Immune Booster Not.

In biblical era plagues were punishments from God. (Some people think so even these days.) We are not dealing with a plague but a pandemic, some will say. Whatever. ...(I will learn the difference if someone doesn't point out the difference between a plague and a pandemic.)

However, as us humans and science evolved, we are more aware of bacteria, fungi, parasites and viruses. How they infect us and how they spread.

Anyway, understanding science is not a strength I am born with.

Just like Trump, none of us are medical experts to talk about medications and treatment. And as we all know internet and media are full of shit and lots of non experts giving expert advice. One moment you think you have learnt something, the next article tells that it is not true. (That is if you read in research mode rather than believe everything mode )

At this moment in time, it is better to understand our bodies and it's systems and functions than fall for every bullshit.

Our immune system is designed to protects us from infections through various lines of defence. It's a complex system. The function of our immune system is made up of the reciprocal reaction between our diet, stress, lifestyle and environment other than our genetic material and various types of cells and even memory cells that are stored to combat similar pathogens.

There are lots of bullshit about boosting the immune system these days.

But the truth is, the immune system is not designed to be Boosted. The correct message should be of maintaining a healthy immune system so that it would function when necessary to fight diseases,
by maintaining a healthy lifestyle, balanced diet and minimum stress levels.

Yes, there are certain nutrients, vitamins and minerals required for the function of our immune system. Lack of them in our diets will hinder the functions. But no secret ingredient, super food or a magic supplement can boost our immune system.

Non expert Usha marveled by the immune system signing off on a glorious Wednesday in month of April, year 2020.

Be safe. Stay home but not glued to a screen.
Have a nice day.!bouquet

Feel free to add any other facts about the immune system and its functions.

Hey Usha. Yep, while there may be some nutraceuticals and other supplements that are in general healthful, and therefore could have effects on "boosting" the human immune system a bit, evidence for such specific effects is typically lacking. There is evidence that hunger and dietary deficits of sorts can hamper general health, and thereby immune function. The same seems to hold for various types of shock and stress. The immune system is complex, and composed of many sub systems, many of which interact in exquisite and still poorly understood fashions.
There are parallels here with the concept of "a cure for cancer". While certain characteristics of cancer are shared with all such illnesses, the various "types" of the crab are legion. So it is with our immune systems. And there's a frustrating "whack a mole" Jones going in all such research/therapy.
Modern genetics and molecular biology has allowed us to sniff about under the tent here a bit. But these factors make researchers nervous about proposing new therapies, as apparently beneficial interventions in one part of these systems, soon turns up problems elsewhere, often much later. For example, radiation and chemotherapies have "cured" some cancers, most notably those of the blood in kids. But as a group, these survivors now are at increased risk for repeat cancers, of the same or other sorts. Intensive watchful surveillance does help in many cases.
Over the past 20 years, there's been a flood of newer "biological" agents to treat all sorts of illnesses. Some work quite well over the long haul, but for many, typically those targeting one cellular component of the immune response, whack a mole sets in. It seems as if the immune system cops an attitude about being fussed with, and compensatory actions, usually with cellular receptors, or intracellular modulators (second and third messengers) occur, raining down on everyone's day. But the problem isn't nearly as bad as with effective preventive agents, such as vaccines.
In the past, any of the many types of lung cancer usually meant a life expectancy in terms of months. Some now survive for years. Not too shabby.
All of this is evidence of living in exciting and promising times, you brilliant SL hottie heart throb. And by the way, a few here just might be medical experts. But I digress.
