Leap to freedom.

Leap to Freedom

At yelping speed she travelled
across an emerald lawn,
pursued by gnarling nightmares
as the darkness nipped the dawn.

Her ears, amber triangles,
bush glittering crystal dew,
body sleek with rivulets,
glowed red with exhaustion's hue.

Her heart palpating bass drums
and panting loud, fit to burst,
'glimpsed a shadow by the gate,
Her escape route surely cursed.

A lolloping great mastiff
of the Herculean type
roused apathetic eyelids
to investigate the hype.

No options left, the vixen
hugged the ground, then made a leap
to clear canine, and gate, and
safely saunter home to sleep.

About this poem:
(The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog)

This piece is about the sentence that typists learn, to gain mastery of the keyboard, and enhance speed. I wanted to try to turn it into a poem without mentioning any of the words in the sentence directly, but to try to convey the meaning in a lighthearted way.

Identity

Standing here in front of you, you’ve already made your assumption,
That this white boy talking is going to spit about some dumb shit.
You observe my posture and follow my words,
Debating with yourself whether I’m a geek or nerd.
You give me five more seconds and then start to sway,
Content with your vision of who I am here standing today.
Yet there’s more to me that has yet to be uncovered,
Like the fact that I have many siblings, I’m one of five brothers.
Add two more sisters and your image starts to switch,
Like a trigger on a pistol, your hand starts to twitch.
Your attention is focused waiting on my next revelation,
Hoping that I will reveal some personal information.
But the truth is I cannot sum myself in this short time,
The best I can do is leave you with your image refined.
I’m a hopeless romantic who believes love is for simpler minds.
Still I search the world hoping for that one lucky find.
I bar hop on weekends, go to my frat parties wearing toga's,
but still manage to find time to meditate and do yoga.
I'm awkward, pessimistic, and sometimes arrogant,
but when my shining moment comes you better believe I can handle it.
I have a small dog with the heart of a lion,
everlasting friends and a map to Zion.
But none of this matters when I think of myself,
My essence can not be recorded and stored on a shelf.
To try and define me would take more than a dictionary,
You can google me but my thoughts aren't binary.
Instead you can meet me, maybe chill and smoke some weed,
Allow me to introduce myself and plant a seed.
I know I got baggage, a dumpster full of debris,
but at least you'll leave my company knowing that you don't know me.

About this poem:
I wrote this poem back in college when some friends and I would visit local coffee shops. It pretty much sums up my life at the time.

Sunshine in the rain

I gave my heart to a woman,
I gave it to her, branch and root
She bruised it, she wrung it, she tortured it she cast it underfoot

Under her feet she trampled it where it fell
Broken into shards , all apart and nothing to add

There is rain in the sunshine once again my heart mends
From your mouth to my ears you whisper whisper.....
Time went by, I mended I looked for the sunshine in the rain
It lays in my breast beating for a sweet whisper from your lips to mine

Great Lakes Meteor 5/23/2012

Violent green drop of Jupiter
Burning neon in the Mothers breath.
Blessing the night of this reveler
The bearing of this Gemini upon the Earth.
Luna waxing near the path
The "Panspermian" mote's essence dazzled
Searing elation into all that espied.
A scar of felicity brands my spirit
With a joyous aching that will burn brighter than Apollo
And 'til I sleep in Gaya's arms.

The Little Boy I Knew

What happened to that little boy I knew?
Someone please tell me where he went to!
For now a father stands in his place
With happiness written all over his face.
Where is he, that little boy I love?
That happy cherub sent from above.
He's grown so tall yet still I see
That little boy who means so much to me.
How have all those years gone by?
Someone please tell me why oh why,
Everything changes, everyone too,
What happened to that little boy I knew?
Where can he be, that gullible little tyke?
With a head of curls and a smile of delight,
He looks no more for sky hooks of blue,
But the curls are still there, and the smile too.
But what did he say last night on the phone?
A child was born, a son of his own!
Is this possible? Oh how can it be?
For he's still my little brother, you see.
The years have gone by, oh, much too fast
I've heard it said anything good can't last
But that can't be right, it must be wrong.
Oh, where have all those years gone?
I smile, as back through the years I go
Remembering the little boy that I loved so,
But now there's another cherub sent from above,
Another little boy to cherish and love.
Happiness is his in the gift of life.
He has a son and he has a wife,
He has a baby to love and hold,
A gift more precious than silver or gold.
But wait a minute! For now I see
That little boy who means so much to me,
He just grew up with the changing times,
Still he'll always be that little brother of mine.
He's still there, my brother who means so much to me
Standing tall and proud for all the world to see.
With a child in his arms, and a wife by his side,
He fills my heart with love and pride!

Cowboy Astrological Signs

Astrology is one of those wonderful pseudo-sciences like naturopathy or cattle futures that anyone with an imagination can rapidly become an expert in. If there is some question which sign you were born under, just ask a friend. I present these to you. cowboy

OKRA- People born under the sign of Okra are slippery, smooth-talking' and slick. Without self-restraint they can slide right over on their face. Okras make good molasses salesmen.

HOLSTEIN CROSSES - These folks start out slow, never look like much but like the sure and steady tortoise, often finish first in the race to everyone's surprise! Feed bosses and second sons fall under this sign.

