Veritaas: You also have to remember the world is in a recession and there are many who will just look after themselves, it is human nature, call it survival.

In lavish times this can be different.

True it is. I work in a hospital so I make my contribution thur them. Am sure in the community there is a few.

Metalheart: Scooby Do, you forget about your nuclear attack on japan and killing more than prople in any war, and you also forget, its only Pakistan who will gight your war of terrorism and lost more soldiers than any other country.. Shame on you for your comments.

Now listen sunbeam...Ooby said he was playing the DEVILS ADVOCATE and unless you know what he means, and by your tardy comment you don't, one shouldn't tell him shame on you for comments.

For your education:

In common parlance, a devil's advocate is someone who takes a position he or she does not necessarily agree with for the sake of argument.

The shame is on YOU for not understanding his post.

Like him, you have no idea.

Only yesterday you said that pilgrims had gone to pray for rain a couple of days ago, when the rain had already started in July! Only yesterday you said that the peoples are now happy and you have enough water to last for 15 years.

I would suggest that a lot of people are NOT happy right now.

You also said this in response to the amount of aid that was being pledged by the UN.

ali110: No Body can stop me to laugh and role on the chair

Hun ,dont u know about politicians ,politians make the reasons to get the international aid/money to have in thier bank accounts and in ministers pocket ,It is enough answer for you sweet englishholland

You initmated that the money is being asked for by your politicians so they can put it into their bank accounts.

Steve5721: Some people should NOT open their mouths without thinking or even checking into things.Donations made by the British public to help victims of the worst floods in Pakistan's history have reached £6 million, UK charities said today.
The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) said around 545,000 survivors have been provided with emergency care, clean water, food or shelter as a result of British aid.

For Pakistan, the international community gave or pledged $150 million after the flooding began in earnest in late July, according to the UN Office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs, known as OCHA.

The United States has donated the most -- at least $7 million -- and has sent military helicopters to rescue stranded people and drop off food and water.Aid pledged and funded to Pakistan
As of 12 August 2010.
SOURCE: UN OCHA

United Kingdom $32,550,860
United States $22,525,715
Australia $9,033,423
Kuwait $5,000,000

There are many other countries that have also donated.

THEN, we see this sort of wonderful excerpt from the Telegraph:

The Taliban has told victims of Pakistan's floods to boycott aid from "foreign infidels" as the UN called for $460 million in emergency aid to prevent a rise in the death toll.

"We condemn American and other foreign aid and believe that it will lead to subjugation," saidPakistan Taliban Azam Tariq. "Our jihad against America will continue."

With the rhetoric came the offer of $20 million (£12.7 million) in Taliban aid, a doubtful promise and, in any case, a drop in the ocean.

yep... thats what I heard on the news

Do you know how much Pakistan donated to the Haiti Disaster?

NOTHING according to OCHA. The USA donated $466,000,000 out of the $2 billion raised.

It is always sad when people who are struggling to begin with get clobbered by mother nature. It seems the ones with the least get hit the hardest with earthquakes, floods and tsunami's and the "haves" get a paid holiday.

Veritaas: Perhaps people are weary of donating more money because it might just end up in the wrong hands.

I think it is a reason for many people who would love to help the flood victims, but can't stand a thought of helping to bring a destruction into the world instead.

Well, what shouldn't be forgotten is we are talking and thinking about people suffering, no politics involved here, just as human beings we should help as much as we can. And the truth is this country has suffered a lot this year. Too many people have lost everything. And these people have nothing to do with 'Politics'.
A great country with a great potential. How come some people here are so insensitive. I can feel it is all about the terrorism issue.

Maybe one can say: 'Ok, but all the terrorists are Muslims'

The reply could be: 'Yes, but not all the Muslims are terrorists'

And just to add, don't make common people pay for the politicians' decisions. We are all equal here...

Total crap, and what has this to do with the thought of help for the folk who are in dire need.....The attitude of the person above actually stops folk giving money and aid .....The reason easy why help someone who has an attitude of decrying the folk who supply the MAIN aid to this country....I have no qualms about helping folk in trouble, but I would be hard pushed to put my hand in my pocket to help anyone with this attitude.....JMO

You are right about it, Justinloska.

It's a devastating tragedy, I hope victims get as much help as possible.

And who, if not us by giving such harmful opinion?

As we should know, these poor people have nothing to do with the politics or the officials' action. My way of thinking is that one should help as much as they can. What I want to say is that people who usually have to pay the price in such situations are not to be blamed for having been born in a place they had. And what I can see here is people lacking the very basic insticts, which is very sad.Politicians, their agreements and good relations with others like them is one thing, but when we see someone in need, shouldn't we think of helping them?

So easy to observe such things from behind the computer screen...

My thought would be,If I could help would they be My friend, If I denied them help would they continue to be My friend, Or would they be My friend only if I helped them, would they in turn return the favor if I needed the help, Would they give Me a handshake of friendship if I helped, Would they spit in My eyes if I said no, Would they consider the fact that we are all plain ordinary people on a website and have no control over what our governments do or say, do they realize sometimes when aid is given there is more sold on the black market then distributed among the people in need. the needy still go hungry where so much has been delivered.
blame those that keep the donations from reaching the ones who are in need, never blame or argue with the ordinary people who do the donating, have a problem with the system contact the ones in charge not the ordinary people who do call you friend,My question to the people whining and arguing, what have you donated besides whining and arguing? contact the countries government instead of insulting the people of the country who are doing the helping.
