Demographics

The demographics in the world are changing by the hour...people are shifting from not just one land to another, but from entire continents, I live in a small village and a local larger town has been invaded as it were by what seems to be a large part of africa..im a non national myself and we have a few nationalities locally including as said myself, we all get along well here, however I was in a supermarket and about 7 of the africans were all conversing in what must have been their own language, very loudly ignoring all others a frail older lady in the queue in front of me looked quite alarmed and said to me "im 72 and I feel like a stranger in my own country!" I hesitated to reply because my accent would have told her she has told a foreigner of her fears... I smiled and said well Mom I myself come from overseas so im hardly qualified to comment really" she looked at me a for a second then laughed and said really? I wouldnt have known!
The africans now in the queue suddenly began speaking in the local language to each-other, clearly they had understood the distress caused, albeit probably inadvertently, the atmosphere changed to calm again and the shoppers went about their task undisturbed again,... funny isnt it how communication at work can solve even the most simple of "problems"

have a great day folks, wherever you are in this world...we only have ONE world, lets enjoy it together :)

Very nice story.thumbs up I find it a bit without good manners to speak loud on different language when in such public place but rather to do it discritly without bringing so much attention and distractions to other people in queue. However, some people can be careless in behaviour out of ignorance in luck of education or knowlage and they need a bit of guidance to learn and with simple good intention communication exchange things can be turned into pleasent learning experiences from all sides...Not everyone can recognise that I am not born Ozzy winkuntil my accent gives away 'secret' wink laugh and if all of us try to live in another country at least for 3 months learning different language and culture we would all be more tolerant towards differences between people teddybear
