The Month Before Xmas

The Month Before Xmas

'Twas a month before Xmas, Thanksgiving itself,
when Black Friday started ahead of itself.
Despite a recession and ominous rumors,
the debtors reverted to frenzied consumers,
stampeding each other like hogs in the wallers,
as if in a contest to throw away dollars.

Then back for the next day, and on into Sunday,
with something left over to spend Cyber Monday,
and ad infinitum, while making believe
some Santa will pay for it all Xmas Eve!

Their greed how it sparkles, their gifting how merry.
Such fun to appear a benevolent fairy.
But reckoning comes when the creditors call,
then dash away, cash away, stash away all!
For those who hold out until yard-selling times,
I'll be there to help turn their dollars to dimes.

Awesome poem... so true!
Kornbluth, that is an excellent poem. Two thumbs up!
Once in a while one can stumble upon some real bargains at yard sales.
I once bought a whole shoe box full of hockey pucks for 50 cents each.
I don't play hockey. I don't watch hockey. I wasn't interested at first.
But, while looking at other stuff, I was able to surmise, that the seller, who was an old guy, retired from working at Madison Square Garden.
They were game used official NHL hockey pucks, many with old time ads on them.
I sold them all individually on eBay several years ago. Depending upon which puck
it was, the final sale prices were between $12 and $78.
50 cents each "a bargain, perhaps the best I ever had". laugh

I'm looking for a left-handed 1957 Gibson Les Paul for $10.
It doesn't matter how many dings or scratches it has!
Make that ANY Les Paul for $10.

Paul G. Allen's family might have a yard sale. He owned Jimi Hendrix's guitar that he played at Woodstock up until his death last Monday.
You better be first in line and not attempt to haggle. laugh
