Q:Why is it bad to give out my email address when someone asks for it right away?
Answer
If a member asks you for your email address right away, it is suspicious. They may be building email lists, or they may be scammers who want to get you off of this site before we find and delete them.
Q:Why is the Like button missing from some profiles?
Answer
You can only Like someone that is in your own area, and is the gender you are seeking.
If the " Like" button does not show up on a profile, this means the person is the wrong gender or is too far away. Send them a message instead.

Q:Why did my photo get deleted (or get moved from being primary)?
Answer
Photos are an option, not a requirement. If you wish to have a photo with your profile, upload photos according to the rules. Photos that break the rules or are not appropriate for this site are deleted.
Remember, a picture is worth a thousand words. Your photo represents you to members who don't know you and, like it or not, you will be judged by what you choose to display. So think about what your photos 'say' about you.
PHOTO RULES:
Your PRIMARY photo must be of YOU and show YOUR face clearly.
Photos of celebrities, cartoons, bare torsos will be deleted.
Nudity, vulgar, offensive, inappropiate photos will get your account deleted. Don't make us do it!
Do NOT include CHILDREN for SAFETY reasons.
Must reflect your true appearance.
Must match your stated gender.
No celebrities, models, copyrighted or altered images, cartoons, or drawings.
No special effects or frames.
No nudity, obscenity, sexual or offensive photos, display of weapons, or illegal activity.
No photos in which you are, or appear to be under age 18 years.
Tiny photos do not post well and will be deleted.
Dark, blurry or poor quality photos will not be posted.
Must be in .jpg format, no larger than 5 MB (megabytes).
We also accept these formats, but .jpg works best:
(.jpg, .gif, .png, .bmp, .webp, .jfif, .jpeg, .jpe, .jif, .jfi, .jxr, .tif, .tiff)
**A nude or obscene photo will get you permanently banned from this site.

Q:I am not getting responses to the mail I sent. My mail is not being opened. What is wrong?
Answer
First, Please check your Block Settings to see if you have restricted them too much. We've been seeing that many people are blocking all ages except for a very small few (like 34-35 for example). That can really restrict who can write to you.
We notify members when they receive onsite mail. If they have provided a valid email address, they will receive those notices; if not, they won't get the notices and it may be longer until they return to the site and see what you have sent. It is their choice to login and check their mail, and it is their choice whether or not to open or respond. We have no control over any of this.
If you are not willing to wait for a response, send mail only to members whose last activity date is recent.
If a member does not open or respond to your mail, they may not have time to answer, they may be receiving too much mail already, they may be corresponding with someone special already, or they may just not be interested in your profile. Find someone else to write to...
It takes a lot of time and patience to find someone special. Don't give up. There is someone out there for you. That person may join tomorrow.
In the meantime, give members a reason to write to you. Help others get to know you. Add positive, upbeat info to your narratives about yourself, describe more about what you are seeking in your match, add some new photos, fill out the extended profile. Also, check out the Forums area of the site. Many members have a lot of fun meeting and talking there while waiting to meet ‘the one’. Add a blog about your thoughts or experiences to let others know more about you and possibly attract someone who feels the same (note that a blog is a journal - not a personal ad).
Use site features to bring more attention to your profile and mail to your inbox.

If you repeatedly get bounced back to the login screen, with no message about an incorrect username or password, this is probably caused by your browser not retaining your login information correctly. Q:My password appears in the login box whenever I visit Connecting Singles. How do I stop this?
Answer
First of all, this is your Browser, NOT Connecting Singles, that is saving your password for you and putting it into the login box on Connecting Singles. Connecting Singles has no control over this.
Fortunately you can fix this. See directions below:
If your password automatically appears in the login box, it means Password Manager is enabled on your computer. You enabled it the first time you came to Connecting Singles (or any other site), when your browser gave you a pop-up message asking if you wanted to save your login info for this site. If you clicked yes, your username and password would automatically be entered into the login box every time you came to this site using that computer, and anyone after you could sign in as you also. This is a Browser setting and has nothing to do with this website.
You can disable that auto-login feature (see below for Firefox instructions). To protect your privacy, you should NOT use Password Manager if you share a computer with anyone else, or use a computer in a library or other public place.
Firefox: Directions for disabling auto login
Password Manager is on by default. To turn it off:
Open the Edit menu and choose Preferences.
From the Privacy & Security category, choose Web Passwords. (If no subcategories are visible, double-click the category to expand the list.)
In the Password Manager section, deselect "Remember passwords for sites that require me to log in" to turn Password Manager off.
Managing Stored Passwords To see a list of the user names and passwords you have stored:
Open the Tasks menu, choose Privacy & Security, and then choose Password Manager.
Select View Stored Passwords from the submenu. You see the Password Manager window.
Click the Passwords Saved tab. You see a list of all the stored user names. (Passwords are not listed.)
To remove a user name, click it and then click Remove. The next time you visit the web site, you will be asked to enter your password.
Click the Passwords Never Saved tab to see a list of the web sites for which you instructed Password Manager never to store user names. To remove a web site from this list, click it and then click Remove. The next time you visit the web site, you will be asked if you want Password Manager to save the user name and password for this site. Click "No".

Q:They say they can't upload a photo... how likely that is true?
Answer
The photo excuse... If they want your email address to send you a photo with the excuse that they “can’t get a photo on the site”, or they “don’t know how to add a photo”, this may be a ploy to get your private email address. If they can email a photo to you… they can email (or mail) that photo to this site to be added for them.
Refer them to their Upload Photos page for details. Sharing your private email address may put you on mailing lists and subject you to loads of spam.
ConnectingSingles does not share your email address and NEVER sends spam.
