disabling the USS Donald Cook and the entire US Navy with their “revolutionary electronic warfaresystems,” then Russia has already won any type of traditional war.

This would leave the US one option, the nuclear option and as was explained in the previous article, Russia is already preparing for that as well.
