proper diet containing lots of vegetables and whole grains along with aerobic exercise is definitely the proper way to go.
"Diet" pills are not good for your liver and have no lasting effect on weight loss.
Start out by eating a bit less of everything you normally eat, and gradually decrease as time goes on. That way you wont have to change the habits of a lifetime or get used to a new lifestyle that you are not going to continue with. Eventually your body will get used to eating less.
