Muscle Shoals...
Muscle Shoals is a city in Alabama. It's also the name of a recording studio that formed in 1969 and has a list of artists who recorded strings of hit songs that's longer than my arm!Who?
Artists like The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, George Michael, Wilson Pickett, Willie Nelson, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Joe Cocker, Levon Helm, Paul Simon, Bob Seger, Rod Stewart, Tamiko Jones, Cher and Cat Stevens to name a few.
Months ago, I watched a documentary about Muscle Shoals and bookmarked it to use in a blog. "Oh, I need to get to it.." excuse was used too many times.
Today, gonelikethewimd commented on my Duane Allman blog and mentioned a song recorded at Muscle Shoals.
I'm crazy busy this week with drawings and bids for new work, but I'll sneak in a link to the Muscle Shoals video:
Nearly 2 hours but worth the time to watch/listen.
It shows the background to how so many hit songs were created.

"You gotta understand that Muscle Shoals had it's own kind of R&B, different from Memphis, different from Detroit, different from New York, different from L.A.
How did it happen in this little town of 8,000 people to start this whole style of music?"
