Q:How can I remove something I posted to the forums?
Answer
Consider what you post to be permanent. We don't allow posts to be deleted or changed because it may change the meaning of what others have said and disrupt the flow of the discussion.
Your forum entries help members learn about you. Your answers and attitudes there tell a lot about you. Consider this before you enter posts, as they cannot be removed.

Q:How do I post in the Forums?
Answer
TO CREATE NEW THREAD: Click on
Forums in the top nav, then click the
Create Thread button. Type a message about your topic and your opinion of it and explain what/how you would like to discuss it. Then press the "Submit Thread" button. Your thread will appear in the category you assign and also on the list of
All Threads, and members will be able to view and post to it.
TO REPLY TO A THREAD: If you read a thread and want to get into the discussion: Click on the 'Post Reply' button at the upper right of the page. Your post will appear at the bottom of that thread in the order it was submitted. (or you can use the REPLY button inside each post)
TO QUOTE ANOTHER POST: If you want to address your reply directly to one member's post in a thread: click on the "Quote" button inside their post. If you do this, their post will be copied and be included in your post answer - so USE THIS OPTION ONLY when you want to take exception to what that one person said and direct your answer to them. (If you are the first person to reply in a thread, there is no reason to quote the one above you.)
Be sure to read the
Forum Rules before posting.

Q:Why can't I send more than one eCard to a person in a day?
Answer
You can send 1 eCard within a 24 hour period to EACH member. So that a member cannot receive more than 1 eCard from you in a 24-hour period.
The reason for this limit is that many members don't want their eCardbox flooded... even by someone they are interested in. Quality wins over quantity there.
eCards are for 'special' connections and occasions. Use mail for general correspondence.

Q:What is a blog on Connecting Singles?
Answer
A Blog is a journal you may enter about your life, your thoughts, interesting experiences, or lessons you have learned. It's your own page on Connecting Singles that you can update on a regular basis, or just whenever you have something to say. You can write about an opinion, impart words of wisdom, or talk about something interesting in your day. Creating a blog is a good way to share something of yourself with Connecting Singles members. Reading blogs is a good way to learn more about members you have met here.
A blog IS NOT a personal-ad describing yourself or the person you are seeking. You have a profile on the site for that.
A blog is NOT for one-to-one chatting. You have onsite email for that. Click the "Email" button on a member's profile.
A blog IS NOT a Forum for discussion, debate, advice or asking questions of other members. Join the
Connecting Singles Forums for these purposes.
Use your blog to record your thoughts, opinions and ideas. All blogs are open to viewing by the public and to comments from other members (unless you disabled comments). You may read and then delete those comments to your blog if you wish. You may edit your own blog, however, you may not edit your comment to another member's blog.

Answer
There are several reasons why a member might disappear from the site:
- The member has been removed from the site by staff (as a result of complaints received about the member, or the member using the site for purposes other than dating: mass mailing, soliciting, requesting money from members, etc.)
- The member has hidden their profile
- The member has cancelled their profile
- If you are trying to find them via a username search, you may have misspelled their username.

Q:My mail disappeared with a member I was talking to
Answer
Mail may disappear for various reasons:
- Old mail (over 30 days old) is removed from time to time to save on site resources.
- The sender may cancel and leave the site.
- The sender may have been removed from the site by staff. (as a result of complaints received about the member, or the member using the site for purposes other than dating: mass mailing, soliciting, requesting money from other members, etc. When a member gets banned, their mail automatically disappears.)
- A member's profile and mail may be deleted because they registered an email address that isn't valid and mail notices to them bounce back.

Q:What is the difference between an article and a blog?
Answer
Article: An article is a nonfictional composition on a specific topic (stated in the title) about something you have experience or expertise in, or that you have researched.
It's presented in an unbiased manner and strives to prove or accomplish its theme. If an opinion is given, it should be based on knowledge. An article has a lesson or point to make and a conclusion. It's goal is to inform and/or entertain. An article is more formal than a blog, and is normally a minimum of 250 words in length. Feedback comments are accepted.
Blog: A blog entry can be whatever you want it to be... it's a personal journal of rants and raves, your opinions or ideas on any topic, or it could be just a note about your day. A blog post is an opinion, therefore biased, can be of any length, and research is not required. it's less formal than an article. Comments are accepted.
Forum Post: If you want to have a group discussion with many members on any topic of general interest, post it in the CS Forum.

Q:Can members be banned from this site?
Answer
This site has rules to protect members and their experience here. Knowing, accepting and following the rules is required for membership. It is not site staff's responsibility to warn you when you break them.
- Members who break the rules or whose behavior on the site, blogs, or forums is unacceptable may be removed without warning.
- Members who attempt to use the site for reasons other than dating (such as soliciting of ANY kind, money or romance scam, building mailing lists, identity theft, multiple or fake profiles, or any suspicious activity) will be removed without notice.
- Members under legal age will be removed.
- If the profile of someone you have been communicating with suddenly disappears, they have likely been removed for safety and quality of the site and members. No warning or notice will be sent.
Although it's common to hear a banned member complain about the rules, or that members who reported them got them banned...this is NOT true! When banning is necessary, it was the member's own bad behavior that got them banned. Members are adults and held accountable for their own actions here.

Q:I received a notice that I have mail on the site, but it is not there.
Answer
We remove mass mailers, solicitors, spammers and scammers and when we do, their mail is automatically deleted also. This is for your protection. If you receive a notice but see no mail, it means the profile was removed after your notice went out.

Q:How can I know if a member is who they say?
Answer
We do everything we can at Connecting Singles to provide a quality and safe environment for singles to meet. However, we do not do background checks, and we have no way of knowing if the information a member enters in their profile is actually true, or if their photo is really of them.
It is up to each member to use good sense and extreme caution when corresponding over the internet with people they do not know. Don't be pressured to give personal information about yourself or family. Your onsite mailbox is provided to protect your anonymity. Use it. Don't give out your personal email address early on.

Q:What are Tags?
Answer
Tags are keywords to connect members with like interests. When you tag your profile, (Blog, Video, or eCard), it helps members find your profile, (Blog, Video, or eCard) who are interested in that tag.
Members can visit the
Tags page and click on the tags they are interested in, and your profile, eCards, videos, and eCards will be listed with the tags you've added.
- profile tag example: Tagging your profile with "camping", would help members who are interested in "camping" to find you.
- eCard tag example: Tagging your ecard with "flowers", would help members find your eCard who are looking for an eCard with "flowers".
- Video tag example: Tagging your video with "dancing" would help members find your video who are interested in watching videos about "dancing".
- Blog tag example: Tagging your blog with "embarrassing" would help members find your blog who are interested in reading blogs about "embarrassing" stories.
Note: Make sure your tags are relevant. If your eCard has nothing to do with "flowers", then don't tag it with "flowers". If "camping" is not your interest, don't tag your profile with "camping".

Q:So will I ever find 'the ONE' and who can I trust?
Answer
It takes time and patience to find 'the ONE'. In the meantime, try to enjoy your search and have fun finding friends. Don't rush! We recommend you look for someone living close enough to you to meet often and get to know each other slowly. No matter what they tell you, real love doesn't happen in 2 weeks of emailing. Think with your head, not only with your heart. Use the site to get acquainted. Use caution to stay safe.