COYOTE- Never one to hide from responsibility, they run from it! You hear them, you find their tracks, but they're seldom seen. They eat the crusty end off a loaf of bread, the fat off ham and fried shrimp tails. You can find Coyotes migrating every fall from Wyoming ranches to Arizona feedlots.

FLASHING BEER SIGN- People found under this sign are steady, bright and occasionally incoherent. They gather wisdom and glow. Then they display it in a blinking neon blizzard. Often you will find nutritionists, veterinarians and economists in this category.

ARCADE SPACE INVADERS-Space Invaders are born self-assured. This confidence comes from always knowing what color socks they have on and their current bank balance. They have very little patience with Coyotes and Dice. A.S.Invaders make excellent bankers and wives.

DICE- As you may have guessed, these people have a tendency to leap without looking, buy beachfront property in Saskatchewan and flip for the tab. However, as long as they're winning, we seen them as glamorous. Most DICE feed cattle.

MOUNT RUSHMORE-Individuals born under this sign spend much time gathering and accumulating knowledge. They can be very helpful but tend to be idealistic in solving problems. "Rushes" make good county agents, graduate students and columnists.

CATTLE GUARDS-Usually strong, stubborn and level-headed, they get run over regularly by Space Invaders, Dice, Okra, Holstein Crosses, Coyotes, Rushes, and Flashing Beer Signs.Oh, heck, they get run over by everybody! A large number of CATTLE GUARDS wind up ranching.

HERRINGBONE HEMMED

SURELY SHE WAS A TAILOR BORN
ALTERING ME WITH HR ALLURING NATURE
AND SILKEN THREAD COAXED THROUGH THE EYE OF A NEEDLE
EACH STICH RICH IN REWARDS AND GRANDEUR
EVERY INCH SEWN BY A HAND WITH INSTINCTUAL CARE
AND WOVEN WHEN THE WOMAN WILLED IT SO

I STOOD BEFORE HER AS SHE MEASURED MY FRAME
PRECISION WAS OF PRIMARY CONCERN
AS HER AMBER EYES SCANNED THE CANVAS OF THIS MAN
THE WAY AN ARTIST FALLS UPON A SCENE HE FEELS COMPELLED TO REPLICATE
BE IT A LANDSCAPE, A LAKE OR THE LOVELINESS OF LUCERNE
I WAS TO BECOME HER MASTERPIECE SIGNED BY A MASTER
PREPARED WITH PRISTINE PROBABILITIES
WHILE SHE SHE BRUSHED MY TORSO WITH HER CHEEK
HEMMING MY HERRINGBONE WHILE HEIGHTENING MY HOPES
A PIN PLACED PROPERLY WHERE CLOTH KISSED LEATHER
A REMINDER OF WHERE TO LAY HER THREAD
AS THOUGHTS OF SECOND NATURE FILLED MY HEAD
FOR SURELY SHE WAS A TAILOR BORN

BUT ALL TOO OFT A MODEL REBELS AGAINST THE STITCH
AND POINTS THE PIN TO PROVIDENCE
A FATE THAT PROHIBITS PRECISION
AND DULLS THE NEEDLE WITH WHICH SHE SEWS
WHILE THE CLOTH SHE CLAIMED WAS CASHMERE FRAYED
AN UNRECOGNIZABLE REMNANT OF RUIN
AND SILKEN FABRIC BECOMES GABARDINE
WHILE TWILLL LAYS BATTERED AND TORN
FOR SURELY SHE WAS A TAILOR TO MOURN

Greater Love

Here he lies before me, my friend for many years,
he saved me from the water, now I'm frowning in my tears;

Grief is but a poor word for everything I feel,
there can be no greater love;

He was there to guide me through the follies of my age,
always there beside me, everything forgave,
held me as a father, showing me the way,
there can be no greater love;

No fear did he have before the storm,
the fate of others was his only thought,
and though it was the way to certain darkness,
to save my life he gave his own;

For my life he gave his own,
and these words are writ in stone.
where he lies;
"Greater love hath no man than this, that
a man lay down his life for his friend"

PLEASE

Please dont have fear
It is love that I bring,
I know you've been hurt
But I'll soothe the sting.

Please have some trust
Just look deep in my eyes,
I'll show you some secrets
All displayed, no disguise.

Please look at true love
As a gift God's supplied
I pass on this gift
With no bonds is it tied.

Please try to believe
My love is complete,
It all came together
I was swept off my feet.

Please yourself what you choose
Its your life, you should live it,
Only look in my eyes
And see love, every minute.

LEATHER

LOVE MADE ANGELS WEEP

AUTHOR OF TELLY TALES-The Adventures of TELLY the OWL
KIDS-XLIBRIS.COM

Her hair drapes her breast, fluffy & light
Her eyes are a mystery into the night
That smile so sensual, all bout you
Of fantasy, Love and Dreams that come true!

What is she thinking, in those dark shades?
Of love and of romance, Come Darling, let’s play
And soar far above the clouds, oh so high
Oh please don't come down, let’s get up & fly

Caught in her beauty, not even a care
My fingers are gliding right through her hair
To kiss those red lips, oh what a treat
My face is on fire, I’m burning, such heat

We are together, lying as one
Like lava, it's pouring. HOT like the sun
Now we lay sleeping, a sleep that’s so deep
Cause the love we just had, made angels weep
